Very well thought out kit John. Got choked up when you mentioned your father giving you that tool set, I lost my dad 4 days ago suddenly. He gave me a set of Allen wrenches just like yours. I’m going to build a kit like this. Thank you for the inspiration.
My opinion on tool kits. Tools give you options. The more tools you have the more options you have. Some tools are better than no tools. Each person should have their own EDC to fit their needs.
That's a really cool little kit. I would think a small needle nose pliers would also be helpful in the kit, just thinking out side the box a little. You have a good one and God Bless.
An excellent video with excellent information. I just have one suggestion. It may be helpful to add some thread or thin string to be used with the needle/awl. Thank you for the new ideas!
Excellent small tool pouch! Obviously the person who made the negative comment has never been in a situation with NO tools! I can tell you, that after having been stuck on the Ohio river with a broken down outboard motor and having to carve a stick to insert into the carburetor where the air mix screw had vibrated out and then had a steering cable break as well as a dead battery to boot, I would have been very glad to have a small tool kit like yours! (It was a bad day! Lol!)
Hi John, this kit is one of the most comprehensive ones I have seen in its class. I like it and will be using your kit as a guide to building one for my roadside safety kit. Thank You
Hi John, I LOVE, LOVE your tool kit. The zip tie trick is highly ingenious and made me laugh so hard. I also like your SEIKO SKX. I have one just like it SKX 009. ONE CRITIC: You missing a magnet. Preferably get the antenna magnet with a pen clip. John, May God bless you and may life be good to you. And I did subscribe to your channel. We need more content from you
Another great kit. Since it's a little larger, adding a retractable magnetic retriever always proves to be handy, especially if you drop a small screw on the ground in the grass. Keep up the great work.
Ya gave me a idea 💡 with the magnet, my tool kit/edc kit is in a maxpedition fatty, also like how he carries his zip ties,, i carry a lot of stuff in mine but it also doubles as my edc pouch also 👍👍
Very well thought out, you can tell this is built over time through experience with actual useful tools. Unlike a lot of tool kits you see on youtube that are made up with a bunch of fancy overpriced tools that never get used
Valid criticism from the person saying that 'small kits' like this aren't good for a lot of jobs...yeah, you aren't going to use this kit to build a fence, change a tire, or chop down a tree - but it could certainly help you change out a starter on your truck or motorcycle on the side of the road and get you home, make an electrical repair, or help a friend fix a home appliance or assemble something they just bought. It could certainly be a weekend saver if you took it along on a trip to some place remote and were able to make a repair that kept you from having to cut your vacation short to resolve the issue. I'm all about having the 'right tool for the right job' and roll my eyes at some of the gimmick multi-tools you see in some of these kits that, IMHO, aren't even worth carrying. That is not the case here. This kit is chocked-full of EXTREMELY useful and versatile tools that will easily slip into a pants pocket, center console, saddle bag, or side pocket of a backpack. Great balance of functionality and portability. 👍
Great ideas. I I’m a Fedex courier and I’ve been looking into putting together a small toolkit for when I’m on the road. Got some great ideas from you, thanks.
Really impressed with that. I would suggest looking at the Knipex Plier Wrench. It replaces the adjustable wrench but it far more useful 86 03 125 That is the 5" size. They do larger ones.
This seem to cover most scenarios that might pop up throughout he day. I like it. I have a lot of these tools already just never thought of pooling them together in one kit. 👍🏽🛠
Thanks John, I love how you find ways of storing extra gear in places most wouldn't even think of. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for smaller tools now to build my own; all I own are large tools. I think I'll keep my Leatherman screwdriver bits in my kit as I find it too much to carry it in its' own belt pouch .
@ Survivalresources , Hi John, Long time no see, I met you at a PathFinders Gathering. Great small tool kits. Very Common Sense. I made a tool pouch around my Leatherman Crunch, Surge, SpeedHex & Speeedfit 1/4 and 5/16 Drive Bits. My tool kit is very complete and bloomed into 2 a pouch kit. My tool kit blends right in with my truck tool kitand its heavy duty tools. Thanks again the great video. Peace out Todd.
Wow what a great kit of course you've got knipex pliers and mini vice grips which are infinitely useful. But then you've got that tiny little super versatile ratchet and the doctor what you McCall it tool and jeweler files that I have never seen before. Great stuff. Also like the idea of putting the sewing awl needle in the handle you already have
great kit, I already have a pouch like that, Im going to do something similar. Also the socket set can be found at home depot now made by makita, exact same design and they even throw in a 1/4" socket bit.
My one gripe about Maxpedition pouches is that the external netting is so tightly sewn to the main body of the pouch that one can only fit thin items behind the netting. There should be more play.
Thanks! I've finally found someone who has the same mini file/screwdriver sets and know where I can find them. I got mine from Radioshack and have always wondered who made them. Now I know I can get spares. 👍
Great little kit! Small tool kits are super handy. That's almost the exact same setup I carry in a small 10" tool bag for service plumbing work. The bag is larger just in case I need room for parts. If the problem happens to be too big then I can grab full sized or specialty tools.
