This was the first of it's kind of movie. I went to the theater to see it! After this, all the slasher movies kicked off. Still, the simplicity of this film attracts me every Halloween. The kids were watching The Thing From Another Planet. It still holds up and has been remade a couple of times under The Thing.
I love this franchise so much 🥺❤️
The first Halloween is considered the best by critics and most fans.
Keep in mind that this was a very low budget independent horror film and when it was released in 1978 it was considered scary, but mainstream audiences have of course changed since the late 70's.
Nowadays it's hard for a horror movie to genuinely scare people since fans of horror have seen many different subgenres within horror so it's rare for modern horror movies to scare audiences.
This was a fun fact. I’m a big Halloween fan. This is my favorite scary movie franchise. I’m 31, so it’s been going on wayyy before I was born, but I’ve seen most, if not all. This information I didn’t know, though… very interesting.

Fun fact Jamie Lee Curtis' mom Janet Leigh was also an actress and starred in the mother of all slasher movies Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Which if you haven't seen Psycho add it to your list. There are a lot of classic movies from the 50s and 60s you would love.

Still one of the greatest horror movies ever. In refernce to them driving for hours getting high, not necessarily. Back then, Daylight Savings ended in mid October, so it would be dark between 5 - 530pm. It was in 2007 when it changed to November.

Wrong mate. 'Black Christmas' was before this in 1974 and the original slasher that started it was 'Psycho' in 1960.
True, it wasn't the first "slasher" movie, but it was the one that kicked off all the slasher movie franchises that followed immediately after.

Great reaction to my favourite movie of all time. I love all of your energy and enthusiasm you put into these reactions, if that makes sense. This is my favourite movie franchise, and ironically the only Halloween i don't like is Resurrection. I really hope you do react to the sequels, and recommend you start with Halloween 2 (1981) because it continues the same night where this ends.
Just so you know it was melted butter Annie spilt on herself not water, but i agree getting undressed was overreacting. I first saw this film aged 5 (i'm 42) and her death is one of the few horror moments to have made me jump, but taught me a valuable lesson even though I don't personally drive, always check the backseat before getting in a car lol.
Oh and a word of advice if you are hesitant to watch Halloween 2 as i suggested, remember what Randy said in Scream 2, the sequel is always bloodierband a higher death count. For me though the original is perfect, i do love the sequel as well though.

Halloween 2 (1981) you should for sure watch. I thought the 2nd one was more scary than the first one. Still love the first one though. But Halloween 2 is next level with the suspense.

Yea bro you gotta continue the "John Carpenter" Halloween films, then do the Rob Zombie Remakes, then the new Halloween movies just just came out. Rob Zombies ones went a different way but they got some real good outlooks. Can't wait for the next ones bro. SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON YALL 💯

I always enjoyed the Halloween movies with I think it was Laurie's daughter, Jamie. I still laughed during the movies, but idk what it is ahout the Halloween movies. I still find them enjoyable. The first one is probably my least favorite, but I'm sure it was amazing the time it came out. Michael is much scarier to me in my mind because he moves so slow, but still manages to keep up with you.
Give us new Laurie timeline with Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends!!!! Then would love to see you do the original alternate Laurie timeline of Halloween 2, H20 and Resurrection. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Resurrection was a joke. This one is a classic and H20 was better. But I don't like jump scares they do nothing for me.

When you reach the Rob Zombie remake (2007) which gives a bit of Michael's background and home life, it might kind of relate to what you said about your time as a Counsellor, but that remake is a different re-telling and totally separate to most of the films, and in my opinion whilst enjoyable, it isn't 1% as good as the original you are watching here.

You should react to rob zombies halloween.. a bit controversial among Halloween franchise fans, but I do believe it is a good take on one and two. You should check out house of 1000 corpses and devils rejects also from Rob Zombie.

As a female, it pisses me off how Hollywood degrades females, especially teenaged girls. It seems every horror flick in the 70s & 80s had females taking their tops off.
You seem like a decent guy and you said you have a kid. Is your child a female?
Well, just imagine a female going to the movies in the 70s & 80's with a date and always having to sit there while they flash naked girls every 2 seconds. If you wanna watch a porn, have at it if that's your thing but there are individuals that want to see JUST a scary movie.
I saw an interview with John Carpenter where he was talking about this movie and he said, " I know I want there to be nudity." He should have said female nudity, right? Typical Male perv in Hollywood.
The only one worth a s*** in the series, IMO, is Halloween H20. It actually has a good storyline and, coincidentally, no nudity. Others may agree and others may not but we are all entitled to our opinion.

You need to get over that attitude, because even though you call them teenage girls, all the actresses were in their early 20's or over 18. The actresses were not forced to do nudity as when they put out the casting call it gives specific details about the role ie: height, age, hair color, gender, nudity and they specify topless, buttocks or full frontal. The film makers also know that the majority in the 70's & 80's horror audiences are young adolescent or young adult males who enjoyed sexuality with their horror. I can actually point out that these days it's way, way worse. Back then their was no such thing as 'Torture Porn'.
So I realize you're stating an opinion, so this is my rebuttal.
The actresses knew what they was doing back then.
