Scream: Wes Craven re-invented and revitalised the slasher-horror genre with this modern horror classic, which manages to be funny, clever and scary, as a fright-masked knife maniac stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia. Craven is happy to provide both tension and self-parody as the body count mounts - but the victims aren't always the ones you'd expect.

Fun fact about the cat door: Rose McGowan could actually fit through it without any hinderance. They had to staple her shirt to the garage door to make sure she didn't fall out when filming.
In 1996, caller ID was a thing, but people didn't really use it. Back then, when the phone rang, you picked up. But after this movie, caller ID became a big thing now.
Also, Gale meant to shoot them, but she didn't know the safety was on.
The reason for the twin beds is because Sydney spent a lot of time over there after mom was murdered. Dad traveled a lot
Scream is one of my favorite slasher movies of all time. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes. It is credit for reinventing and revitalizing the slasher and horror genre which we're considered dead, boring, and repetitive at the time. It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old. 😍😎💯👍
OF COURSE SCREAM IS SUCH A MASTERPIECE I SEE IT 8 TIMES IN THEATERS
You can tell at beginning you didn’t really want to watch this. And i could tell midway through how much you was getting into it.. I really enjoyed your reaction and I hope this experience helped you realize to come in to a movie with an open mind. Scream is a classic for a reason.
During filming Scream Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard (Stu) actually started dating and did for little over two years. So when he said " I always had a thing for you Sid" it was true lol. Courtney Cox and David Arquette also started dating when filming Scream and were married for years. Their divorced now but they do have a daughter and still have a close friendship.
Also Neve nd skeet both were in the craft
I always noticed how there were no rips in Billy's shirt where he was supposedly "stabbed" but never noticed the clean knife!
After watching it this time I do see what you’re talking about about the knife being clean and then it’s not right after Billy is stabbed. I did also notice when Billy was at the door letting Stew in his shirt was not ripped.
Another thing I really hate about this movie is during the scenes when the killer takes a swipe at somebody or should I say when he takes a swipe at Sydney there is a ‘dog growling’ noise that they edit in and it’s really quite annoying.
I think the ghostface in the bathroom was another prank. He had no weapon on him
Fun Facts:
- It took them 5 days to do the kitchen scene.
- So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior its true cause the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger was Wes Craven lol. Wes Craven also directed Nightmare on Elm Street.
- Billy AND Stu were at Casey's and used their girlfriends as Alibis for being out. Stu was on the patio with Steve while Billy was in the front tormenting her on the phone. The question about "Which door am I at" was a trick question. Stu ran to the front door to let Billy in. When her mom was hearing Casey breathing you hear one talking to another saying tree and the the phone ends.
- Wes Craven lol to get his actors into character emotionally like Drew Barrymore and Neve Campbell right before he start to film he would run up to them and tell them something sad like dead puppies and then run off and yell action lol. Drew's emotions were legit cause of Wes and for her love for animals lol.
- They casted Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and gave him the same kind of hair style cause of how close he looked like to young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street where he also climber through a bedroom window.
- The news lady that was harassing Sidney "how does it feel to almost being butchered" that's Linda Blair from the Exorcist.
-Casey's comment about Nightmare on Elm Street about how the first was good but the rest sucked. It's because Wes didn't direct all of the other ones lol.
-Kenny actually saved Sidney in his literal final moment after his throat got slashed. He pointed to the back and told her door so she could crawl out.
- Ghostface in the bathroom was a prank on Sidney it wasn't either Billy or Stu.
- Rose (Tatum) was actually able to fit through the doggy door. They had to pin her shirt to the door cause she kept falling out.
- When Billy hit Stu in the head with the phone it was a accident on Skeets part. The fake blood was so sticky and ended up hitting Matthew Lillard instead of the desk and that was a real reaction to it. Wes loved it so he kept it lol. Matthew also improved his lines with "Houston we have a problem" "the peer pressure" and the comment about his parents lol.
- When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time it actually hit Skeet where he had heart surgery when he was younger that was also his real action to the pain.
- Drew Barrymore was supposed to play Sidney. But she ended up changing her mind and went to Wes with a idea to have her as the open kill cause no one would expect it. Also would show if they could kill a huge star right off the bat it would mean NO ONE was safe.