Great package! I got some ideas from it:) I did one like it, a while back I realized there was a whole lota handle in that so I got rid of most of the handle-padding, that was a bunch of weight and thickness, I used the exact same maxpedition pouch. Just sharing ideas, I think these things are fun because no matter what you do there's always ways to tweek it, there is no perfect pouch. lock pickers are always a nice add, surprised I've never seen that on one of these videos
I have a Mini and Fatty Maxpedition organizers. The mini contains writing tools, phone charger, cable and a pair of earbuds, as well as a Fenix light and two 18650 spare batteries. The Fatty is my EDC first aid kit. For tools I use some similar pouch, Solognac - an Decathlon hunting brand. In that one I have Knipex Pliers Wrench, snips, and 140 mm nose pliers, also Mob-IUS bit screwdriver kit, and an Leatherman Wave with its bit set.
thats a nice kit you made. but i think you could add a leatherman surge with the bit set that way you could replace a lot of your tools maybe nearly half of them plus the surge will have things like a scissors and at the same time you get space for other things you want to add
I don’t put a multi tool in the tool pouch as the kit is not on my person. I carry a Leatherman Wave with complete bit set and bit extender on my belt everyday. That is my first go to. If I need more, I can then go to the tool pouch.
@@JDMSurvivalResources i understand. i just say if you had a leatherman surge you could make gone of the cutter - the saw - the file - the knipex pliers - the bit kit in other words most of the tools you have in your pouch come with the leatherman surge. now that i know you got a wave maybe i should say change your wave to a surge and you can take out many things from the pouch and exchange to other tools. But to each his / hers own before i forget thanks for your reply on a 3 year old video
Awrsome..been cobbing together a very similar kit, myself. Slightly larger and heavier...I'm going with 6" tools (Irwin water pump pliers like your knipex) I also have a leatherman surge and appropriate addons for that...
improvise. adapt. overcome. well now, you're going to have to put that for sale in the SR store. and to that negative nelly, he probably uses a Leatherman for his main tool edc. thanks for sharing, Teufel Hunden. Semper Fi.
Very good kit, I have a very similar one, with a leatherman crunch instead of the vice grip plus wire cutter. And I have a hex bit driver in combination with the ratchet with bits.
This is an amazing compact tool kit. Besides the obvious. What makes this kit so good is it's based on real tools, not a multi-tool like a Leatherman or Gerber for example. Not knocking multi-tools. I just think real tools are a better option for a tool kit like this. Too bad some of those items are no longer available.
Very good content. Very much liked the video. I myself is a mechanical engineer and loves to carry some edc toolkit with me anywhere I go. Very much useful information was provided in this video. Loved it😍
Very well done, sir. It's time for me to go tool shopping. Oh, the horror! The only things I don't see are a small flashlight and a folding razor knife/box cutter. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that you have those things somewhere else.
I can’t get the vice grips to fit in the middle loop of the left side in the new Maxpedition micro, I don’t know if they changed the design but it isn’t even close.
I also used the Maxpedition pouch for my really-EDC Tool kit (and, being German, there are the usual suspects of tools included, Knipex Cobra & so on). I posess quite a few Maxpedition organizers of various sizes for this and that and like them a lot, as other bags & packs, but for that size range I found the product of their competitor Vanquest to be superior. The PPM Slim, as it‘s called, is just a tiny bit larger, still fits well into my back jeans pocket and is better laid out, as far as the organizational straps etc. are concerned. Just as a hint to try out...
Hello John. Great video and excellent tool kit. I just have one suggestion based on what I've seen in other videos. it would help greatly if you could list out all your tools in the video description, along with places from where we can buy the tools. I understand that you did spell out the details of most tools in the video itself. However, a list upfront will make things easier for people to replicate your excellent tool kit. Thanks again for such a great video. Good luck!
almost identical to mine i don't have the vice grips or the knipex but all the other stuff is perfect one thing you should add is some krazy glue with some baking soda
Great video I made my own version recently a little bit more streamlined but I like the lack of bulk so it rides well in my front left pocket and I add things if I think I’ll need them that particular day. Your definitely seems to check all the boxes
Brilliant!!!!!
A very well thought out tool kit. Would be great for motorcycle traveling.
Very well thought out kit John. Got choked up when you mentioned your father giving you that tool set, I lost my dad 4 days ago suddenly. He gave me a set of Allen wrenches just like yours. I’m going to build a kit like this. Thank you for the inspiration.
sorry for your lost
Collection of very practical and useful tools in the kit. I enjoyed watching it.
CONGRATULATIONS
Honestly the best edc tool kit I’ve seen! No gimmicks here
My opinion on tool kits.
That zip tie placement is a great idea
Very sneaky on the zip ties...Nice!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
I can’t believe you have so many tools in such a small pouch.
At the 7:20 mark, that is an interesting socket rachet and bit screwdriver.
This was the video that started my Knipex pliers addiction!
One of the best ones I’ve seen. Some are just too much. For a small kit, this covers everything you could ever possibly need without the bulk.
An excellent video with excellent information. I just have one suggestion. It may be helpful to add some thread or thin string to be used with the needle/awl. Thank you for the new ideas!

