Ahw man... Seeing grind hard after watching the latest their latest video with a huge "sponsored segment" and then will leaving.... 😢 Makes sense in the context of the other video here about why people are leaving automotive channels.
The RUclips auto gospel is here! Im hitting the bell
This looks like a good channel man! Glad to be here from the start 🎉
I appreciate it!
Instant sub,by 2 vids i will be following you btw
Will be watching! My channel never grew - I did it out of passion. I want to return to it but only if I can pay the bills at the same time!
It's a grind, and it stops being fun if you lose that passion... which often happens when it starts paying the bills
Plenty tips and info out there
Perfect. I started an automotive RUclips channel a year ago and really have no idea what I’m doing but it’s been fun so far. Subbed!!
As someone trying to grow a little 30k sub car channel I’m looking forward to any tips you have!!
thanks m8. i'm kinda scared to start out at videos. cutting editing and equipment is always the thing where i'm most affraid of. if you need a topic for a video. storyboarding. getting the feel for good ideas and a plan for the video. and what are great stable cameras and rigs to hold them. i really struggle to not show my asscrack on screen.
I can not wait for this!
Love to hear about some general RUclips tricks - making good thumbnails, and titles. How to make a repair video and maintain viewer retention.
Noted!
An awesome concept. I’ve a tiny channel but would like to grow it in a healthy way, building a community. Have you any top tips for that please? Cheers. Ed
I’m really glad your asked this, because I’m trying to answer it for myself, too! If you get a banger video (lots of views) avoid the urge to capitalize on that, to make more of the same, for that rush of success. That helps you. It doesn’t necessarily help a community. Do what serves the core audience, the community. Be honest. Reply to as many comments as you can. Ask questions. Ask for advice. Admit you don’t know things, admit when you get something wrong, and share what you learned from that. Be a real person and real people will be drawn to your community.
Looking forward to more videos!
Do you have any info on why Burt left Donut? Science Garage was my favorite show. He went on paternity leave, then was just gone. I only recently found out he's at MotorTrend now, but doesnt seem to be in an on-camera role anymore
Bart (not Burt) was never primarily an on-screen member of Donut. 90% of his work was behind the scenes. But that was also before my time and I don’t know why he left. I only met him once, in passing, at SEMA. As far as I know, he’s still at MotorTrend. I’ve heard rumors about some changes there, but nothing solid.
I'd like to know why Donut did High vs Low on the same type of item multiple times?
I swear i watched multiple high vs low car seats, steering wheels, etc.
Was this the creatives idea or was it something related to the suits?
Donut management never told us what to make. They only told us what NOT to make (usually because it was too expensive). So, every video you see on Donut was the idea of the creative team. That said, I don't have a specific answer because I was rarely involved with HiLow. I only worked on the WRX finale at Sonoma Raceway.
Let's hope this works out for you and everyone else that is venturing out on their own.
BTW, last year I was listening to a JRE podcast and the guest was a RUclipsr that makes millions and has a great team around him. He said that he was self taught in the ways of YT, and made a lot of videos telling other people how to also be successful. Unfortunately I do not remember the guys name, so I'll have to go look through my history and try to find the ep. I'll return with that info and hopefully it will help you as well, so that you can continue to make great content on here and keep us all entertained and informed.
Thanks! I'd love to know who that is
This channel going to become a podcast of sorts? Could be interested in listening to more 🤔
Definitely considering it! I think longer content on specific topics might be better as a podcast
Salute to you bro
This sounds great! I've plateaued and can't find a way to grow my audience on social media. Car Twitter is dead and was never really my place. Facebook is also dead and RUclips feels like it's starting to dry up. My website is getting hits and I'm selling some merch, but I thought I'd be further along 2 years later. I'll be patiently waiting for the next video.
Subscribed. Here’s to seeing where this goes. Life is a Highway…
Enjoying your videos. What would you suggest for someone thinking of starting their own channel?
Think really hard about what you are passionate about, if you have something new to contribute, and have reasonable expectations. I'm gonna make a video going into more detail about this soon
@@autotea thanks man. i love cars, just want to show the world what ive spent years building lol
What does your future career look like? This youtube channel? Will you be working with any personalities on their shows like a partnership or consulting?
For the foreseeable future, this channel is just a hobby and not monetized. I co-own and manage another monetized channel, which isn’t huge, but it’s mine. I thought about consulting, but decided I didn’t want the responsibility for someone else’s success, in case I screw it up! I love collaboration, always have, and was often frustrated because bigger channels tend to see others as competitors more than potential collaborators. I’m always thinking about people I’d like to work with, and have a long list!
@@autotea outside looking in, the channels I follow seem to behave like a community. Vgg, dirtheadshed, stay tuned, finnegans channel... mcm has always been genuine and high caliber. There's still so much good, inclusive work being done in the category albeit on a smaller scale.
nice
Can’t wait to see you’re new content from a different angle. Donut media feels like what Atari did in the 70s. I hope you don’t turn into Activision…
