I just did a simple search on how to stream and yours was among the top. Like bumping into a friend on the street haha! This was a great video. I have MANY obs questions. You should definitely make more of these
Another Rule of thumb for 1080p 60fps is for every Mbps Upload speed your max goes up 1,000 kbs bitrate. So for 10 Mbps your max is 10,000 and you should aim for 8k or 9k and limit your network usage.
Thanks a lot for this vid! I've been streaming on YT lately and was dissatisfied with an overall quality I got. But it turns out I should have switched from 1080p/60 with HEVC and 15Mbit to 1440p/60 AV1 and 15Mbit to get waaaaaaaay better final quality!
Can you please make a vid on recording settings I need to know which are the best settings to have the best and smoothest quality video, while all at the same time not having to large of a storage size and not affecting my fps.
Hello - I hope you can help me. I am new to OBS, and I've been streaming all day today to YT, and my internet had a few issues (unstable connection). It never disconnected, but what happened is that when it came back, all of the feed from earlier today is gone. I was streaming for about 3 hrs and when I'm looking at the stream on YT, it thinks that I've only been streaming for 30 minutes, or since my internet came back online. And yes, I have the setting checked that reconnects if the connection is unstable. Do you have any ideas why I lost my entire morning of streaming? Thanks. or if anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. And I also have "enable DVR" turned on.
You shouldn't use the main profile, it should always be the high one. The main profile is for very old devices, just about any device that can be used to watch streams is able to handle the high profile. Also, do not use full color range, most devices expect a limited range video signal. Messing with that setting can make your stream look washed out or with the contrast way too high.
@@Not-Only-Reaper-Tutorials yeah didnt knew it until i saw another video and found this aswell installed it straight will be good with my 4090 and ryzen 9 7950x3d
Every streamer has different settings. It all depends on your setup. Their setup might not be the same as yours. I have AMD Ryzen 7 5800x with RTX 4070 12 GB. None of these setting I do give me a clear 1440p stream. Someone said use AV1, most say to use H.264. I still haven't figured it out. My upload is 22mbps, so I set my kbps to 20,000. Some of these streamers are running 50,000 kbps.
hi, i have a problem. when streaming fps game and standing stil it looks nice, but when action starts quallity drops down and its kinda looks blury. any suggestions?
Thank you for this. Really helpful. I would like to get into streaming VR content. I am expecting to be a bit more demanding. I generally play wireless so there is a lot of streaming going from the PC to the VR headset and viceversa...if I then have to stream on the internet it gets even more demandng. It would be useful if you could suggest some optimal settings. I got a high end system with a 4090 and I use a Quest 3, wirelessly(Wifi6 router connected to my pc via ethernet cable). My internet is quite fast as well (70-80 Mbps upload). Any suggestion?
i haven't got to test out the settings yet (planning to soon). however, regardless, i just wanted to say thank you for the guide and clear instructions! even after 3 years, this stuff still overwhelms me at times yet i felt like i was able to grasp what was being said! :)

great question! Personally, if you have a pc that can handle it, I would do AV1 encoding and set the recording to "use stream encoder" with the same bitrate as your stream (about 8-12 mbps for 2k and av1) and that would probably be the most efficient way to do it
i have a ryzen 9 cpu & a 3080 GPU , have 2 Monitors both 1440p and i Try to Stream in 1080 to KICK , it looks fine BUT...BUT when i try and record also for a RUclips Upload it just says Encoder Overload. Probably need a 2 PC Setup for that. But for Streaming in 1080 to KICK , my Base should be 1440p right? and the Output should be 1080 cause thats for KICK Correct?
You can find better help if you ask this in OBS forums. Hope this helps, I don’t think you should be overloading with your equipment. Also your base is what you stream on. And you downscale to 1080 that’s your output.
When I use AV1 my stream runs for 3 minutes then bitrate goes to 137 and stays there. I know it's not my connection cause x265 has no issues only AV1 for streaming.
is your bitrate set less than half of what your upload speed is? i had that same issue... my upload speed is 40mbps and doing 20000kbps upload was too much and when i went down to 18000 is started working fine. That's the trick with av1 is that you have to go lower with bitrate because it's definitely more picky
I find that if you have higher end hardware that using multi pass just adds unnecessary computing power and for me it was just better in temperatures of the gpu if I put it to single pass. On a lower end pc it might look better for do 2 passes
Pretty much just enhances the image. Simplest way of putting it, it uses AI to produce a slightly sharper image. Basically uses your encoder to optimize the use of bitrate for a perceived, sharper image quality.
Another guy tested in both on and off, and your encoder utilizes it whether you enable it or not if you're on an Nvidia or AMD encoder, so checking it doesn't hurt anything
the problem with obs is it use way more ressources than streamlabs and can cause issues while recording gameplays, since i don't have most of the stuff you are showing i don't know what settings i should use on streamlabs
I used to use streamlabs but one works way better for me and I don’t support the shady stuff that goes on with streamlabs. Unfortunately I can’t help you unless you’re using obs
