Noones gonna mention how instead of sacrificing people on who they actually are, they tried to force them into the wrong roles? "The Jock" is shown to be the biggest book worm in the opening recommending books, the "Virgin" slept with a professor, the "Fool" tries to stop them stupidly going to the basement/summoning baddies, figures everything out, fights off the monsters, etc, the "Bookworm" is more sporty (manages to catch the horrible throw early on), and the "Slut" has to be drugged to sleep with her boyfriend.
Not to disrespect. That's the point of why the sacrifice didn't work. It explains itself in the movie.Comments to reactions are mostly just stuff like "Thor can't hold an American accent" or "did you notice the (insert random horror film reference)?"
The stoner dude was told to keep his shirt on during the lake scene because he was more ripped than Hemsworth lol...this movie is great. 💜
It kills me that no one seems to get the, "I learned it from watching you" quote. 😭 it was an old 80s "dont do drugs" commercial. I'm a 90s kid, but even I know that.

I forgot to mention that the coffee cup bong was a very costly device to make it is a fully functioning bong and I think cost 20,000 to make
They took a tiny piece from every great horror movie and threw it together to make this, brilliant writing. The cabin looks alot like the cabin from the evil dead, each character is manipulated into becoming a stereotypical horror cast type
This is basically an evil dead spinoff. Sam Raimi’s return to horror after the Spider-Man series. Ash’s car still rotting next to the evil dead cabin. The necronomicon bringing the evil into the world… but then with that amazing lovecraftian sci fi twist!

As much as I love this movie, I love Tucker And Dale Vs Evil (2010) better. It also lampoons horror movies, while having an important message of not judging a book by its cover and communication is key to avoid conflict. I find it hard to find a moral message in this movie.
Fun Fact: The movie's opening was a deliberate attempt by filmmakers Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon to confuse the audience and make them think they walked in to see the wrong movie.
High Technology Fact: The thermal coffee mug/bong was a fully functional mug and bong as portrayed in the film, the prototype of which cost $5000 to make.
Spartan Workout Fact: During the lake scene, the only student not to jump into the lake is Marty, who remains fully clothed on the dock. This was partially due to Fran Kranz noticeably being in as good, if not better, shape than the other male students. In the commentary for the film, the writers joke that he was "ripped like muscular Jesus" and assert that if Marty were shown being that fit it would ruin the character. This is partly why Marty wears baggier clothes than the other students.
the moral message in this movie is vast. the world isnt quite ready for it yet

I love Marty as much as the next person, but Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford are easily the best part of this movie for me. Best casting ever.

THE PRESTIGE MY DUDE. DO IT. ITS SO FUCKING EPIC. sir michael cane is in it, he recently formally retired from acting, it'd be a wicked tribute if you go with it! It's in my favorites, alongside Inglorious Basterds actually and also V for Vendetta. The storyline, cast and visuals all hit so well

"The Most Dangerous Game" was a 1924 short story about people being hunted for sport that I somehow had to read in school as a kid... anyway... the story is that the person being hunted turns the table on the hunters. Ice-T does it in Surviving the Game, Jean Claude van Damme does it in Hard Target, my favorite version I've seen so far is Rudy Youngblood in Apocalypto.
I love the way the lore of this movie explains all other horror movies. Now you know why they do dumn shiz like split up or bang it out in the creepy woods 😂

This movie... first time I saw it... no idea what to expect... it whipped me back and forth so much it was amazing. EDIT: The Prestige is a good one... Gollum, Batman, Wolverine and the Goblin King... also a horror film for sure EDIT 2: I forget that Scarlett Johansson is in it even though she does play a crucial role in it... my bad.

Freaky thing is the premise of this movie is likely loosely based except less corny and more terrifying. If you know you know
This movie is part of a recent trend in horror movies that I absolutely hate with a passion. That trend bring that the movie ends with the good guys having failed and the bad guys winning. In fact this one is worse because not only do the good guys die but its insinuated that everyone on the planet is going to die. I just don't get why people want to watch movies where evil wins.
It's the same reason I can't stand found footage films because you know right from the start due to it being that genre that there is no point in getting emotionally involved with and rooting for any of the characters because you already know that none of them are going to survive and the evil forces is going to be victorious.
Can anyone explain to me the appeal of watching a film where the heroes all die and evil wins? Because I just don't see it.

Nah man, I see the characters differently in the end. Those running the sacrifice, the people in the office, they're the good guys. They're trying to save humanity - for a small yearly fee of human sacrifice. It's NOT THEIR FAULT that the ANCIENT ONES are evil, bloodthirsty gods. In the end, Dana and Marty are selfish - sacrificing EVERY human on Earth because THEY don't want to die, and because of Marty's philosophy of letting society collapse. I love Marty's character throughout, but at the end... he disappointed me.
