Churches were built over the top of sacred pyramids in Mexico. The biggest of all pyramids in latin america is located in Puebla, "La pirámide de Cholula", it is so shameful to watch the church at a distance and see that we could have a monument of our root culture instead of a symbol for colonialism... That is a shame.
Same here in Indonesia, not only churches, mosques was built in the exact location of our sacred "Batu Satangtung/Lingga Yoni".. My ancient blood boil everytime I saw those "new holy places".. We shall not bow to any oppressors sh*t, shame for our ancestors blood running through our veins..
Churches and mosques have been built over a lot of holy grounds all over the world. Go figure, the two abrahamic religions spread like wildfire the world over when humanity was weak, and tried to erase all existence of pagan cultures through colonization, mass genocide, destruction of places of worship and erection of their own places of worship. This 'cultural genocide' as I see it, is happening in my country at present. One particular issue that seems to trigger people here is the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. The story goes that a mosque was built on holy grounds during the period when India was being invaded and ruled by the Mughals. It was recently demolished as we are trying to reclaim what we have lost. People have very conflicting and polarizing opinions on this, but deep down a lot of us know the truth and will continue to fight until we have reclaimed our spiritual heritage. Varg knew the truth about how his culture was erased, hence took measures into his own hands when the system had clearly failed, and was jailed for 21 years. He took one for the team.
The album is out march 8th and its called Belus The opening and the closing song will be in the ambient musical style and the rest of the album will be in the black metal musical style. Varg has had a long time to write it so i know its gonna be awesome
