As a complete novice I never thought I'd say this, but I find it easier to play the first version that you've shown us :-). Fantastic lesson, thank you so much.
Definitely the best channel on the net for beginners and intermediates non English natives. I appreciate a lot the vocabulary you are using and the speed of the lessons and the explanations. Very very nice English accent. You transmit the calm and the patience necessary to learn. That way you will add a lot of subscribers from abroad as my case. Kind Regards
Wow thanks Cristiano ! Just in case you are interested I have a patreon page where I have lots of exclusive content here www.patreon.com/joesguitarlessons
Thanks Joe. Your video makes it easy and clear to the beginner. I'm using the 1st version and it sounds amazing. I'm really glad I found your channel. Cheers.
@@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons Bl**dy hell Joe, I've just quickly skimmed through your video list and put 7 songs already in my playlist to start working on. Awesome. Thanks Joe.
Excellent tutorial as usual. It's always a pleasure to follow your instructions as not only the way you teach it and the way you play and sing the songs is awesome but also the selection of songs is outstanding. Thanks
It's people like you that inspires me to learn and be much more knowledgable at playing the guitar. You've helped me alot with this tutorial, helping me learn my favorite song. I wish when the time comes and im experienced enough, i'd be able to teach other aspiring guitarists to learn songs, and basically at playing the guitar. Thank you for this very informative video.
saw three to four videos..went ahead but then came back because u did the best way possible...just that the strumming pattern if wud have been mentioned..it wud hv been perfect
Joe, thanks so much for sharing! Would you consider singing through the song. It's so totally connected to learning a song by ear! And you have a nice voice..
Hi Joe. I've just happened across your video for Yellow by Coldplay. The acoustic guitar throughout the whole song is tuned - (high to low) - D#, B, G, B, A, E. The D string being tuned down to B gives a nice "droning" sound to the song as it's in the key of B, and the D string is played open throughout the whole song - I think - as it's a long time since I've played the song. I hope this is helpful, as it's in no way intended to be critical of your work.
Hi Joe, You have a great chilled out style in teaching- i have been playing for a few years now.... But i like how you construct your lessons, good on ya mate. Keep it up... :-)
Hi Joe I love the song “Stranger things have happened” by the Foo Fighters on the album. Echos, silence, patience and grace I know the initial intro but then get lost a bit Any chance 🤔? Ya
Thanks Joe! You're a great teacher! Would you consider talking about Stuck on You by Lionel Richie? I'd like to try the barre chord version, not a big fan of the open chord way of playing it It's my GF's favorite song!
Nice one Joe, thank you. Perhaps one comment I'd make is it would be handy to you mentioned how many bars of each chord you're playing. I worked it out for the chorus, but it threw me to start with. Cheers.
+Mark Davison Hey Mark, thanks for taking the time to get in touch. Yeh it's a fine balance, I do know what you mean, but I also think a big part of playing is for the student to work the arrangement out, this helps so much with developing the ears, which is also a massive part of playing. Hope you don't take any of this the wrong way. Keep in touch, and if I can help let me know.
JoesGuitar lessons I suspect you are correct Joe, I've found that as I improve I need less information. Timing is just something I'm struggling with at the moment. Hope that will pass too! Really like your relaxed style, just easy to watch & pick up how to play. Thanks again.
I appreciate what your saying Mark, when starting out it does help to have as much info as poss. However, let me give you some tips for learning songs. If timing is a problem for you, play along with the CD a while so you can get familiar with the tempo/speed of the song. Then try without CD , listen to see if you think it has improved. If not try a metronome, just a basic click at the same tempo as the song. With this song "Yellow" it all pretty much down strokes, so you don't have to worry too much about right hand. Try to avoid any tutorials that go into a lot of detail about right hand ie, up up down down etc, I'm not a fan of this, but if it works for you fair enough. My feeling is if you know the song well enough and practice enough you will come up with ideas for the right hand, always start basic, then develop from there. this way you will never have to rely on down up down up or whatever it is. Your quite correct, timing is important and chord changes, but you right hand is what will make you sound different to everyone else.. hope that helps
Steve McQueen is a great guitar teacher. Thanks a lot from France!

It's lovely with the D tuned to B as well.
Great tutorial -- coming from an old-timer. I've been playing guitar for 50 years. Like your style. The downtune from E to D# is crucial.
Thanks
I've watched a few tutorials on this beautiful tune & this one sounds, by far, the most authentic to me. Well done & thanks much!
