Fantastic idea theses should have been available twenty /thirty years ago I bet you don’t get horrible brown stains on them when the water pipes leek Like those Dam things we have at the moment. I must say I do like theses new tiles have come across them yet but no doubt I will at some point. But who am I to argue i’am just a humble spark who’s opinion means nothing. Fantastic video as always Joe 👍👍👍❤️
So, how much do they cost? All I can find is "call for pricing as it depends on volumes etc". For how few most installers will likely need, it would be great to have a ballpark of how much they are, and whether or not they're actually available from any wholesalers in small quantities. A nice idea, but for most I imagine the takeaway may be "buy some corex to keep on the van" rather than bits of plywood, although plywood is useful in vastly more situations.
This is the thing with products like this sometimes. If your installing this sort of thing often enough, you've agreed beforehand to have the main contractor supply patresses. If your doing a couple yourself, a standard 1200x2400 sheet 6mm ply gets you 8 patresses for £20 of material that is also useful for other jobs, only takes 10mins to cut up with circ saw or jigsaw and a straight edge. By that reckoning If they're anymore than £3 a board, theres no point
Great idea, but why would anybody need to cut a piece of board as big as the tile? I never have. As long as the light fitting can be fixed to something rigid… the piece of board could be 150mm x 150mm…
I find it's more like, can I have a bit of wood for a noggin oh and a hand saw, oh actually can I have another bit. Over the years I could have built a small house with the timber sparkies take.
Steel??? Well if your not fast your last grab the ply sheets while u can I'd consider it a trade off for helping the joiner humff a full pallet of gyp roc sheets up 3 floors it's amazing how many times you end up getting dragged in to move gyp roc sheets 😄👍
Six comments you read all of them but you can only respond or reply to three why ?but who am I to argue i’am just a humble spark who’s opinion means nothing.

They're pretty nifty! 👍
Trade list price £3.71 each and they are available and, in a lot of cases, stocked through all major UK Electrical Wholesalers
Excellent product
Great idea from MT, thanks for sharing Joe
When the wholesalers start stocking them , they should be very popular.
These are now available for all UK Wholesalers to stock.
it looks exactly like the sheets that plumbers use for bathrooms.

No doubt they'll become more readily available in time. 😊

Would that be compliant with the requirement for a 5kg load capacity?
It's a pain .....but .... yeah... .
Search sites for ply or a skip lol 🙄
Useful 👍

Is it made from recycled plastic?

Trade list price £3.71 each
@@MarshallTufflex Cheep at half the price.
My wife wishes I stole some wood.

Probably doesn't need to be the size of a full tile, just from edge to edge. Slice it and get at least three. 😁

Americanism have even entered the Electrical world "Super Lightweight " instead good old "Very Lightweight ".
A super good point!
@@efixx perhaps we should return SWG to follow the Yanks with their AWG.
