@Faust 88 Actually, Varg claimed that he only went there to sign the contract. He wouldn't worry about the death threat because then Euro would have no reason to see him anymore. But Euro attacked him first and then he retaliated by killing him. So it was self-defense if Varg speaks the truth.

Just finished watching the second part for your mini-series. I gotta say, I watched the movie "Lords of Chaos" and I'm honestly bamboozled by the complete character murder they did to Varg. In the movie they make Oystein look like a decent guy with big dreams that in the end just wanted to get on with his life while Varg as a narcissist douche.
Thanks for this documentary, definitely clears up the water on who was really at fault here and who was the real victim.
Well they cast a "Cohen" as Varg, knowing his stance on the chosen people. They made Varg look as bad as possible because of his well known dislike for the group that funded the movie
I agree on the false portrayal of Euronymous,Although I saw a comment on the Movie saying it was inaccurate.Character wise just a bit. Story wise though it seemed pretty spot on to the content of this video.

What if Varg just said that Euronymous was planning to burn some more churches and I killed him before he succeeded. The trial would have gone in a completely different direction.
They were both idiots and took themselves way to serious.
I think most people in this scene take themselves way to seriously. I respect the talent but they mostly look like a bunch of bellends tbh.

What’s kinda unfair is the fact that Varg Vikernes got the maximum Sentance of 21 Years, same sentance that could get a national terrorist or someone who killed more than 20 people. He burnt 3 churches and killed 1 man, with the reason of self defence
The self defense is more than likely bullshit, 23 stab wounds is a bit much for what he claims. Plus euro being found on the 1st floor when he lived on the 5th, he was being stabbed as he attempted to run away. No doubt euro was a piece of shit psycho but varg isn't a Saint either
Yes, but the difference is he was let out after his sentence, while the likes of Breivik will likely have his sentence extended for the rest of his life. But 21 years are only supposed to be given in clear cut premeditated murder cases that are particularly sadistic or calculated, usually involving rape or robbery. That is how it is defined in the law, and i just don't see this incident fitting that description at all.

Of course he didn't go intending to kill him. A person who owns several battle axes, knives, swords, large medieval blades, spiked wrist cuffs, chains, lances and a flails just so happened to plan and prepare a 1000km round trip to kill someone and only took a blunt penknife with him.

I remember being in high school in the early 2000s and this story was infamous. We thought Vikernes was this penultimate metal villain. As a grown man I kinda feel sad this 20 yr old got sucked into a shitty relationship and had to kill somebody as a result. What a tragedy. It has lost the cult infamy for me. Just another abusive human relationship.

Snorre confessed in the interview that the reason varg stabbed euro was bc he was jealous of Faust. He literally drove 8 hours to Euronymous house to show up at 4am and not even bother knocking. He confirms all of this in his own story.

What comes to my mind here is that Vikernes shouldn't have met him in the first place if he was as sure about his contemplations as stated in the quotations. So it's probably a bit less one-sided than the story goes.

You don't get the mindset. Varg doesn't care about your modernistic morality that says the other guy has to be right there about to kill you for it to be self-defense. He sees it as just combat, man to man, enemies settling things the way they should be settled. You don't have to agree with it, but you should understand his perspective.
He’s very manipulative and you can see in these comments sections it actually works with some people… like most people who are caught committing a serious crime, his version of events has always been entirely self-serving. Not to mention contradictory e.g. “Euronymous was all talk he wouldn’t do anything extreme” .. also Varg: “I took his threat very seriously” I think you’re right and he justifies it in his head on some level, but I also think he’s a well spoken liar who has every incentive to paint Euronymous as the bad guy.
There’s other stuff too I could go on. Like .. Varg says Blackthorn will back him up in his account…, and then Blackthorn says “Nope. Varg totally planned on killing Euronymous.”

Yeah, "Dunkelheit" is an alternative tiltle of "Burzum", "Jesus' Tod" is actually "Jesu død" etc. But most of the copies of the album released by Misanthropy Records are the so called "German version" with booklet in German, therefore the titles are translated. The actual songs are the same in all releases.

it has nothing to do with penetrating to markets or something like that... if you'ld now just a little bit about it, you'ld understand why it is in german... my theory is that he "connects" himself with nazi ideology (as you all probably know), and by that he writes in german language... he tries to keep thing "old traditional" and writing in german gives his albums some special feeling. it is not common as others, and that's basically the whole point of burzum (do not take this literally).
When the video started it just said "DUNKELHEIT" and Freezing Moon started playing. I was thinking, "Uh... no. Guess again?"

First time watching this. What's insane is I.had a friend that would say he poisoned me with datura but then say he's joking but not sure if I could trust it. I think he's put aderall's in my coffees cuz he acted like a sociopath. And always tried to pressure drugs and get offended when I said no I blocked him on fb and haven't talked to him in months. I'm glad my logic was to get away from him and not this guys logic. What's crazy is all that time I'd listen to a little burzum here and there while all that was going on but today is my first time seeing this and now I'm in awe.

Aside from Euronymous poisoning the Polish guy and talking to others about his plot to kill Varg, are you aware that after Death's suicide, he made a stew with bits of his brain and made necklaces out of his skull fragments and sent them to other BM musicians? Varg was right to take this seriously and I would've done the same. Euronymous was a psycho.
And boy what a success he has become ever since - written various books, published records, his own role playing game and, saving the best for last, has 6 healthy, blonde children with a beautiful French woman.

It's a shame when RUclips took Vargs channel down as he explained most of the things relating to the early Norwegian Black Metal scene and the death of Euronymous himself. Seems to me a lot of people commenting on here have no understanding of said scene, Black Metal and it's history in general and have commented simply because they've seen or read the crock that is Lords of Chaos. I know it seems pretty selective choice of sources, but you can not really reveal the whole story and show opinions of both sides in such a short video. It's real difficult to tell who hated whom more out of Vikerness and Aarseth. Aarseth deserved that kind of treatment for filming taking a picture of Dead and posting it on an album cover after Dead committed suicide.
He never put it on the album cover. That was a bootleg put together in brasil. Sure did share the picture though

Norwegian black metal bands got that term from the Venom song of the same name. To my ears, they sounded death/thrash metal as well as Celtic Frost (who are fucking amazing); who are from Switzerland. And i couldnt forget Mercyful Fate from Denmark. Black Metal was an entirely different breed of musical tonality, timbre, and of course throat ripping shrieks; Mayhem and Burzum invented black metal. Inspired by those bands i mentioned, sure: the sound was created by Mayhem and Burzum and others

Surprisingly? I believe Varg in many of these accounts... Reason being, I interviewed several of the luminaries of Mayhem years ago (Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Blasphemer) and they pretty much backed up most of what Varg said to begin with...
Always wondered what the originators of 2nd wave black metal would think about Broken Trinity. American blackened doom band with the Viking ethic. And I mean traditional doom like Candlemass, Vitus, etc. 'Culled By Odin's Hand' is a good place to start...
