Back to 11th grade weight. Jumped rope 200,000 4 years ago. I don’t think I lost a pound cuz I didn’t change diet. This summer running 100 yard sprints , at 8,400 done , 1,600 to go. Weigh 177. Onto 160s. Not giving up. Retired , I have the time. Age 69. I think I can skip a million in 2025. Bought the blue tooth handles. $94. Let the app do the counting. Sprints in Shiloh Park, Plymouth Minnesota. Welcome to join in. I lost my high school speed and it pisses me off!
I love your beginner jump rope tutorial on RUclips. The one with 20 seconds jump rope and then 20 seconds calisthenics all in a 10 minute timeframe! I share this video in the gym.
So im skinny fat and was doing pull ups and push ups but I’ve decided to lift dumbbells followed by jump rope… hopefully in 6 months I’ll lean out a bit from the extra resistance 🙏. Thank you for always being my inspiration Dan… do the thing 👊
Consider resistance bands as well. You can get by with just the bands, lookup some DIY band/board/bar systems, or go for the complete systems out there. They work and are awesome.
@GTE_Channel so I have heard. I've considered OMAD before, but perhaps I never gave myself enough time to adjust. What kind of fasting have you done? And how long until you acclimated?
Awesome advice! Gonna share this with a facebook group I’m on. I’d actually put dropping alcohol as the first tip because that made the real difference for me
Great video! Been following you for about a year, I do the work outs and enjoy your stuff. The skipping has been great and I’m getting pretty good again. I really enjoy the videos!
I just went down from 35 to 30% body fat percentage, still planning on going down to 16 and then 12 if I'm physically capable. Daily Omad and 72 hours fasting once or twice a month helps a lot to get there, but getting some nice long walks and lifting at the gym boosts my efforts even more.
Started in July (with this channel) I weighed 210lbs (6'2") and about 30% body fat. Today I weigh 180lbs (havent done a dexa scan since my original but I think I am low 20% ish now).
This is overall good from a general tips standpoint but there are three things I would add. 8.) the consistent good days (eating right, exercising, etc) outweigh the infrequent “bad days” (indulging in an ice cream, missing an exercise day, etc.) so don’t beat yourself up over it and just enjoy the moment. 9.) your environment has a huge impact on staying the course. Throw away the junk food and drinks so your only options fit in with your goals. Hide the distractions that take you away from your goals. To a lesser extent surround yourself with people that support and understand your goals (not necessary you can do this solo). 10.) it’s not easy. That is not something I would ever say. Everyone is different and this takes some, as you say, intentional lifestyle choices. All sorts of things pop up that can derail or interfere with that path. It can be difficult to get back on that path. Instead I would say it’s not complicated, because it isn’t. Follow the path and you will get there. If you get slightly rerouted, that’s alright as long as it’s temporary, just get back to the path.
@@JumpRopeDudes no problem. I would also add that it's worth it to explore outside the box with resistance training. Free weights and body weight work great, but I've been using resistance bands since January and have had excellent results. You can get an entire gym workout with resistance bands and it does not take up the space or money that a full rack and weights take up.
Thank you for this excellent and full-value video. Nutrition is definitely key. I have noticed that consuming the right amount of protein keeps me full, satisfied, energized and focused. I no longer crave ice creams, milk shakes, beer, alcohol, pizzas, Mc Donalds, etc. It does take time to see progress, but once you see it, it becomes a healthy addiction to keep healthy habits.
The method you choose to lose weight needs to be maintainable, you need to create a habit that you u can carry through the rest of your life. You can take your foot off the gas a bit once you reach your goal, but if you stop completely, you will gain all the weight back plus more. Also, you'll find that the more weight you lose the harder it is to lose weight. That's because your body gets more efficient a whatever exercise you're doing plus you weigh less so it takes less energy to do whatever it is you're doing. If your goal is to lose 30% then the last 10% will probably take the longest. But don't let that discourage you. Because each pound of fat you lose is a higher percentage of your overall body fat than the previous pound. So even though you're losing less weight. The visual results will be similar to what you saw when you first started.
i have the same calorie maintenance 3000 a day. i do 2000 a day to lose weight. i end up losing 2lbs per week. But, i notice after 3 months of the diet i stopped losing 2lbs and I was more maintaining . So what I did was i incorporated 2 cheat meals a week, and this reset my metabolism and i started losing the 2lbs a week again. Ironically I needed more calories to lose weight. I think your body just gets used to the lower cals after a while and it;ll learn to function with less. The human body will blow you away how resilient it is. thats just one example. how efficient it is as well. Just ironic how i needed to eat pizzas to lose more weight lol i loved it. I would eat 5000-6000 cals extra each week to keep losing weight. it sounds fucked but its true i didnnt do more cardio nothing. My cheat meal would be a medium dominos pizza 2500cals-3000 cals per pizza plus the dip sauce 200cals lol.
