- This is a tutorial of the song Yellow by Coldplay. I figured out the official chords, and strumming of the acoustic guitar. This is exactly how Chris plays it live and on the album!
Have fun and don't forget to subscribe! Хобби
Great video +Paul Davids you have the best tutorials! :)
I believe your diagram for the Abm isn't correct though you play it correctly in the video. If you look at your diagram it should be press down on the 5th string with the ring finger and the 4th string in this case the B should be open as you stated in the video.
Yep, you're right! Thanks for noticing :)
Oh thats why it sounds horrible ! . Tnx xd
you can also play it from the bottom 4, mute. 4,4 open open. easier transition but it doesn't ring out quite as much because of the muted fifth string
No he doesnt have the best tutorials. Paul davids a show off and thinks hes too cool yehehehe
@@goharkhan2627 Imbecile...shut-up!!
It’s awesome when people like you take the time to check how the real musicians actually play the song. Great tutorial.
This is the best tutorial for yellow that I've ever seen
This is ultimate proof that Coldplay was way better in their beginning. What a wonderful and unusual chord progression. This was pure inspiration. I miss that time...
The only time missing is conception, songs still here and as alive as ever. 🙂
3:18 "I'm gonna play it like this, because Chris does it, too. And he's my role model." aaah lol same here though!!
Develop your own ideas, anyone can copy songs
@@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons It's always the best creative outlet when a player composes their own music. But that said, it is generally more difficult to "copy songs" with convincing accuracy.
Far harder to convey someone else's creativity accurately, than to convey your own creativity, as this is your own work.
God I miss the old coldplay
tell me about it. dont worry though. most of that 90s alt rock will be the classic reruns of tomorrow. we'll get a chance to get sick of hearing it on the radio again. Already hearing Pearl Jam and Nirvana on the local classic rock station here in Houston. LOL
Listen to everyday life
They've been changing like every single year
I hear you. Bu the last album was like an anticpiation for the lockdown. Pure Introspection
Yeah me to there old songs hit different
It’s serendipitous this came up. I’ve been on a Coldplay kick for the last 2 weeks. They say history repeats itself, maybe it’s a sign of the times.
Man I’ve been watching you for 4 years and I just found this. This is so awesome. I can’t tell what’s better, your guitar playing, humor, or video editing.
I gotta say that I absolutely love the minor v chord at the end. Great flavor chord out of nowhere.
Me: lets do a simple song what about coldplay or something
Coldplay: tunes guitar differently
Me: lets do something else then...
Sven Böhm lolol this was me too
Hahaha same goes here 🙃😂
Did not expect to find you here
😂
I always underestimated this song for sounding too beautiful with probably-very-simple chords. ...surprise!! now it's twice beautiful and am loving the challenge of learning how to play it. What makes it sound btfl is the fact that 2 strings are actually tuned in the same note. Less is more. And viceversa. Gonna take me some time until I learn using my thomb, never did it before. Thanks for sharing. Btw, I did liked it and suscribed!
us😅
Probably the best acoustic guitar sound I found in the internet. Congratilations man! A hug from Brazil!
That guitar doing intro voice sounded as good as I can think of an acoustic tone!
This is defineteley the most accurate version. Thanks for explaining the tuning, I think it's also used in other songs of the album (maybe in the whole album, idk). Great video!
I've been following your channel for so many years and I just saw this video for the first time - and it might well be my favorite song of all time... It's so funny to see you so much younger and less professional than today. It really shows even more what a pro you've become! 😉👌🏻😁 Thank you for this video and all your great work. 🙏🏻
Interestingly, shiver, a song on the same album (that album being parachutes) is in the same tuning as yellow, it's more complicated than yellow though, the chords are very unusual but it's a kickass song. Two awesome songs with one weird tuning. Very creative indeed, what a genius Chris is
and Jonny*
Parachutes the title track also in that tuning!
@@rwinter13rwno, just Chris she said
We need more of this! This coldplay videos are awesome!
Excellent first song for me to introduce thumb barres. This is easier than I than I expected. Thanks.
J’en ai vu des tuto pour cette chanson et celui-ci est de loin le meilleur, il est très complémentaire à la partition que j’ai achetée ! Bravo et merci Paul🙏
Bro I follow you from years ago and i just found out you have a tutorial on my fav song. Knowing you this must be the most accurate tutorial online
You're my favorite guitar channel ever. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
This is the best version in youtube....thank you.
Find this tunes for almost 20 years.. Thx A lot Paul🤜✌
Been looking for this my whole life, thanks mate! 🙏🏻
Thanks Paul....
Tour videos are really helpful to improving me to play guitar...
Thanks a lot
Great lesson Paul. The open chords sound so good. Thanks.
Wow dude that was wonderful. I've been playing this song wrong so many years. this sounds so much better.
THANK YOU
Your tutorials are the best. Thank you :)
You got yourself a new subscriber Great work, man! It is really well done and I like how you didn't cut or edit the video. It made the video much more appealing
Only version I’ve seen with the correct tuning. Thank you.
I love both Martins (Chris and that Martin guitar - it sounds amazing). Thanks for an amazing video, as usual :)
This is way beyond the most original. Paul is awesome
Excellent tutorial, it has helped me put together a full version of the song. I don't think I got it quite right but I think it sounds. Ok. I look forward to further tutorials, Keep up the good work.
Probably one of the coolest guys on earth :D Thanks for the tutorial :)
When I try to play the B chord the way Chris Martin does it with his thumb, my palm ends up muting the first string, so I bar the last 3 strings with my index finger. It’s a lot more pressure on the finger but for me it’s a solution to get that 1st string ringing. Thank you for the video! This is a great tutorial! I had no idea the “secret” behind this song was changing the tuning of the 1st and the 4th string. I love the bright sound these chords are making!
Great Tutorial Paul. Make a video like this with 'Trouble' pleasee..The song is so rich with the alternative tunning and open chords. When I realized how Chris Martin changes standard tunning into the weird ways he does. He definitely owns my admiration. It's not easy learn his acoustic covers just by watching him play...That's why your tutorial videos rocks man!! help me out!
Great tutorial Paul. I love this song and try and put it in my set list everytime I play out, but just don’t like to change up the tuning as much as I’d need to, so I just capo the 3rd or 4th and play it with G shape 1,5,4 with some little highlights.
Fairly new subscriber. Lovin your channel man!
Top! Fijne uitleg, was al met dit nummer bezig en je video geeft goede tips die ik kan gebruiken om het net zo te laten klinken, keep it up!
been searching for something thats really sound like the originals n here it is boom