-Even though Billy was at sidneys for the attack. It was actually Stu who she fought with when he was tripping up the stairs you can hear ghostface saying "easy" "easy". The next day at the lockers he was checking his face in tatums mirror for any bruises and when Tatum was hitting him with her sucker he says "easy" "easy.
-Billy was always 1 handed with his killing if he had a knife if didn't he resorts to choking except for Tatum he used the opportunity with the garage door. Stu uses both hands when using the knife and resorts to other tactics if doesn't have knife.
- Billy killed Tatum so she would be out of the way so he can be near Sidney. He also gives a signal look to Stu that Tatum has been handled.
-Stu was the one that called Dewey about the abandon car and also called Randy about the principal after the whole "I'll be right back". Billy killed the principal so they can use him later that night as a deploy to get rest of the stragle guests to leave so the real party can began
Fun Fact : The man dressed like Freddy is the Director Wes Craven who also Created Freddy Cruger. He is one of the best Horror movie legends. The man that created A nightmare on elm st and Scream RIP 🪦🖤🥺
Another fun fact: Wes Craven got the name Fred krueger from a bully in his high school
So he died? It's kinda sad he spent his last years as a janitor. I guess the movie business doesn't pay that much...
@@clutchnixon5880 Wes Craven died after he directed Scream 4 which was in 2011 and he died in 2015.
@@clutchnixon5880 His last work as Scream Season 1, he stayed at home while giving direction to it so that's why it paid alot of nods to the movies. Guy was a legend.
*Freddy Krueger. I know I’m 6 months late, but I just needed to fix your spelling of Freddy’s surname. It just got me a little bit aggravated, that’s all. It’s no insult
Seen this movie 50 times never noticed the clean knife. Good on you my dude
He focused too much on it though. It’s just another take, Ghostface also wipes the knife, then we change shot and he wipe it again. Filmmaking is HARD haha, mistakes happen
@@JGrantUK It was actually done purposely with the knife thing. He added the blood to make it look real for Sidney and then did the famous wipe off the blade.
@@dancerkris95 yeah… but he does it TWICE is my point. It’s just a continuity error.
@@JGrantUK The first time he is wiping the "blood" on.
Fun fact: Drew was so scared and immersed in her character she accidentally dialed 911 during filming👻🔪
Absolutely fckn lost it when Billy popped up coincidently & you wasn’t having it staring at the camera 🤣🤣🤣😂
Had me rolling at your reaction boss
Made us scream fans proud 🥲
The annoying reporter asking how does it feel to be almost butchered is none other than our little Regan in the movie the exorcist
Most of us still didn't lock our doors back then if we were home. Only when we left. I have one of the vcr/dvd player recorder. My son bought it for me years ago so I could dub my vhs tape collection over to dvd.
Sydney is 17 and a senior.
when I was very little in the late 90's-early 2000's we even had our front door wide open in late spring to let in the cool-slightly warm air
Also Woodsboro is a small town. People in small towns just don't lock their doors like city people do. When my parents downsized after I went to university they had to put new locks on the doors because they had no idea where the keys were and this was in the 00s.
@@katiest.vincent4283 it would be more of a stereotype of the midwest because literally that is what we do here, I lock my doors because I have seen enough horror movies
The janitor at the school is Wes Craven himself dressed like Freddy Kruger
Hell yeah I remember the VHS/DVD combo...back then if you had one of those, you were rollin'...I used to have a Discman too...how many people even remember what that is now? Hahaha
Since you liked this one so much don’t forget to check out Scream 2, 3 and four and 5 will be coming out later next year. They definitely continue the story line.
Just found your channel. I'm starting with this so I can watch the other sequel reactions. Big horror fan.
Horror movie buff here! 👋My guy... You are hilarious! 😂You noticed everything you were supposed to notice in this movie!💯Great reaction!
