Got a 2.0 Turbo with a 6 speed manual and the performance package which adds Brembo brakes and LSD. Car is very fun to drive, comfortable, and I average almost 27 mpg combined (RWD)
@@ithinkihaveebola5238 Rear diff seals have gone out every 30-40k miles. Have a friend with one. same issue. Other than that no other issues and an absolute blast to drive
A very good review. It's nice to see that this guy actually knows how to use the CUE system. I'm not sure why he called the motorized faceplate "a weird little lift up deal".
I sat in one at a car show and was very impressed with the fit and finish inside. I never driven one but everyone seems to like it. I hope it is a sucess for Cadillac.
This is a sleeper hit--few expected the ATS to turn out as well as it has, given the brand's poor history with compact sedans. Check out Inside Cars' Tumblr blog as we look across the board on the ATS's reviews and performance.
I like how the ATS looks like something formal, and same with the inside. Although I do think maybe they could turn the touch sensitive buttons into actual buttons and also maybe have the CD player right on the front of the head unit instead of inside the glove box.
Before the ATS, I would not have considered a luxury car or even a car at this price level. This car has changed all of that. If you have not had a chance to check this car out in person, I highly recommend that you do but be careful, you may find yourself wanting to take one home with you.
@@ithinkihaveebola5238I love it. I have a 2015 Cadillac ATS premium performance with the magna ride. Rwd 3.6! Only issue was the cue screen. Fixed under warranty.othe than that not an issue sorry for the late comment
I don't have any problem with them on the wheel, at least in this car. I don't find it awkward or difficult in the least, but this is my first car with paddles. I love the DCT. So much faster than shifting manually, but alas, not as much fun. I miss the clutch. It's too bad that all you get on a test drive is 30-60 minutes. In that amount of time, I was absolutely in love with the DCT. After my first full day, I missed the clutch. But man, it's just so freaking fast. :)
That's why multiple reviewers including Motortrend and Car and Driver have said it is a better performance car? And also why JD Power has given it better a better quality and reliability score?
You always mention the paddles on the steering wheel, but when in the world are you going to signal while you're turning the wheel? Signaling always preceded wheel turning so why does it matter if they are on the wheel or not?
From my experience with GM shiftable automatic transmissions, the manual mode seems slugish and dopey. They usually take forever to shift up when you want them to. I wonder if they improved manual mode on the ATS?
I was literally just going to say that. Anyways how are they on the wheel? I've got a 6MT 335i and my buddy has a 6MT E92 M3 so I don't have much experience with the DCT but I've heard its brilliant.
I own a C300 Sport and i tried this car out. this Cadillac is not only better looking, it also handles better on the road. the back seats are also roomier. you clearly never driven an ATS. and i'm sure that you are one of those individuals who believe everything the BMW/Benz/Audi ads tell you.
Im willing to bet they are using the Cobalt engine in the the 4 cylinder models. A decent car though I am not a Caddy fan because they have always been old people cars and its hard to get that image out.
only the base model has the 2.5 engine which is shared with Malibu,.. and while we are at it, the average driver age has dropped to early 50's, lexus has older customers...
Other than that he seemed to have good sense as to what's going on. He is not accurate about the hydra attic transmission being boring. Something he might not be aware of but GM's transmissions are adaptive transmissions and learn the driver and change shift points based on the current drivers acceleration and driving habits.
This car is very nice, but it shouldn't cost the same as a 3-Series. I built one on the Cadillac website fully loaded and it came in at just under $54,000. I'd go with a BMW 335xi instead for that kind of money.
I guess the power steering has spoiled. When you drive a car without one, you would feed the difference. You would always have your hands at 3, 6'O clock positions. you even when you turn in a long turn, you would have your hands in the same position. However, the paddles would have moved to a different location. I would be inconvenient to reach the paddles.
@James king, Acura is so behind the curve of design and performance.....everybody does like the "beak" design that Acura is so streamed lined to continue with.....what until the 2014 Cadillac cts comes out and you will see it outperform anything in its class......Acura, infiniti, Lincoln, Chrysler are second tier luxury.....BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Mercedes, jaguar, Lexus are first tier luxury brands.....
Cadillac could have put the CD slot, where the USB was hidden underneath the audio buttons. Putting a CD slot in a glovebox is more inconvenient than at the center of the dash.
Paddle shifters need to be on the wheel so they are always in a relevant position to the drivers hands, anybody who has driven a car with a high level of performance knows this. Ever seen an F1 race car?
I don’t like the styling , it’s too blocky and rigid. However, I will say that this car is DEFINITELY capable of dethroning the BMW 3 series in terms of performance. Even the latest 3 series doesn’t come close to it in terms of HP, Torque, or 0-60. Unfortunately, that only goes for the V6 version of the ATS. When you have the 2.0T, things become a little more evenly matched.
why is it that car companies dont get actual touch sensitive screen that work well.. if a phone can make it for less than 500 to make, why cant a car company get this kind of tech
I've noticed that Cadillac didn't put a sunroof in their ATS sedans..even in this tester.. I'm a sunroof kinda of guy, so that would be my only drawback for not purchasing this vehicle.
I absolutely LOVE the blue CUE system! It is so classy looking and adds just the right of ambiance to night driving. The kind that gets me aroused to see my wife when I get home. Oh, yes... CUE is THAT good♥
I'm officially a Cadillac fan now. It has finally happened.

