- A superlative wildlife documentary on the Killer Whales of Patagonia. They are usually known as Killer Whales due to their hunting method they use in order to feed from elephant seals in the water and in their colonies. Their method consist in swimming very quickly towards the beach and intentionally beaching two thirds of their body on the shore thus capturing their prey in their mouth and then moving back into the water with energetic dorsal movements taking the elephant seal alive in order to share their hunt with the other members of their group.
Not a single "elephant seal" was harmed in this video! Only sea lions!
Shhhhh
I can't help it:) The orcas are so sociable, intelligent & pure beauty. They always will be my favorites among the sea❤️ I really love them and pray for the safety & well being of each one of these beautiful creatures 🙏
I remember my Dad getting a VHS tape Trials of Life of this when I was a teen ('90). Watching the Killer Whales beach themselves to hunt and then flop back into the water was the coolest thing ever. They would take the prey to the deep and flick it in the air with their tales in triumph.
*tails, not “tales!” You might want to go back and “re-edit” your post.
I remember my dad already watched it but the tape become tangled inside and it took hours to take the tape out and use the knife to wind it back up 😂
Why u gotta LIE!!!???😡😡😡
This OS my favorite documentary killer whales thank you
Calling them “monster killer whales” is not appropriate. Sensationalist.
Awesome Video ❤️ Thank You
You’d think after 2 or 3 shore attacks the seals would get it, apparently not. 😮
Very good point 😂
Excellent long term memory, poor short term memory. What's fascinating though, is that the orca apparently know this.
Just wondering, whether there's been a noticeable reduction in the size of their fins, since beach hunting observations began.
My favorite sea life member.
It's a beauty to look at and the sea creatures might be the only thing left on this earth in time to come.
Good video about beach hunting by Orcas. Inside videography of beach hunting would have made the video a masterpiece. Anyway many tnx for making such a informative video on beach hunting by Orcas.
Valdes peninsula is amazing piece on earth for marine wildlife.
Orca my fav 🐋
Very nice 👍👍👍💗
That was awesome.😊Thanking you for the upload.Cheers 🍻
Danke für die wunderschönen Videos.👏🤓🙋💌🍀
It's amazing how these crew know the names of the orcas.
They are gangsta!
It’s crazy to me that elephant seals can get up to 17 feet. That’s the size of a great white shark. And it’s crazy that great whites hunt them when they are that big.
maybe its because great whites have the equivalent of chain mail and massive teeth.
And the Orcas hunt the Great Whites too…
IN MY VIEW
9:35 & 10:08 This is extraordinary information about killer whales.
Sorry to be pendantic, but Johnstone Straight is nowhere near the "North East" coast of Canada. Infact the Whales you speak of are over 4,000km from the "North East" waters of Canada.
7:40 i like this confrontation. I like how serious the seagull is while at the same time knowing full well that the seal pup is just a big fat baby.. but still bigger than itself, forcing the seagull unwillingly go full streetfighter mode while moving backwards to not get squashed by the big goofy hairy fatbag. You even see his two seagull buds turn around, walking away while laughing at his misfortune.
Great documentary
So cute 🥰
It's confusing to me. There are: elephant seals, sea lions, regular seals.... etc.
The big ones are Elephant Seals cause of there trunks you can tell the differen. Females dont gave trunks but there big. There are also Leopard Seals, there bigger then regular seals, they hunt the small seals, theres a few different types
Me too. I was born confuse & all these animals ,creatures, mammals, u name it are to be study/earned/ ....amazing there's something new to learn everyday..
The CREATOR is MIGHTY..
Does anyone know which program or where the clip is that during beach hunting seals, the whales release the last one back to the beach to keep the population of seals healthy? David Attenborough narrated this I believe as it happened, but I cannot find that particular clip anywhere anymore nor remember what program I saw it on, but I remember seeing it
Wolves of the Sea 1993,
Nat Geo have a segment on it too ruclips.net/video/DWsN63PRCW8/видео.html
Write down his name and it might just come up.....
I only heard the first names of Whalefish, like Hammond, Craig, Kahn, and Mega but I have heard the last name of whale fish, IS IT ORCA?
Elephant seals, Sea Lions, Sea Leopards, Orcas get them all.
And sharks and whales.
Orcas are dolphins, btw.
I comment this on almost every orca video I see because they are always mistaken for being whales, because they’re big and nicknamed “Killer Whales”, and for some reason it just always pisses me off, even though it seems so trivial. But, yeah, they’re dolphins.
I Understand I Just Said That Exactly Last Night Why Are They Still Referred To As Killer Whales When They Are Dolphins Then I Said Because Killer Dolphins Doesn't Fit The Cute Narrative Like Killer Whales.
Small correction. At 6:51, "[the sea lions'] sleek bodies were designed to move through the water at speed."
Their bodies weren't designed at all, they evolved to move quickly through the water. Intelligent Design is a Christian myth.
My favorite animal. I would never get in the water with them
At 09:50 did they really name seal Maga and Mel. BTW great Documentary
Mel is the large bull orca, Maga is the large female. They are two of the most successful orcas to ever hunt that beach. Mel sadly passed away back in 2011.
I wonder if these are the same orcas that hunt the Elephant seals and penguins at the Crozet islands. Or maybe the pods are familiar with each other because they hunt the same way.
Why don’t the seals just get out of the water once orcas start attacking?? Just get onto the safe shore. It seems seals are plenty intelligent enough.
now! this is good
Not even the ELEPHANT seals are safe
I love ORCA. We really need them protected.
👍
Fin slowly lowers… engage stealth mode
Cacophony!
Tat was allsome
Nothing that these animals do defy the laws of nature. They are the laws of nature. It's just human stuck on their perception of what are the laws of nature.
