The NBA Duos That FLOPPED Miserably

- In this video, we’re diving into the most disappointing NBA duos that never lived up to their potential. We’re covering the infamous Process Sixers experiment, which seemed to embody everything wrong with tanking; Dwight Howard and James Harden, who proved chemistry can’t be forced; and Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, a pairing loaded with expectations that hasn't delivered. We’ll also examine Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony’s time together, a duo that looked unstoppable on paper but fell short on the court, and, finally, the potential-laden yet volatile mix of Kevin Garnett and Stephon Marbury. From mismatched personalities to failed expectations, these duos remind us that talent alone doesn’t guarantee success.
Harden and dwight, harden and CP, harden and westbrook, harden and KD, harden and embiid, harden and kawhi
Hmm...it's almost like there's a trend 🤔
Harden and CP3 ran the KD warriors to 7 games. Nobody else did that. If they were a flop then the entire NBA was a flop for 2 years.
You look at trends and assume you’re smart without looking deeper.
@@onebigadvocado6376then the following year they couldn’t beat the 2016 Warriors
5/6 injured playoff runs 😂
Billups is so underrated. Denver became a very good team the instant they traded for him, and the Pistons, honestly, have never recovered from losing him.
Billups was a leader, he had no holes in his game, he was able to run a team as well as taking responsibilities then needed. Billups was amazing
Remember the process? 76er's are 1-7 right now. The Process is still going on lol
Yeah... At the mid 2010's the process argument is "Wait till Embiid is fully healthy"
They still waiting... 😅
And embiid likes to pick his butt and sniff his fingers before his free throw 🤣🤮
Don't feel bad at all. Hope that 7'1 flopping ass center never wins a ring.
2-12 now actually.
The process failed miserably years ago. It was over with Fultz. People are so desperate to not face the music, but it was obvious years ago that basing your future on failure was bad for the team and the league. The process helped ruin basketball.
To be fair a lot of those failed dynamic duos came in the bestern conference between 1999 and 2014. 13 of those 16 years were won by tim or kobe. And if they were having an off year, you had to hope that dirk was off too.
tim, kobe, bron, and dirk/pistons one off years, hell the indiana pacers were one of the most slept on teams before malice at the palace
Shit dirk went twice in that span... Which leaves OKC as the odd team out with 1
@@gamingwithmya7447 ikr? One team in 16 years in the west didn’t have tim, kobe or dirk. it just needed 3 future mvps in the same team.
Meanwhile, in 2011, pacers won 37 games and went to the playoffs
If Harden doesn’t get to run the entire offense then he whines like a child.
No he doesnt tf? And if you have Harden, you better run the offense though him, cause thats why you have him
@@kjjr3270 because that has worked so well for every team he has played for
@@LancasterResponding yawn Pippen stan
@@kjjr3270so why has he been through 4 teams in six years and apparently he leaves because he’s unhappy every single time
Agree. One of the most overrated player of all time. Plays no defense. Needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Flops like a fish.
Hill, Mcgrady and Ming robbed by injuries
The last duo hits hard the most! Always wondered what could have been. 🧐
As a Wolves fan I still ponder what would have been if we'd been able to get that Ray Allen/ KG duo over Garnett and Marburry
Forgot russ and pg
I think no one has big expectations there, right?
@ tru
Its weird with the harden howard situation because those first two seasons the rockets actually had good overall success; won 54 and 56 games, respectively, and even cracked the conference finals that second season (Shoutout Clippers). But then come to find out, Harden and Howard were having issues behind the scenes the whole time.
gianni's and dame are on that direction rn
Not really
@ too injury prone (both are)
nah
@@caleblaws2533 They are. Harden and Dwight got farther than what Giannis and Dame ever did together.
Houston Harden was technically the most dominant offensive player in the post merger era... The numbers say Harden in his prime was more offensively dominant than MJ,Kobe, LeBron,Embiid, Carmelo, Durant, Curry, Duncan, O'Neal, Kareem, or any other superstar to play in the post merger era. He was 2nd only to Wilt Chamberlain which was before the NBA, ABA merger.. never been a Harden fan but the scoring run he went on in Houston was extraordinary
Which is fine...for the regular season. But iso ball doesn't work in the playoffs, especially with a coach like D'Antoni who pushes the pace and prefers a "7 seconds or less" style offense.
Wow
How much of that production came from free throws?
yeaaa.. In retrospect, Dwight should’ve just shut up & listened to Harden 😂
He was literally travelling on most shots and hooking arms while driving. Those stats are extremely padded. How many ft was he shooting per game? He was fouling damn near every drive and when they started coming down hard on that his stats fell off completely. Don’t paint this dumb narrative.
bro churning out bangers 😩
Your transitions are amazing
You're wrong about KG. Big Ticket would have gladly given the spotlight to Marbury. He loved Step and considered him the brother he never had. KG was always a team-first guy. This trade was all about Marbury's immature and jealous nature. It also didn't help that one season after Garnett signed his record contract, Stern and the NBA changed the CBA and adopted a cap system- forever crippling MN's roster as long as Garnett was there.