Thank you Kameika and thank you for the support
Check out Final Destination it’s a wild ride 🖤🖤 and yes watch the sequels lol 😂
Your face when he dropped the phone tho 🤣🤣🤣🤣You gotta watch the original Halloween
*stares*
*takes off classes and stares more*
🤣
I just stumbled onto this reaction today and I am really really really really really really hoping you've binged the whole series now cuz I really would like to see if you called the other Killers! 😅
Nightmare on Elm St is my favorite!
Definitely check out that franchise
You're the first reactor I've seen catch the fake stabbing of Billy!
Matthew Lillard ( Stu) and (Shaggy in scooby doo) also the old scary movie 13 ghost, he is such a legend
The Scream movies are my weakness and guilty pleasure. I've been a fan since the beginning. I hope you watch them all since the new one will be out in January.
Oh and Freddy ain't all bad. Nightmare on Elm Street was my first horror movie at age 13 at a birthday slumber party. I fell in love with horror movies that night.
Gotta check it out now
omg ! Mine too xD Same with the first Jason movie...forgive my stoner brain for forgetting lmao but that's awesome, I'm glad there were other horror kids out there !
@@staytuned2L337 My love of horror movies transferred to 2 of my 3 grown children. My youngest learned a bit of FX makeup and does hers and her friends makeup at Halloween. My middle child's birthday is the day before Halloween so, like me, he loves his horror movies.
I love scary paranormal movie reactions. They are the absolute best. Lol
You are the only one that I've heard of that actually caught the thing with the knife when Billy was getting "stabbed" in the bedroom. Most people miss it lol. Stu added the fake blood onto the knife to make Sidney think it's real and then did the famous wipe off the blade.
Fun fact, The janitor in scream 1 at the highschool is wes craven the creator of scream and nightmare on elm street that's why the janitor is dressed like freddy kruger
Fav horror franchise. I hope you watch the next 3 (soon to be 4). Just subbed as I loved the reaction
Aye I just found this channel and I love this keep it up man, have a goodnight ya
Great Reaction as Usual!! 👍🏿 The volume for the movie was very low and the volume on your speaking sounded very loud. I had to keep adjusting the volume. Keep up the great reactions! 🙂
This was the best Scream reaction I've seen
He didn't stab her in the neck. He crushed her windpipe. Listen to the sound in the full film when she punches the knife and he crushes the sht out of her neck. Her sht was CRUSHED!
Randy was my favorite :D. Maybe because I'm a huge horror movie fan too and his rules are still ICONIC which makes this movie iconic for that reason. It's meta and pays nods to other horror movies. Randy's the narrator of horror. Fun fact: Randy's actor's name is Jamie Kennedy, during that TV scene with Ghostface behind him, it was like him talking to himself lol.
Lmao. Not that she ain't asleep. Hilarious
You said “Way back when I was a young jit” and now I have to know if you’re from Florida? 😂
Caller ID WAS a thing not long before this movie came out... and the release of this movie increased the sales of caller ID by like 500%.
This is my favorite slasher movie of all time 💯 RIP Wes Craven!
You should watch Texas chainsaw massacre 2003, the hills have eyes, & the devil’s rejects which is a sequel to house of 1000 corpses. Rob zombie also did a great remake of Michale Myers origin story Halloween 2007
He ended up pointing out something that might have been a editing error but ends up making the plot more solid
Great reaction to my favorite horror film!! This movie has everything. You should totally react to the rest of the franchise, they are ALL good, even if people will try to tell you otherwise. Sidney is amazing!! Scream 5 (which is actually simply called Scream like this one) comes out in January.
Fun fact about the actress and the cat door. She could actually fit through it but seeing as how that's her death scene. She had to pretend to not fit through.
I actually had one of those! A Dvd/vcr player. It really was the shit back then.
Def should watch Scream 2 🙌🏽
The new Scream movie comes out January 14th. It’s the day after my birthday and I’m super excited
Don't know if you caught this but the actor that plays Randy his name is Jamie Kennedy and he's watching Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween. He's telling Jamie to turn around that he's right behind you all while Ghostface is also behind him where he also needs to turn around lol. It's little things like that truly makes Wes Craven an amazing director with how he puts the little things like that together.
