    I’d love for SOME PROVIDER to be brave enough to at the very least give us a BALLPARK range of what costs generally run! I want to know what I’m up against- thing is that the people that need this the MOST cannot afford the procedure. Let us know! Please don’t say that every case is unique- we know this! What is the AVERAGE cost for all on four uppers and lowers? No one will tell us- I’m saving to change my life! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker looking to set up a nonprofit to serve MY population. Recovering addicts who have two years sober but can’t restart their lives because teeth are an issue! Have you ever tried to be taken seriously as a therapist with missing teeth? Not easy. We want you to make your money- we just NEED to know what to expect before we embark on this journey! TY

    Problem is.... most dentists have HUGE egos and when you ask questions like that they think you're questioning their authority and immediately take an attitude... happens 99% of the time!!!
    Very very very rare to find a dentist that is both competent and has a good bedside manner... very rare!!!
    I had a double all-on-four done at clearchoice... they tell you up front that you can select your tooth size, shape, color, etc., but when you get to that point they really don't want to be bothered... they just want you to accept what their 3D CAD printer spits out... they already got your 50 grand and they just want to move on to the next paying customer...
    The best advice this dentist gives is to do your homework and check out as many reviews as you can possibly find. Check all the regulatory agencies, too!!

    I've watched a couple of your videos and I really like your down to earth explanations. Your ability to communicate a complex procedure process at a laymen's level yet maintain accuracy. This is why I'm writing to you about a procedure I've had over the last several months.
    To start off I wanted to mention that I had 2 implants installed several years ago and I have never had a problem. Below is a summary of my experience with another doctor I had hired to installing implants in my lower jaw to give me a full set of teeth. This was only doin in my lower jaw. The upper jaw was a regular denture.
    A few months ago I found a dentist that I thought was capable so I explained what I was wanting. I wanted to have the remaining lower teeth removed (they were badly decayed) and replace them with implants. However I told him I didn't want to disturb the previous implants. His response was that would not be a problem. So we scheduled an appointment.
    One week later he started the procedure and I was given several shots for pain in addition to a small pill to make me extremely drowsy. While he was doing each implant I began to notice that it was taking quite a while for him to do each one. After lots of time went on the anesthesia started to wear off. But he continued on saying he was almost done. It got to the point that the pain was so great the nurses had to hold me down in the chair so he could finish up. He did try to attach the denture when he was finished but it was too painful. Thank GOD the anesthesia was still partially working. But he was done for the day and they helped into the car so my wife could drive me home.
    It was a couple months later during a checkup an x-ray of my mouth was taken and I happened to see it. He had installed 5 post with one left beneath the gum surface. When I asked him about this he said the bone in that area was a little soft and he wanted it to harden up more and didn't want me putting pressure on it. Kinda made me wonder why he was trying to fit the denture immediately after the surgery when one of the post wasn't exposed. He did also tell me later that he had capped the posts above the surface until the gums healed. After about 4 or 5 months the gums did heal and his office called one day and said it was time to install the denture. Note: During the healing time I was using the lower denture as a regular denture and it was not attached to the posts.
    So I scheduled the appointment but with me knowing he was going to have to cut the gum open again was making me very nervous. He did give me a few shots for pain and soon opened the gum to expose the post. He screwed the top part of the post that holds the denture onto the top of each post. (sorry I don't know the technical terms here). Then he took an impression of my lower jaw so he could modify the denture so it could snap on. Well the first mold didn't work because the mounting fixtures wouldn't line up. So he did it again and it again it wouldn't go on and I could see he was getting frustrated. So to fix the problem he decided to snap the little rings that normally go into the denture directly onto each post. Then he took some pink acrylic while it was a liquid or very soft and put it into the denture then pressed onto my jaw on top of the posts. To my surprise the gums started burning like fire. It burned so much I couldn.t tell if the burning was from the acrylic being hot or because it was irritating the gum. But he firmly held the denture in place and said it would take 10 or 15 minutes for the acrylic to harden. Once it had hardened he tried to remove it but it was very difficult but he eventually got it off. Then he tried to reinstall it but it wouldn't snap on. So I tried it and I was eventually able to get it back on but it was very difficult. At the end he had me show my teeth so he could see if the lower teeth were lined up correctly with the upper denture. He told me by lower teeth should close inside of the upper teeth but they weren't. But he said he could adjust that and he did but it still wasn't right. Close but not there yet. He then asked me how they felt and I told him they felt ok but I would have to try them for a while and let him know. It has now been about a month and during that try out time I was having a problem with my upper lip on the left side getting caught in between my teeth when I eat. It's a painful moment when that happens and the upper lip is now beginning to get irritated. So I will have to go back and have him do a proper adjustment.
    I know my post is pretty long but I felt a little background would help support the reasoning behind my question. How can you adjust a denture to move inward without making major alterations to the denture? After going thru this painful process with this guy I'm beginning to have my doubts about this guy. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi Chuck it sounds like you’ve had a tough time… Snap in dentures can be very taxing on the patient and the doctor… It sounds like the doctor is using the denture that he created at surgery to be hooked into implants. This likely is the cause for it being ill fitting… Have a conversation with him or her about the possibility of having an additional denture made that is customized to the new topography and your upper denture with relation to the implants… It’s possible he is using that initial denture to save you money but it might be well worth it to have a new denture made that integrates with the implants. One additional thought is that when a patient is catching their lower lip as they chew it is often because the denture teeth are not set in the right position either vertically or horizontally… The normal process when a patient pays for two dentures… One at surgery and one after healing… Is that new impressions are taken and through a series of 2 to 4 appointments the new denture is created and customized to fit with all healed tissue and implants and would oppose the top dentition optimally as well as well as give you the proper face support.