The zip tie hide make my day
Hi John, this kit is one of the most comprehensive ones I have seen in its class. I like it and will be using your kit as a guide to building one for my roadside safety kit. Thank You
this is a great toolkit to have in your EDC even if you are camping or something well thought through aswell
Hi John, I LOVE, LOVE your tool kit. The zip tie trick is highly ingenious and made me laugh so hard. I also like your SEIKO SKX. I have one just like it SKX 009.

Agreed, love the small functionality of the kit
Love your company John. Always happy with my orders.
This kit is astonishing

Most impressive part if this video is he has all the sockets still from 30 years ago! Lol Cool kit!
Thanks
Great ideas. I
I’m a Fedex courier and I’ve been looking into putting together a small toolkit for when I’m on the road. Got some great ideas from you, thanks.
Let us see it.
How?
Amazing. All more functional stuff than a Leatherman.
Awesome kit. I like that really compact Allen wrench set from your Dad. Good old school solid design!
Very comprehensive kits
I probably use my mini tool kit more than my other tools
Always in my work pack
Great comprehensive kit. I love my Topeak Ratchet. I use it all the time.
Really impressed with that.
I would suggest looking at the Knipex Plier Wrench. It replaces the adjustable wrench but it far more useful
86 03 125 That is the 5" size. They do larger ones.
I love how you fitted that zip-tie into that seam.
Mind blown on that zip tie great work
Excellent kit. It's well thought out, and very nicely done. Good work.
This seem to cover most scenarios that might pop up throughout he day. I like it. I have a lot of these tools already just never thought of pooling them together in one kit. 👍🏽🛠