Okay I'm writing a separate comment. The thing that made this movie so great, is normally if you were watching a horror movie and you said oh man it's Billy it's so obvious, there's no fucking way it's Billy. It was really clever because the horror freak lovers like me, if they see how I obviously it is that it's Billy, we know that there's no fucking way it's going to be him. And the people that really don't watch horror movies that much, at least movies like this that are kind of a mystery, they are going to see Billy and say it's so obvious it's him and it must be him. Which in any other case it never would be. So it played off of both horror lovers and people who don't really watch them. Which was perfect. And by stabbing him as the misdirection, it made everyone go with the fuck, and by making stu so obvious but then switching it up back to Billy and then straight back Stu again, it was just fucking brilliant.
Love this series. It really started my love for horror movies when I saw this first one as a kid lol. Slasher movies in particular can be fun depending on how you look at it so I can understand preferring them over paranormal movies. Also, Sidney is my favorite "final girl." 🖤
I agree Major. Nobody talks shit about my momma. They will catch these hands.
I haven't locked my door while I'm home or not home for like a year and a half. Also she could not speak because when he went to choke her he crushed her larynx or w.e it's called. If you watch it you can see how hard he hits.
Calling Courtney cox Demi Moore to friends fans is hysterical and most know that no it’s Dudley Moore 😂
Late to this reaction but fun fact: the reporter asking about her brutally butchered mother is Linda Blair who played Reagan in the exorcist
You should watch the sequels! ;)
You talked through most of the important dialogue and the best scenes
I enjoyed your comments immensely - you are too funny :)
I met Billy and stu last year I got there autographs and a picture with them
That just shows you how much of a bad Sidney is she was able to fight off the first attack in like 5 mins while casey unfortunately didn't have the survival instinct Sidney had.
We need more scary reactions😭😭
Billy and stu are definitely the best ghostface
Scream is iconic!
scream 2.. awesome
Yo loved your reaction dude
Should crank the movie volume, have you on full blast to hear the movie.. lol you screamin while the movie is whispering 😂😂
Respectfully, I agree.
The mic is distorting and we’re straining to hear the film.
No biggie, but it would be nice if that was fixed, bro.
Casey in the beginning does live in the middle of nowhere. The killer mentions the police and how they'll never make it in time when she threatened to call the police..
Courtney Cox had to lobby her ass off to get the role of Gale, because the people in charge of casting were refusing to even consider her. They saw her playing nice as Monica on Friends, and just assumed that she couldn't play mean. They auditioned Jeanine Garofalo and Brooke Shields for the role of Gale.
David Arquette, the guy playing Dewey, was originally up for the role of Billy. However, he read the script and liked the role of Dewey more.
Drew Barrymore was originally signed on as Sidney, but she ended up having scheduling conflicts the would prevent her from being able to play the staring role. However, she still wanted to be a part of the movie, and talked Wes into letting her play the opening victim.
One of the other people who were up for the role of Billy Loomis, ended up being cast as Steve Orth, the first murder victim of the movie.
Family Video was the shit! I used to rent Nintendo 64 games all the the time. The one we used to go to is like a liquor store now or something
Regarding the bathroom scene: Sidney didn't just attack the cheerleader because she was learning all this stuff about her mother that she didn't want to believe. Obviously she was hurt by what the cheerleader said, but I think she was hurt more by the realization that it was the truth.
Regarding the garage scene: The killer closed the garage door. That's why Tatum couldn't escape through it. Also, Rose Mcgowan could actually fit through the cat door.
Just because someone has a gun in their hand, doesn't mean they are experts on using the gun. Gale wouldn't necessarily know the safety was on.
Also, when you said "everyone needs to have a strap-on", I laughed so hard. I knew what you meant, but it was funny.
Times are a lot different now, we dont even answer the phone if we don't know who's calling (I don't even answer it if I know the number...just text me my dude). But back in the day (like when Scream was released) it wasn't unusual to actually stay on the line and talk to a wrong number for a minute if you were bored and liked the person's voice. I had a friend who met a boyfriend that way. In college I got a wrong number call and the guy had a super sexy voice and we stayed on the phone and flirted for a while. It wasn't as weird as it sounds now (it even sounds weird to me and I can remember doing it).