      @@implantsecrets Thank you sir for your reply but I want to make a correction to what you said in your reply. The lower denture is biting the upper left side of my lip. Not the lower. The dentist said it's because the lowers are not going behind the upper denture and he did try to adjust it but it is still doing the same thing. In addition to this the crown on the implants that I had gotten several years ago has popped off and I believe that the lower denture was pushing on it when I eat. I did notice that after the lower was installed that it was slightly touching the previous implant crown but not by much. My original thought was that the new denture would be stationary like my previously installed implants but apparently it is not. I think the O rings in the socket are allowing the denture to move slightly when I eat. From my research every doctor has said the glue that attaches the crown to the implant will only work long term with vertical loads. Any persistent horizontal pressure from the sides will eventually break the bond between the crown and the implant. I'm kind of hoping that attaching it back won't be very expensive and I won't have to spend another 7.5 hours in the chair. Thats the longest I have ever spent in a dental chair.
      You were correct when you said he used the denture made from a mold made after the surgery. He initially did 2 molds of the lower jaw. One before the surgery and one after. He used relining material in the denture so it would sit neatly on the gums and to cover the implant posts for eating and cosmetic reasons. When it came time to do the final installation he again use relining material in the denture in order to insert the sockets for the implant posts. I also totally agree with you that the lower denture is not right and will most likely require another one to be made. However at this point I've lost my trust and confidence in this guy. It is very apparent that he knows I expect him to fix this but he seems reluctant to do so because of the addtional costs involved. This to me is bad business and being self employed I always do my best for my customer. If I didn't do it right the first time I fix it. Even if it costs me more short term. Long term I've made my customer happy and the word of mouth should take care of the rest. It seems he is thinking short term. Guess a medical degree doesn't make you a good business manager. But I will give him one more chance to make things right. I just hope I don't have to sit in the chair another 7 hrs. He says he's done hundreds of these but now I'm wondering if I should seek out another doctor for the fitting. There are a couple of businesses in the city that make dentures and I'm considering using them if he can't or won't fix his mistakes.
      Thank you sir for your response and professionalism. I know there are more like you where I live in the Houston, TX area. Perhaps you may know one or more that could help with this.

    Sounds like you may be spending up to a year just doing your research. And you got to do all this for each provider. You got to become an expert on materials, procedure, experience and training and so much more. You can spend up to a whole year or more just doing all this research. Most of us are not up to this daunting task. You gotta cover all your bases and still something can come outta left field you did not plan on. No guarantees no matter what you do. It all boils down to you gotta put your trust in somebody! Complications, now that is what scares me far more than cost. Something going wrong, sooner or later.

    • @christinacarroll3407
      @christinacarroll3407 9 месяцев назад

      we as patients should not have to do any of the research. we shoould at this point be able to trust that a doctor knows what he is doing. after all... what is he getting paid all that money for? so many quacks out there and they all take medicaid and helath insurance even though it doesnt help pay for any of the cost really. it's a sick system really. people who actually need the medical attention are desperate and cant afford millions of dollars for that healthcare so doctors play on the desperation of people to make all that money money.