Nice kit. Love the Maxpedition pouches. I run a mini for my EDC
Outstanding, as always. In order for a tool to be useful one must be smarter than the tool.
Nice kit and great video. Thanks for making/sharing this vid.
Great video. Great small set-up. Thank you for the ideas.
@ Survivalresources , Hi John, Long time no see, I met you at a PathFinders Gathering. Great small tool kits. Very Common Sense. Absolutely awesome kit. One thing I'd add to mine though is a mini led flashlight. It seems I always need one when I don't have one.
Mini tools are all I've ever needed in an average emergency, on my bike or in the house, around the house.
Topeak ratcheting bit set, Leatherman Squirt, mini measuring tape. Got away with using only these for several years
Wow what a great kit of course you've got knipex pliers and mini vice grips which are infinitely useful. But then you've got that tiny little super versatile ratchet and the doctor what you McCall it tool and jeweler files that I have never seen before. Great stuff. Very well made...nice work
Cool lil socket holder... Wish i could find one
great kit, I already have a pouch like that, Im going to do something similar. Also the socket set can be found at home depot now made by makita, exact same design and they even throw in a 1/4" socket bit.
Another great kit...small vise grips..priceless...
They're about $20 yes?
My one gripe about Maxpedition pouches is that the external netting is so tightly sewn to the main body of the pouch that one can only fit thin items behind the netting. There should be more play.
Very cool kit
_Either Or, depends on your particular situation personally, I like both. Thanks for the video Brother._
I agree, I use different tool kits for different applications.
i concur wholeheartedly!
And here I was thinking that my kit was good to go, ....back to the drawing board lol thanks for sharing my friend 🇺🇸🤙🏻🅰️
I have carried a mine tool kit for 35 years. It fits in my pocket and has saved my bacon many times. It is called a Victorinox Swiss Champ.
Thanks! I've finally found someone who has the same mini file/screwdriver sets and know where I can find them. I got mine from Radioshack and have always wondered who made them. Now I know I can get spares. 👍
Great setup.
I would love a setup like this.
Another good video. Thanks. Have enjoyed and learned much from two of your books. Bruce
Great little kit, especialy the Doc Allen tool. Can't find it online in the UK unfortunatly
Great little kit! Small tool kits are super handy. That's almost the exact same setup I carry in a small 10" tool bag for service plumbing work. The bag is larger just in case I need room for parts. If the problem happens to be too big then I can grab full sized or specialty tools.
Great pack that is actually of some use, gave me some ideas
Nice kit John

Nice kit, 👍 but if I could add anything it would be a nice pair of needle nose pliers, you can never go wrong with a long and narrow set of pincers.
Beater Email needle nose vice grips
Very nicely explained

Good job! Not to carry in a pocket all day long but to take with you when you go fix smthng
very similar to mine. mine is in a maxpedition edc pouch, so i have a bit more room.
well done sir!

Would be great for mountain bikers or any tradesman, simple yet all functional
Makita sells a socket set like that in the same type of holder. I think they are black impact rated.
improvise. adapt. overcome. well now, you're going to have to put that for sale in the SR store. and to that negative nelly, he probably uses a Leatherman for his main tool edc. thanks for sharing, Teufel Hunden. Semper Fi.
What's wrong about Leatherman? I have an Wave, as part of my EDC, and it is quite useful.
Mikita makes a socket set a lot like what he has. I just got one at Home Depot
Very good kit, I have a very similar one, with a leatherman crunch instead of the vice grip plus wire cutter. And I have a hex bit driver in combination with the ratchet with bits.

Nice set.
Very close to mine.
this is 1 multi tool away from perfection
great pocket size tool kit

Good job,I like the way you think
You Sir, are a genius!
Good ideas for survival ….. very appreciate.

Knipex 86 03 125 could cut the weight in half. Great video
both kits are very nice.....
Good stuff! It would be nice active links for the products
Best damn kit I've ever seen by far.
Another great kit, just enough to get yourself home in a pinch if you had to.
Nice kit. I was looking for ideas. You could fit an allen wrench set in there.
I show that there is a small set of allen wrenches in there towards the end
Great video I made my own version recently a little bit more streamlined but I like the lack of bulk so it rides well in my front left pocket and I add things if I think I’ll need them that particular day. Your definitely seems to check all the boxes