So the guy eating Vaseline whilst rubbing it on all over his face was the problem, who would’ve thought.
We aren’t even worried about Paul George, & Embiid they won’t last a year.
Ik Harden fans are gonna be mad at me for saying this…his nickname needs to be the “What-If Machine” bc the amt of teams you could look at of his and say “What If”. The Howard-Harden combo isn’t even like top 5 in my mind: OKC, Nets, 76ers, CP3 era, last season…? It’s kinda…insane…the more I *actually* think about it
Harden and howard could've been kobe and Shaq...difference is coaching. Phil figured out how to take the 2 biggest egos in the game and have them click JUST ENOUGH to win championships.
Theor hatred for each other was public. They weren't bossom buddies.....but for 60 minutes every couple of days they got along just enough to be dominant.
If harden and howard had someone who pushed them and make them both happy with the offense....they could've been scoring 130 a night while completely shutting down the paint for opposing offenses.
People forget, despite being a goofball, nba players would hesitate if not completely avoid driving at howard just a few years prior.
Injuries definitely hindered his capabilities as a player but if he grew up and worked hard he could have been maybe 85% of his peak Orlando dominance, which combined with the best scorer at the time...would've been devastating.
If he would've just accepted being #2...or even #1B he could've allowed Harden to learn, mature, and grow in his game. He stayed in neutral and even regressed because he was worried about the other shit more than the game itself which ultimately is reason why his championship window has closed (he can get a ring, but likely off the bench on another star's back...like howard in LA)
Well, the difference is also that Shaq 1999-2004 was illegal. Dwight never reached that level.
While I agree that Harden and Kobe were comparable, even if Kobe was able to play in a system.
Who thought "guy who innovated load management" and "guy who can't play in the playoffs" was a great duo?
Can we can consider Zo Mourning and Larry Johnson (with the Hornets), David Robinson and Dennis Rodman (with the Spurs), Allen Iverson and Chris Webber (with the 76ers), Jason Kidd and Vince Carter (with the Nets) or Pete Maravich and Walt Bellamy (with the Hawks) as flops ?
Chris Webber was washed up by the time he came to Philly. That wasn't a duo lol
Again.... Thanks 76ers for The title
remember when? Embiid is still an embarrassment
Out of my whole life of following basketball, I did not AI played for the pistons…
What? It’s well known. He also played for the Grizzlies for a few games.
Why no KD & kyrie?
That A.I. and Melo duo failure hurt me
Tbf to Pg and Kawhi when they were on the court together they were good but it was kawhi being healthy
Except against Denver lol they were ass that whole series
Among the biggest chokes in history.
@@KDP24 they was ass whole series but was up3-1 ? Make it make sense
@@substance806 they were up by 3-1 and screwed it up. They're all healthy in that season too. Why won't you make it make sense?
Marbury is a great player to me, but not liking the T Wolves duo is a prime example of self destruction🤨🤦🏾♂️
The sad part about KG and Starbury is that they reunited in Boston in 2008-09. But sadly KG got injured midway through the season and never returned. After that, Marbury left the NBA for good.
Dwight Howard should’ve just caved & listened to Harden, in hindsight 😂
Why are you cutting out stories on the Clippers.
That first duo was such a big flop Ngl
I gotcha pun fam
Dwight played both ends
bro said toby harris
Is it bad that when you mentioned a Wolves duo flopping, I immediately thought of Edwards and KAT? Felt like you were leading right into it after talking about the 2023-24 season with PG and Kawhi.
dwight howard is just kwame brown if he didn't meet jordan for a few more years
@@tapedlocks no
Dwight Howard was a great defender with no Offensive game. He used his athleticism and power, once his athleticism went he was pretty much useless. He never developed a post game
@@kman215 Watching Hakeem attempt to teach him post moves was just so sad. Howard just had no fluidity.
Joel Embiid = fake superstar
Kawhi and PG were the remake of Grant Hill and TMAC
Between Leonard and George they have about half a knee
Sorry did he just call Dwight Howard and Harden a superteam? Dwight may be getting the best revisionist history reputation ever if u believe that
Calling Dwight the best roll man in 30 years during the 2010s was such a wild statement.
Where are kawhai and pg
The main reason why Ben Simmons and Jordan be failed is because there was no true leadership in Philly and the only time they had real leadership was when Jimmy Butler was there and if they chose to keep him over Tobias Harris, everybody could've fit their role properly, but they choose to let him go and they have forever regretted that move It led to nothing but a big mess.
If only dwight bought into his role in Houston, they'd be pretty dominant
Double standards.