    • @implantsecrets
      @implantsecrets  9 месяцев назад +1

      Christina, patients should always do research! Just because a doctor has a license does not mean they have the experience they need for such important surgery. Always do your own research, find a professional who has the experience to do what needs to be done. Don’t just assume the doctor knows what you need. There can be complications due to many factors.

    I know 8 people who have All on 4. All had the same problem, cleaning perfectly between the denture and the gum line. When the dentist removed the bridge for a cleaning, receded gums around the implants. Some needed implants removed. Get the removable overdenture, it'll be easier to maintain and keep clean..

    • @implantsecrets
      @implantsecrets  3 года назад

      Hygiene it’s very important to the health of the implants. If a patient does not have good hygiene, the gums will start receding and possible implant failure.

    I recently had an all on 4 that I have mixed feelings about. Immediately after my surgery I was told by my surgeon that he dropped a tiny screw down my throat, they tried to retrieve it but I swallowed it. The nurse and doctor accompanied me to get an X-ray at the nearest ER where luckily it was not in my airway. They told me it was in my stomach and I would pass it via a bowel movement. Are these types of mistakes common and how could it been prevented. Thanks for your advice and love your videos!

      Are you able to use a water pic? Also the floss threaders? Talk with your dentist and ask if there may be away to make your final device more hygienic. Sounds like you may be getting food caught in between the denture and the gums.

      @@implantsecrets so I have N apt with him on Mon and I let him know that Im unable to clean and am feeling very sensative at the gum level even with my toungue. Hopefully he will adjust so I can clean because im getting lots of buildup underneath. I am feeling more of a gap now maybe thats good because im still healing. I do think he knows what hes doing with me. I want to be able to floss. Im also going to ask him if the finals will be cleanable.

      Hi there again. So I asked my doctor about making it more cleanable by making more space so I can floss and he said that I will get more food caught and he didnt adjust it. I would rather be able to get floss between it. He also said if he uses zirconia that it might break with the open gap on my back teeth. Im thinking I need to see another doctor before I get the permanents. I wish you were closer to me

    I have rare illnesses and diseases my gums an teeth have been bad for a long time rare diseases syndrome’s an extensive complex medical problems history but of course not found out at the time initially an at this point in time right now have a abscess/A couple other teeth going that direction, an situation with everything haven’t been taking care of due to thee delays is part of that most doctors/specialist under my care for all the rare Things plus extensive complex medical Things are astonished that I’m still here because of it I have a couple teeth in the front that literally you can see through them the name all to my teeth has always been horrible in any removal had to be done surgically to the point where even that was difficult because they were breaking off like shards of tiny thin glass also a lot of pieces were left behind my surgeons it probably didn’t know how to deal with that correctly I know once I get the trauma surgery done for my jaw which was back in 1993 but it’s coming down an gotten really bad due to the rear syndrome Diseases autoimmune I’m sure a lot more different things that have happened with my health along with my salivary gland etc. it’s so extensive it’s hard to put in detail on this comment I also experience heavy financial burden which intern does not help me with my overall health and well-being either the fact of been able to use one top denture that was fitted one time only for this long is surprising even with the bottom portion of my teeth basically gone! When I say it is her Renda‘s Lee horrible to surgically remove my teeth with it breaking off like she has a glass in a lot of that is still kept in my gums due to lack of knowledge of dealing with that situation as a oral surgeon I’m not sure but these are local oral surgeons I never went to a specialist but I will be now because I have no choice because of the jowl also on top of that the pain and tolerance is horribly bad let’s say over nine shots of Novacaine and one oil surgeon gave me that plus I think gas and it did not do anything literally people can hear me in the waiting room and probably outside horrible. Thanks for listening to my comment it means the world God bless always everyone💟🛐💟🛐

      Hi Patricia, Some nonprofit organizations may provide dental implants grants to individuals who need help paying for implants. There are other programs as well that may provide funding. You can also go to your community health center to find out if there are currently any programs in your area offering dental implants with grants.
      I found this website that might be helpful.

    i asked all the right questions and the doctor screwed a crooked implant into my mouth i can stick my tongue underneath the entire left side is hanging out the side of my face. and because its hanging down so low only the teeth on the left side touch and even worse they dont just touch they slam together against my remaining real teeth like a hammer causing tooth pain. when i smile i can stick my tongue out the right side where none of it touches. the doctor got about 40,000 dollars and i got stuck in tooth pain and agony for christmas. and what a hypocrit he is playing all that christian music in his office.
