- This section -- like many before it -- was initially slotted as the final section of CAMPAIGN 2. And it's that good. Kelly Slater, doing what he does best.
(*At the premiere, both Slater and Andy Irons campaigned for another surfer to take the final slot... but geeze, this one is fun to watch.)

That was so exciting, what a way to start the day, watching Kelly Slater, truly a marvel. Best I could do was hang 10 on a longboard, ha ha! I think he has more than twice as many titles as anyone else? Truly a legend, and at 48 he is still surfing competitively. I hope he wins some competitions In the years ahead.

It has never been, neither there is anyone that can produce a surfing like this. The surfing displayed in this video is my favorite kind.

Thank you for uploading this I heard Kelly had so much footage for his part that you guys had to cut a lot out I can't imagine the editing process. Also the directors commentary is super interesting for this movie it was cool to hear Taylor talking about each part then Matt beauchense ( i know I'm getting the name wrong) taking over the last part of

Longer boards more style +
Are slightly longer boards from 15-20+ years ago really that bad? They look to be “working” in this section.... omg
def think that theyre worse for the non pro but for the pros...especially Kelly? This might be the best surfing you'll ever seen him do ???? dunno
Are faster after bottom turn, have wider carves and can be applied more pressure
Of course the longer mid skool boards work lol. If the board is longer than the height of the rider, you get more drive and stability while still being able to turn pretty aggressively. All that is needed is an inch or 2 longer than the rider. In the mid skool days they seemed to have boards that looked kind of long, up to 4 inches longer than the height of the rider. Such as a 5'10 guy riding a 6'2. In current times we have a much closer tolerance between the board and the height of the rider. Most guys ride a board about an inch longer than their height. While some guys like Kelly ride boards at or an inch or 2 below their height. Boards like that turn and accelerate more quickly but have less stability, drive, and flow. I def think Kelly looks better riding boards above his height.
