She would put Vaseline on her makeup to smooth and blue. Her movements are intentional but she's so amazing at making it look easy, but don't think for a second it's easy. I've never seen anyone match her movements perfectly.

i feel like ana perfectly embodied the "caricature" of marilyn monroe, the way she is remembered by the general public, the whole time i was watching Blonde all i could think was it just felt like an impression of marilyn as she might appear in a dream? But her portrayal is the one to beat so far, she was a real light in what was a considerably mediocre retelling of marilyn's story and the portrayal to beat, and hopefully after such an acclaimed performance Marilyn will finally be allowed to rest, and random Hollywood sychophants will stop dredging up her trauma for Oscar bait :)

Female actress used to be treated pretty badly back in the day, sometimes bordering on abuse like with Judy Garland early in her career. Not saying this was the way it happened, but look at these two clips with the preconceived notions that in 1953 Marilyn was berated by some sexist man just before performing this part and therefore seems a little withdrawn. Whereas Ana De Armas comes from a generation where although browbeating and sexim still exist, they don't to the level as it did before. So imagine Ana De Arams instead being quite confident when she's performing her interpretation of Marilyn and that vulnerability thus seems lost. Again, I reiterate that maybe I'm wrong about this but it's interesting if you look at the perfomances though that lens.

i feel like ana perfectly embodied the "caricature" of marilyn monroe, the way she is remembered by the general public, the whole time i was watching Blonde all i could think was it just felt like an impression of marilyn as she might appear in a dream? But her portrayal is the one to beat so far, she was a real light in what was a considerably mediocre retelling of marilyn's story and the portrayal to beat, and hopefully after such an acclaimed performance Marilyn will finally be allowed to rest, and random Hollywood sychophants will stop dredging up her trauma for Oscar bait :)

Marilyn cannot be compared. No one can capture her beauty and charisma the way she just does it naturally. everyone else trying to replicate her. It seems extremely forced and not something that they can do naturally.

This is the closest any actress has some to Marilyn in appearance and mannerisms. She did a truly amazing job. The point was to capture the essence of Marilyn, not to look exactly like her though Ana came extremely close! Kudos!!!

Marilyn was Marilyn. One. Unique. But that Ana de Armas nailed it?? No question about it. You can like the movie or not, but her acting was impecable and you could see Marilyn in her.
Female actress used to be treated pretty badly back in the day, sometimes bordering on abuse like with Judy Garland early in her career.
Not saying this was the way it happened, but look at these two clips with the preconceived notions that in 1953 Marilyn was berated by some sexist man just before performing this part and therefore seems a little withdrawn. Whereas Ana De Armas comes from a generation where although browbeating and sexim still exist, they don't to the level as it did before. So imagine Ana De Arams instead being quite confident when she's performing her interpretation of Marilyn and that vulnerability thus seems lost.
Again, I reiterate that maybe I'm wrong about this but it's interesting if you look at the perfomances though that lens.