Thanks Paul for this awesome tutorial 👏🏻

Man this song is sooo good!!

Great video! I’ve covered this song so many times and never explored the alternate tuning

u have a good voice just practice and we'll buy ur albums.
That Martin sounds sweet, great tone. Nice video!
my favourite guitar teacher!!!
Hey Paul, I would like to thank you for putting so much effort in your Guitar lesson. You have the best Guitar lessons. Paul request you to make a video in recording and mixing techniques for acoustic guitar. Please.

Thank you great lesson!
Fantastic explanation!!! thanks so much!
thank you Paul for your videos, I've stopped guitar some time ago and got back to it. Guess why? by landing on one of your videos :) Keep up with the great work !
This is a genius tutorial Thanks !
Thanks Paul ! It sounds so good, now on my guitar ;-) Merci.
Great video and highly accurate! I feel like it's important to mention the rhythm of how Chris goes to the Badd11 is different in EVERY live version (it comes sooner) !!!
Yup, actually play an Abm ; thank you Paul ! You are a monster and a legend !
Thank you I have the sheet music for this and learning this rendition of it was a lot fun
Paul David is just phenomenal. I just happen to be lucky to run into his video when he was explaining John Frusciante tone. I hit that subscribed box right away. lol
jesus that guitar sounds so good. so good.
Man you read my mind 3 years ago, how'd you do that?
That guitar sounds incredible
Just a should out Paul. Good tutorial. Will play this one on Thursday Night with a Female Vocalist to do the chorus section. Above my range these days. I run my Acoustic through a zoom to get a slight flange effect. Sounds nice and thanks much.
Thanks for the lesson !
That guitar sounds amazing ...
Best ever and you got it right, so many others are fake yo got that last chording that is diff than every verse before.......you sir finally showed me what I hear when Coldplay plays this song,,, it is NOT three chord rock as every other so-called instructor on youtube claims they can play it.....I can play 3 chords etc...lol, I cannot play the actual version you show that CP plays....the subtleties are beyond most of the other guitar "teachers" on youtube"...beware.
Amazing I loved it!
Space reserved for super awesome backing vocals
This is a great lesson, thank you. One small addition would be when you play the Emaj7, it is easier _not_ to use the pointer finger on your left hand as you do playing a regular E7 shape. Instead use your middle and ring finger as Chris does in the live videos. This way it is way easier to just slide that shape back up to the B chord without fumbling. Once you do it a couple times the B chord becomes an easy grip and you can see why Chris chooses to do it that way.
Super helpful!
Good job mate! You nailed it!
Great lesson as always! I'd really like the finger picking bit too though, sounds amazing
Been going through your tutorials! They're all really well made! Would it be possible to make a tutorial for Coldplay's song, Don't Let It Break Your Heart? I've been trying to figure it out for ages.
thanks for spreading the accurate tutorial! It always bothered me trying to learn this song years ago from other tutorials because of how obviously wrong all of them were
What a thing to do! Thank you for the good one.
Paul, you are the best teacher ever
My goodness that guitar sounds like heaven
That was awesome Paul, subtle points.
Thank you, you get the tuning of the guitar correct. Most people don’t tune the low D string to B. They only tune the high E string down to D#.
Wow!!! Thank you for this.
thanks for this tutorial; very helpful!
Thanks for making this tutorial :D
Great tutorial! Why do you not make video like this anymore? It's good to know how the artists really play chords and rhythm
Yay, thank you, finally I know how to play it :)
Thanks for that Tutorial!!!
And Nice Voice 😜
I have started playing this song on Guitar Mr. PAUL, Thanks a lot.
Yellow is one of my favourite songs, i loved singing along at the start...dunno about my neighbours ;)
Great 👍 would be great to see more song tutorial from you
Great lesson Paul, keep going!
Thanks for sharing this!!!
Thank you! Amazing job!. Greetings
Thanks for the lesson
Hey, i am from Brazil. Your vídeos are great !!!
The intro killed me, "No." Lmao
Haha This guy is just amazing.. Thanks for ya tutorials mate
Hey Paul,
I don't usually leave comments, but I figured I would leave one here.
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this one mate. Wish you could also make just an instrumental version of the entire song (like how you did in the beginning of the video), Anyway, I reckon you are a fantastic musician. Got a great charisma going on as well.
Good luck in the future! Cheers
Mikhail Kolychev whoa good prank there that's giving me American Idol flashbacks to when Randy Jackson would say sorry but... YOURE GOING TO HOLLYWOOOOOOD
Paul actually have good voice! Found this video just today.
