    My family just had a Taurus as a rental for the last eight days. We all loved it. Quiet, smooth, great radio, and enormous trunk. I still plan to keep our cars for another five years, but when the time come to buy a new car I'll consider a Taurus.

    I have owned FORD Taurus's for 24 years, since they came out and they have ALL been GOOD cars never any problems and certainly NO TRANSMISSION problems.Currently own 08 Taurus Limited AWD with the 3.5 DOHC V6 with the ^ speed transmission and ALL WHEEL drive with ALL the options.and at present it has over 100,000 miles on it. I do keep it serviced. It is a very comfortable car that has good performance and gets good fuel mileage. I really enjoy the leather interior. and yes I am an old retired fart, but I know what I like and I like my Taurus as much as my FORD Ranger XLT pickup. IF you don't like the car then thats your problem.

    I had the chance to drive a 2018 Ford Taurus V6 for a few days and I have a few key takeaways in the short time that I had it.
    1. It is a substantial car. You'll notice its size when parking and just trying to keep it in its lane. However, as Brian mentioned, the engine is really good. Power is smooth and linear. I personally didn't ever feel like the car was heavy.
    2. The cabin and engine are extremely quiet. In other words, non existent, which was actually surprising considering ours had the Sport wheels (20 inch rims and low profile tires)
    3. Visibility isn't all that great in the back. Maybe I'm just used to a crossover.
    Though I only had it for a few days, it really impressed me. Power and cabin noise were standouts to me. It's a big car for sure, probably not something I'd like to handle on a day-to-day basis, but I'd love to ride in it any day of the week

      Lucky 8s it'll take you three days of driving to get used to the size. To me, I feel like I'm driving a Fiesta.

    got rid of my 2014 taurus limited after 140,000 miles. I come back to this video just to reminisce. Some Cat Converter code came on and I jumped ship too fast. These are the best car in the US. Probably was something simple but young and dumb, had it from age 19 to 23. Almost paid off too. Damn damn damn

    I have a 2016 SEL with the upgraded SHO rims in this beautiful ruby red color. I absolutely love my car. I picked it up 2020 with 36k miles for $14k, covid was starting and dealer ships were giving cars away. It's roomy, quiet, great ride. Some reviews said the cabin was tight but I actually found it to be just the right size and I love the big dash and high belt line, it makes it feel like your sitting down in the car, more like a cockpit. I help friends find good used cars and everytime I went to a dealer I sat in the Taurus and they just felt right.

    The differences between this Taurus and the Police Interceptor vehicle are that the tail lights on all Taurus models are LED, including the amber turn signals in the back. The Police Interceptor vehicle uses regular tail light bulbs, and the turn signals flash red. Also the Police Interceptor vehicle has a column shifter to free up space for the center console for police equipment, verseus the Taurus center shifter. The regular Taurus can also be an unmarked police vehicle, just like the Impala, SS, Charger, and 300, which all, except the 300, have Police Interceptor variants.

    • @JonathanMoosey
      @JonathanMoosey 9 лет назад +1

      The Police Interceptor package is more or less based on a stripped out Taurus SHO with a few features not found in civilian Tauruses.

    • @RaumzeitRecords
      @RaumzeitRecords 9 лет назад +1

      Jonathan Moosey Yeah, so i like the grill or the exterior look of the SHO or Police Interceptor better. The interior somehow would be nice if they would do it all black in the police version

    Maybe the multi-function screen is updated from last year too!

  • @wl2486
    @wl2486 9 лет назад +10

    Brian, your review is very misleading. You frequently say in your Ford videos that "you can add Nav later by buying an SD card!" Well, as an owner of a 2015 Fusion with MyFordTouch but WITHOUT Factory Nav, I can tell you this is not true.
    Both the Ford dealers and the Ford themselves will tell you the same thing. I don't know why they did this considering all MFT head units come with the Nav antenna, but you have to spec it as new with nav. If you don't, you're out of luck.

    • @aayonce4

      Maybe it changed in two years

    • @wl2486
      @wl2486 9 лет назад +1

      nope ford forums have been discussing it since 2012 and it has never been possible. it's a shame considering the cars come with gps receivers and sd card slots... just let us purchase the SD card later on if we want, ford.

    If you want a high performance Taurus that is much fun to drive, get the Taurus SHO, but remember use full synthetic oil for all Ford EcoBoost engines. Consumer Reports have criticized about the lower than average fuel economy with all EcoBoost engines from the Fusion and the Escape, mainly the 1.6 and 2.0 Liter engines. Synthetic Oil may be expensive, but the engine will last longer and depreciates less.

  • @Geforcepat

    i drove one for a week last year and enjoyed it.(ladies seem to like it?) though i was glad to get back in my focus. the 15 that i drove seemed to have good throttle response throwing it in sport mode pretty much takes care of the response wit the engine that he's talking about. and yeah love that v6 sound. my 12 focus sel is still more fun to drive though. but the limited did have good steering.

    I distinctly recall getting in this model of taurus at my local auto show when it was a new model. I was surprised how cramped and claustrophobic the interior felt, especially considering how massive and blocky it looked outside.

    4/2/18, I've got a question for you. I have a 2015 Taurus LTD/awd; what are those [useless] lamps on the bottom? They only come on when you open the doors. This model has no DRL.

    • @DK-bk1vq

      The lamps come on when turn on the parking lights and headlamps, when the perimeter alarm is set, and when opening and closing doors. They're for looks and ambience.

    From personal experience my 2nd tranny in my 3.8 04 GM car is out. meanwhile my 89 ford car transmission still works fine with all of the years of abuse. early 00's GM transmissions are crap, so maybe they are great now...
    But I probably wont ever buy a GM again. better looking cars and better on paper but I don't trust the build quality. my 89 ford economy car seems way better built then my shiny 04 "luxury" GM sedan, even tho its rusting away

    I find it hilarious that cooley complains about the taurus looking oversized and massive when the other cars in this class have the same large appearance. Hell, his critique can be applied to cars in general as they continue moving towards this look. I know it's due in part to safety, but i would prefer a sleeker look