I miss the Brian cooley videos. Such staight forward honest reviews
This car fits you. It is a very beautiful and classic car. You should get one for yourself. Great review.

My favorite car man is back
Where else would you put the paddle shifters....on the headrest??? The paddles are on the wheel right where they belong!
Nice Cadillac!!!

I would pick this over BMW and Mercedes any day! Cadillac nailed it on this one!

Thanks God Brian Cooley is back. I almost had a heart attack.

Great review, the 2.0 turbo is a BLAST to drive. Very zippy, impressive 0-60 in 5.7, not bad for a 14,000 car.

WELCOME BACK !! COOLEY !!!
Brian Tong is one HELLUVA auto reviewer dude!
are u kdding me? it's one of the best interfaces i've seen, it's better than my ford touch
From my experience with GM shiftable automatic transmissions, the manual mode seems slugish and dopey. They usually take forever to shift up when you want them to. I wonder if they improved manual mode on the ATS?
they can go LCD, but you have to get a higher trim to get all LCD gauges
I was literally just going to say that. Anyways how are they on the wheel? I've got a 6MT 335i and my buddy has a 6MT E92 M3 so I don't have much experience with the DCT but I've heard its brilliant.
great job brian
And now please tell us what you`ve base your comment on Patrick?
why are you so damn good doing this @briancooley
Chrome is a finish, not a construction material. The shifters could be made from wood and still be applied a chrome finish.
Im a little worried about its gearbox, does it have a sport botton? or just shift it yourself I wounder
Shadys back!
when is he doing the 2013 accord
Your back!!!

Absolutely, the computer actually has an algorithm. Impressive to say the least
I like this dude when ppl review cars there boring af.

actually i'm wrong it is only on the XTS on performance and premium trims
the 13 c class looks so outdated exterior and interior but the ats looks so clean on the outside and futuristic for it’s time on the inside
Are you ok with them on a coupe?
Man ur reviews are top notch!!!!
i actually like how cadillacs do the trapezoidal crest it looks cool
$42k+ ... and no sunroof. Okay, Cadillac.
It does? It didn't look like it to me. It must be set back really far into the roof.
FEEL THE BURN Okay.
+FEEL THE BURN I mean this one pretty clearly doesn't have a sunroof. You can tell by, you know, looking at it
+FEEL THE BURN You sure? Your previous comments prove otherwise
+FEEL THE BURN Lmao. Take deep breath bro
I've driven it, the seating is tight and I could feel the speed and the road. I buy CTS. Nice and it's not cheap.
Why did they have to make the gauges look so cheap?

do the CTS?
I always say how i love German car,but with this?cheaper, better, cooler and awsome!i was going to get the Benz but now im getting the ats
+Stiglitz Lau good choice. Not that the new benzes ar unattractive, I just don't believe they will age well
cooley is soooo cool; smart dood and says it how it is. refreshing, i wonder what he drives?
The really need to do something about the CUE and the haptic console system, It's garbage. Update it or get rid of it
its been updated
cooley i missed you
I forgot how good you are!!!!!
I really liked the ATS a lot, but I agree, I didn't like the transmission that much
You're the best Brian!!!
Little to expensive - esp when the G37 / Q50 has more hp, similar refinement, and better transmission and handling, for just about 38K base.
How about a coupe???
awesome car, nice job cooley!
Dude...that was just brilliant!
Treyday1982 says this channel is cooooool!
Cadillac could have put the CD slot, where the USB was hidden underneath the audio buttons. Putting a CD slot in a glovebox is more inconvenient than at the center of the dash.
sweet jesus cooley is back!!!!
This ride is impressing me awd manual transmisson.
Paddle shifters need to be on the wheel so they are always in a relevant position to the drivers hands, anybody who has driven a car with a high level of performance knows this. Ever seen an F1 race car?
really? i though the LCD speedo was only on the XTS...
this is a great car. ESPECIALLY for caddy's first attempt
Regardless of the fact that this Cadillac has an excellent driving experience, it still falls short of the competition in terms of overall refinement.
When I clicked the link I thought to my self "please be cooley, please be cooley" and bam it was.
How convenient do we need CD slots to be, anyway? Aren't we all using USB or SD cards these days? Did you notice the cassette player is in the trunk?
"damn right it is"- Brian Cooley, the Man.
IMO, paddle shifters on a sedan are dumb. They are just there for eye candy.
I don’t like the styling , it’s too blocky and rigid. However, I will say that this car is DEFINITELY capable of dethroning the BMW 3 series in terms of performance. This is the first video for the ATS that ever complained about the automatic transmission.
can it do corners
+Piiiya the don Extremely well
I can watch Brian review a toaster. He rocks
The Bentley Continental uses iOS software and has like a 17-inch multi-touch screen and 2 iPads on the rear seats.
@EpicThreads1 ?
Thanks for a lot of information i will try this features.
The paddle shifters are made out of magnesium not chrome
Cooley! Where's the review of CUE?! All I got was basically an overview. The gauges are awful in this car.
@denisrenelara Agree
If Cadillac fixes CUE, this car would be close to perfect
why is it that car companies dont get actual touch sensitive screen that work well.. if a phone can make it for less than 500 to make, why cant a car company get this kind of tech