I'm mid 40's, somewhat athletic, at 23% body fat. I've spent the past couple years trying to get down to a lean 78kgs from 83kgs with calisthenics. Two months ago I started lifting weights and my bodyweight went up to 87kgs (I'm assuming it's more muscle) but I'm struggling to lose that layer of fat over my stomach. So far, according to your list, I'm on the right track, but maybe I need to walk more and buy myself a jump rope 🤔. I'm gonna follow your channel for more tips...
I like the tip about not eating heavy processed foods but pizza is a hard one to give up especially if it's from a Mom and pop pizzeria they use wholesome ingredients
Two things that he didn't say that are very essential and will take you from 9 to 12 months time range to 4 to 6 months time range: Drnking Water and Fasting! Intermediate Fasting is great to so daily, but really helps if you start off with a 3-4 day water fast. Do a water fast will accomplish so much! 1. Your body will begin eating at store fat and then bacteria; detoxing. 2. You will develop a water drinking habit which is essential to losing fat. 3. You will gain energy. You can utilize this when starting your daily exercise routine; jump roping. 4. When you finish your fast you will ween yourself back into eating food; day 1 fruit juice, day 2 vegetables, day 3 fish, and day 4 other healthy foods. This will help you with starting your new diet. 5. Your appetite will decrease. Your body will told itself that it doesn't need much food anymore and over time your stomach size will decrease and you'll get full faster. 6. Bonuses: outside of water fasting helping you with fat lost, it also promotes anti-aging, healthy skin, mental focus, heightened senses, illnesses remedy such as clearing congestion and mucus. A 4 Day Water Fast followed by Increased Water Intake and Intermediate Fasting wil be life changing and life perserving!
Age impacts a lot on these results, I'm 54 . I do all he has mentioned but I think my main problem is (having to) eating way less than I already do. Currently at 25%, If I get to 15% body fat I would be a very happy camper. My goal is to be healthy, no steroids ever.
I used to IF regularly, and on-and-off a few times, but recently when I start fasting again in the mornings I started to get pretty bad acid reflux, and I figured it was from drinking coffee in the mornings on an empty stomach. That's never been an issue before, but maybe it's a thing now with me. (And I really enjoy my morning coffee so a water fast to start the day won't be great for me.)
What's the best way to figure out your exact body fat percentage. I've done a great job in the free workouts along with some weight training. I've also worked with a nutritionist, and in a very easy way, lost 20 lb have definition and honestly feel great! How would you suggest going about finding out your body fat percentage and where would one go to have that type of testing done? Is it best to head to a gym, or go and have real medical tests done? By the way, love the content on your Channel, I believe it's helping many people make great life choices and live healthier!
There are various ways. If you can find someone who is really good at using skinfold calipers, that will give you a rough number. They need to take measurements all over and know what they're doing. Impedance is another. The system measures a value based on the water on your system. It's accuracy is debated. Supposedly the best is the float tank. I don't know of anyone to have it done and I imagine it might be pricey if you can find a facility that does it.
i weigh myself every morning to see whats going on. i notice if i have higher carb days my body retains more water weight can fluctuation by 2-4lbs for me
@Dan. Any advice as to how many times per week to do resistance training for muscle building, combined with jump rope for weight loss / Cardio? It seems if I alternate between the two every other day, I do not get anywhere! I am currently doing a week of weight / resistance training, then a week of jump rope (5 of 7 days) Have done jump rope for 3 years, but wanted to gain some muscle. Do you recommend combining the two in the same 30 min. workout?
Question: Should I calculate my calorie deficit based on both active and resting calories burned, or just resting calories? For example, if my maintenance calories are 2000, and I burn an additional 500 calories through activity that day, can I eat 2500 calories and still maintain a 500-calorie deficit?
I have knee pain after 10 min running and doing skipping for some minutes. What should i do? Should i do the running with the pain or wait for the pain to go away? Plz ans
First go see a doctor to make sure there isn’t something wrong. Besides that it’s abt slowly implementing jump rope / running into your routine and having rest days in between
damn. i've just entered my info to get my daily calories. i've already did it and following my daily calories. I knew my maintenance is around 3000 calories per day and i'm now hovering around 2000-2100 calories a day. cutting mainly on fat and carbs but never on protein and i loose like one pound per week...
You work the night shift? What time ? I've been working overnight for decades. I learned to get some rest than get up and drink coffee wit no sugar. Than im usually ready to workout. Its tough working nights or overnight shift. When I did nights for example 3pm-11pm I would go to the gym right after of course with a little caffeine sometimes. Just listen to your body is the best method.