When you content creators have free time, you do NOT read up on better broadcasting or cripser audio transmission ALL THE TIME, CONSTANTLY. You wouldn't wanna be criticised for having a bad video out, then going with your girlfriend to the park the next day and people saying 'he shouldn't go out with this performance, he should be at home attoning for his crime' or something. That's what you do.
They have training, they have games, they have departure times at airports and they have nutritional plans, and as long as they follow all that, no one can tell them what to do with their free time
Until then, let people do what they want to do in their free time, man. Playing bad isn't a sin for which a sportsman has to attone by locking himself in a room with water and bread, what is this attitude? I swear, the sports brain on some people...as if you wouldn't take the deal if offered to you.
But instead of criticising the blockheads having made this deal, you criticise George for not being 'worth' what they pay him...as if it's somehow his fault and not theirs that he earns that money, as if it's his fault and not theirs that they have gambled away their immediate future.
But I'm sure you as baskeptball professional would have said no to that deal and would have said to the Clippers - 'dear Clippers, I do not think I'm worth that money, and I'm not worth all these assets, please do not do it, pay me much less!!!' To somehow ry to spin it around to pin the blame on George is just dum-dum.
James harden and Darrell moreuy
Ben Simmons the worse excuse for a basketball player I have ever seen
2020 to 2025 point guard would have been amazing with Howard. But sadly, DH had egomaniac ball hog Harden for a teammate
Bro dwight destroyed the Lakers, rockets and other teams hopes by wanting post shots despite the fact he had no post bag. And the reason why he even wanted post touches was because shaq made fun of his post game, if dwight put his efficiency over ego, him and harden easily could've made a finals appearance
I get not liking harden but at least speak facts
@@ghastlyfloaters Whats so bad in center asking for ball near post? Anyways, there were certain issues with DH but Harden was major culprit. What Harden is doing now with Zubac or what he did alongside Capela could have done with DH12 as well. But Harden was a ball hog back then.
@kedrprao it's not wrong to want post touches when you are good in the post but when you aren't it's just plain greedy man, imagine russel Westbrook forcing his teams to give him consistent and constant three point shots.
@@kedrpraodid u not watch the video capela played the pick and roll posting up is you throw the ball to your center and let your center cook capela didn’t do that harden hand him the rock for a quick bucket
What about Barkley and Hakeem
Melo and Iverson shouldn't be on this list. Iverson was past his prime. You even mentioned it in the video.
76ers process ended when Jimmy was traded
Well all I will say is you can’t blame Ben anymore
It was Joel the whole time
I feel like it’s worth mentioning that guys like Shaq and Barkley would call out Dwight Howard and Blake Griffin a lot for their lack of post game.
In the case of Dwight, it proved them right really because once his athleticism dropped off, he wasn’t really skilled enough to dominate the post and that’s even with the strong body. Also just this weird need of Dwight to post up, rather than just be the screener which is what he is really good at and what Harden is really good at using.
Whats going on? Harden and cp3 was the one and only team that came closest to beating a healthy gsw.
Nobody in the league even come close and yet people refuse to give them their flower
Because they didn't beat them and completely take them out
@XcuzeTheMessDeer none other team come close to beating prime gsw.
They did the impossible
Background music is sweet
James Harden is just not a winner. When the lights are the brightest, that player shrinks.
It was uncanny. Did the playoff refs just not call as many cheap fouls to bail out his missed shots?
@budwyzer77 usually, the whistles aren't so cheap in the playoffs. Hence the name, playoff fouls
I hate bein a 6ers fan dude
James Harden and Chris Paul flopped miserably.
Not really they made the western conference.
Facts!!!!
@@rapgodreloaded9259 absolutely not if cp3 didn’t get injured they probably woulda won and went to the finals and woulda beat the raptors
Almost as bad at Chris Paul and KD or Chris Paul in Blake Griffin and so on
No they didn’t
Ben Simmons. What a waste of talent. Dude could've chose to be the savior since embiid played bad that game, but no he passed that chance up and became a joke. Significant results (championships) for better or worse offsets or highlights weaknesses.
Just started watching, hoping kyrie and kd getting swept in the first rd vs Boston than breaking up is on there
Simmons was never good. He is trash period. Embiid is trash too.
This was cool... kinda all over the place....until you brung up ..A.i...had to turn..it off🤦🏿♂️
What about KD & Kyrie???????????????????
Harden involved in a lot of duo and trio flops
and yet there is still multiple glazers in almost every comment critical of him.
Paul and kawhi failed miserably
How you put them on the screen and they were a trio. But harden was trash and leonard was hurt. PG the only one that put in work
Bronny and lebron lebron good but bronny
Chris Paul and getting a ring
1920 season ?!
Shaq and Penny?
I can’t listen to y’all opinions; literally sounds like shit the media says about them. Y’all just can’t keep it about what happens on the floor; we don’t care about off the court stuff.

Shit. I forgot that Marbury and KG played together. Super early in KG’s career. Shit. That does hurt.
