    I got one of these a couple of years ago, and while I've been a huge Klein tool fan for years. going back to the late 70's when I was 14 and started wiring houses, this screwdriver has one huge flaw. If you apply too much downward pressure on a tight screw, the bit collapses back inside the tube. It does this on either side. They should have made positive stops on both sides.

      @@sanders858 This has nothing to do with the right tool for the job, this screwdriver, at least the one I have is pretty much worthless. I just bought one after watching this and it is a cool driver. the only negative is that Klein uses 3.5mm bits instead of 4mm and the main shaft isn't 1/4. basically you have to buy the 2 addon bits that klein offers and you are very limited. if you just want a philips/slot driver then it is great.

    Only prob is you can't torque a screw without holding the black part of handle as the whole yellow part freely spins. The spinning grey cap which is pressed up against your palm your thumb and index finger can't spin the yellow part making it hard to work with when wiring up low voltage side of pool automation systems

  • @marksgear1032

    When applying torque, does the green bit spin around the shaft on yours? Mine did and made it essentially useless for anything tight. Aside from that and the soft bits I liked it. Had better luck with their full set of precision screwdrivers but those lack the variations you can have with this tool. I’m still looking for the perfect one. Also, loved hearing you say shaft so many times.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  3 года назад +2

      Hmmmm, maybe ours are different. The yellow part spins freely around the driver, but it moves independently - so the handle/shaft/bit are all in a fixed position and move together, so you basically get as much torque as your muscles will allow. The yellow piece’s ability to move freely doesn’t prevent that.

    • @GearedTowardGear1

      p.s. Shaft.

      Hey man. Not in this size, no. They’ve got some 1/4” bit drivers but they’re all quite big.

  • @mikem8145

    I've read some owners complaining that the yellow sleeve is rotating freely and they need to hold the black rubberized grip to screw. Your unit does not do that?

    • @Panotaker
      @Panotaker 2 года назад

      The yellow sleeve is just to cover up the tip so you don't stab yourself when you put the screwdriver in your pocket. You are not supposed to use the yellow part to remove screws, because it slips on the shaft. To use the screwdriver, you use the black handle part on the end of the screwdriver, just like every other screwdriver.

    • @mikem8145
      @mikem8145 2 года назад

      @@Panotaker Of course! You did not understand the issue here. The black rubber part is very short in length and naturally your fingers end up on the yellow sleeve. I know, I finally bought one. So if you think about it it’s pretty obvious the design flaw here! As another owner said, it would have been very easy for Klein to design a notch to prevent the yellow/protector to freely rotate. It only needs to slide over the tip to protect your shirt pocket. The rotation is totally unnecessary. Note that for now the silicone O-ring is so tight that the yellow sleeve does not rotate so easily. But you cannot apply much torque (screw or unscrew a tight screw) by holding the screwdriver by the yellow sleeve that’s for sure. And the thing with the black rubberized section is that the pocket clip is almost as long. So I constantly hit the damn clip when using the screwdriver. I could easily take it off. But then who would like to use a pocket screwdriver without a pocket clip?!? Very bad ergonomics from Klein on that one.

    • @Panotaker
      @Panotaker 2 года назад

      @@mikem8145 I understand the issue just fine. It just never dawned on me to use the yellow part to turn a screw. I just naturally use the black handle, just like every other small screwdriver I have ever used. I mainly bought this screwdriver for the sliding yellow part, so it doesn't stab me when I put the tool in my pocket. Klein makes a cheaper version of this screwdriver without the yellow sliding piece. The pocket clip I took off, since I just put the screwdriver in my jeans pocket.