Also the house my husband and I live in (which was the house I grew up in) is similar enough in feel and architectural style and the setting (the yard etc) to Casey's house that after this movie my friends kept calling my house "the Scream house" which didn't help when I was home alone.
Love your reactions ❤.
Thank you so much!!
This was hilarious 😂😂 new sub 👍
I love your look at the camera 🤩😱
They live in the woods! Lol the precinct has like 8 cops. Very rural.
The Jason you are describing is Jason takes Manhattan.
You confused Courtney Cox with Demi Moore lol.
In all seriousness, if you want to tie everything together and make sense of the tropes and references in this film, I recommend you at least watch/react to:
Halloween
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Friday The 13th
Don’t worry about the sequels, none of them are equal, (most all of them have different directors and production teams) and only a true horror fan can appreciate most of them.
i am glad you like it so much
You were thinking of Halloween resurrection.

Thank you!
The new one comes out in January!
🖤🖤🖤
If you like Scream, watch all 4. It is a great franchise. The new movie, coming out on January 14th, looks to be amazing too.
Stu and Billy stabbed each other to make it look like they were victims and frame the father
The Strangers is a good movie if you like the slasher genre. It's terrifying cuz it could really happen.
Yes!!!!!! Loved the movie. That one can't watch home alone, especially living in middle of nowhere like I do
The Halloween with Busta Rhymes was Resurrection, which is the 8th movie. I'm glad you liked it, but there are quite a few of the Halloween movies which most people like a lot more, so i hope you check out some of those too, i especially love the original from 1978, 2 from 81 and 4 from 88.
The Friday The 13th was again Part 8: Jason takes Manhattan, i actually really like that one and think it's one of the best along with Part 6 and 5, but most people don't like it as much, but i'm glad you did.
Definitely adding those movies to the list so I can react to them
You 100% did not call that bro lol
You are too funny 😂
If u plan on watching this franchise u should watch the spoof movies scary movie 💀 it’s funny af just makes fun of movies and break the 4th wall soo many times btw Tatum she could actually fit through the soggy door so she had to fake it
supeer reaction
Nightmare on Elm Street 😂😈😈
Scream is one of my favorite horror movies l mean who hasn’t liked scream Jason or Freddy Kruger l have since I was little one of the best is Halloween
when the youtuber is handsome and funny. #Whenblackpeoplewatchscarymovies
Sydney is best final girl x
That was halloween with Busta and Tyra. 6 or 7 maybe
Halloween Resurrection was 8. H20 was 7...
@@AshLee92490 thank you! I was guessing lol
And 6 was that really terrible Cult of thorn thing, Donald Pleasent died before that movie came out. Such a shame it was his last movie.
I saw this movie like 35 times when I was a kid with my best friend. We saw it like 15-20 times in theaters.
YOOOO H20 did have busta in ittttt!!!! I loved that one.
But yeah ghosts and haunted shit? I don’t fux with it either my friend!
I can’t believe I missed this. Was so damn excited for GoT reactions I just overlooked this I guess.
Yo Freddy is scary AF too, invading your dreams and shit…nut uhhhhh.
Not watching ur dune reaction cuz I haven’t seen it yet but I’ll still thumb up it, my guy!
I was a poor (welfare poor) young adult (16) in 96 and the closest thing to caller ID we had was *69 which could be blocked by *67. But caller ID might have existed for the rich folk.
Not working right now but when I do I’m joinin the Patreon :)
I did absolutely used to sleep thru my work alarm after high school. I was in that early release program and I’d go home to nap sure as shit I’d always sleep thru that alarm. Them sleeps was the best in my life hahah. Except the 8am-11am I sometimes find myself in
I do remember Blockbuster and Family Video. But we had one by us El Cheapo. They used to have a Street Fighter 2 arcade game that I used to play while moms (you don’t talk shit bout my momma either, thems fightin words immediately) would pick out movies.
After Scream, the amount of ppl buying caller ID’s spiked by a LOT.
H20 didn't have Busta Rhymes. It had LL Cool J. Busta was in Resurrection.
Scream 4 is my favorite 😈
And they got the new scream (2022) out available to watch too boss !
The Family Video I used to go to is a fuckin Dollar General now
Same bro
