Yellow is the name i gave a random teddy bear, i found in venlo Netherlands, when i was 17. She is now the best friend of my 7 year old daughter, never go anywhere without. There is some magic about yellow.
That first album is only getting better with age. Such simple, lovely songs. And the last one - Everything's Not Lost - sounds like an optimistic Bond theme. You don't get many optimistic Bond themes. Fair play to them.
Yellow will always have a special place in my heart. I had a very close friend at one point and we were discussing music and I said that the song Yellow reminded me of him. He was my yellow. I made so many analogies about yellow when thinking about him. And even now that he hates my guts he's yellow. But a different kind of yellow. The thought of him is bittersweet, like a lemon. Lemons are yellow. I have his contact saved in my phone as Lemon Boy. Even though he's blocked and deleted my number. I miss him dearly, I always will. And I still love him. He's still my yellow.
That's the beauty of this song. It doesn't have a particular meaning to it. You can just think about what means to you the most. Love. Parents. Battling mental issues Anything for that matter... Truly a worm of art. Crazy to see how ONE single song can be perceived in soo many ways from different cultures.

Yellow is the first song that I've heard from Coldplay and fall in love with song, Martin and whole group. Almost 2 decades ago still love the whole package. Many more years of music and success to come your way, guys.
I know he hadn’t had children yet but this song fits so well for the love of a parent as their child grows. My gift to my son this weekend for his 13th birthday I will be singing this to him (been practicing all year). I have been singing this to him while he was in my belly and a baby to out him to sleep. I hope he remembers it. Thank you Chris ❤
I heard this song for the first time when my grandmother passed away in 2000. I had come back home for her funeral from living abroad. This song always reminds me of her. Funny enough, she lived on an island and we have a similar beach as in the video. And when I go to her house, still today, that is the place where I have seen the most stars, ever.
That is freaking amazing. Love Chris Martin and the whole of coldplay. "our songs are generally about someone, or something awesome". That is just awesome.
Always been one of my favorite songs. I love the fact that it's not patronizing, but it is like a lullaby that has a soothing effect on me. As if to say, come on, dry your eyes. That type of vibe.
I still remember the first time I heard this song. Summer 2000 at a Pacsun store in Ontario/Rialto mall. I was staying at my tias house for the summer and my older cousins drove me to the mall for back to school shopping. I purchased one single item, a baby blue Roxy hoodie. With hoodie in arm I froze and listened to the entire song, I instantly knew I was in love.
... One of the most genuine, heartfelt songs in the ever and it came from the silliest, most damn mundane of moments and I swear on God, it's reinforced what I always felt. That hypothetical break up, that last tour, last show... That last song they play before they exit stage left? It's gonna have to be one last heart felt Yellow.
This remains my favorite song simply because it’s the only song that reminds me of no one and nothing but myself. It’s a solace, a safe space and a love letter to myself. So knowing it’s not for anyone specific just “someone awesome” truly brings me such joy. 💛
Awesome to watch this! Humble beginnings to currently 576M views on their "yellow" music video on RUclips and many radio plays, CDS and more! Often something awesome happens after a dip or a hard time, so all the more reason to never give up! They got away from the noise and this is how this amazing song came out! Brilliant!
I recently just revisited their first album Parachutes. I gotta be honest " yellow " was the song that I was always listening to but nothing else. One day, I opened up the album and started listening to it. Found out every single song in that album became my favourites. There is so much flavour and emotions in those songs. I have been playing the album on loop non stop for a while now and I dont think I wanna listen to anything else in the next couple weeks or even months. I never liked an album so much, every single song is legendary.
The End of the video might be the most true thing about how or why our music-scene is how it is. It was an amazing time back then. Getting signed, being put in the best studios of the country and just having time to create and really go into it. I would really give everything to get that kind of freedom with my band
I just realized the best recording studios are probably in the middle of nowhere and not big cities because you can insulate all you want but you can’t manufacture silence. My house is practically silent, save for the overhead fan turning, and I realize I’ve taken for granted where I live. Silence truly is golden.
Chris's whole demeanor and energy is just soothing. My first introduction to Coldplay was A Rush of Blood to the Head. I can't remember which song specifically but I do remember instantly recalling that this band would be one of my all-time favorites. I've seen them live twice so far and I absolutely cannot wait to see them live again.
