I totally agree with you about products just aren’t made the same as they use too. I just got rid of my parents old Montgomery Wards washing machine from 1987 and got a Samsung but I’m keeping my dryer, they’re both white and as long as it dries my clothes I’m holding on to the wheels fall off 😂 thanks for the video
@@MrGizmo211 they want you to buy again and again to Max their profit. I associate with a big name HVAC manufacture and I realized what’s the difference from different brands and why they vary on pricing. Even the thickness of a water pan can make things different, 1 mm matters.
Ivar, you forgot to mention how much you people pay in taxes. You're paying for that 5 year warranty living in Norway, believe me. Your government is a socialist rape job and ours is right behind you since Trump was cheated.
The only issues I have had with my 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set is: had to replace the hose that goes from the pump to the lint filter, and put new light bulbs in the control panel and that’s about it for the washer. Now all the dryer needed was a new drum light and blower/fan belt and a lint clean out and that’s it. Can’t complain about doing doing those minor repairs to a washer and dryer set that’s 57 years old.
Had my basic turn the knob and push start GE dryer for 15 years. I had a Samsung for 2 years and already has problems. Needs a new control board because it won't turn off. Warranty was 12 months. Plus all the new "energy efficient" models take twice as long to wash or dry. Going back to the basics
I came across your video while searching on how to fix a 5yr old Samsuck, I inherited from my folks when they passed. I left my 19+yr old dryer that ran great, when I sold my place & wish I hadn't. I bought a phone & laptop that I returned because they wouldn't work & thought it was just me who had issues, since everyone is always going on about them. After seeing all the post about their products not working. I don't feel so bad. Thanks for the video:)
I have had my samsung washer and dryer for 6 years now. We have one of the older models. We had to replace the heating element twice ($20) and the front panel on the washer ($70). I love my washer and dryer! However, I would not scrap the whole set, I would just get another dryer.
I don't know. My Samsung dryer was purchased in 2010. Since that time, I've had to replace the heating element due to my negligence (skipped a vent cleaning). Its just now started to make a rumbling noise, so I figured a roller or two had worn out. Bought kit off Amazon (rollers, belt, tensioner) and took the dryer apart only to find the rollers and tensioner were in excellent shape. I installed the new ones anyway, reassembled, and started...same damn noise. Closer inspection showed cracks in the drum along the roller path. Thought about trying some JB Weld, but luckily was able to find a replacement drum on line that was in stock. I was surprised to see how thin the drum metal actually is. OTOH, my mother's Maytag dryer ran for 20 years without a single issue. Our Samsung washer crapped out at the five year mark (ours is blue, which is no longer made). Lesson: always by white appliances.
Just bought new Samsung washer and dryer. Bought the 5 year warranty and if I don't use it that full value goes towards a store credit. Seeing as how my old washer flooded my house from the top down, I will be flipping washer and dryer every 5 years going forward. New stuff is nice but built cheap.
Who did you get your extended warranty through? That's the first time I've heard those warranty terms offered and I think that's a pretty decent added value!
I use a 25 year old whirlpool commercial dryer that I bought new in 1998 for $550. I had to replace the rubber band that spins the drum about 5 years ago ($10). And last year had to replace a door switch ($4 on EBay). To this day I love the dryer. I looked up samsung dryer issues because I have picked up several of these nice looking Samsung dryers lately out for trash and was considering trying to repair. Now I know that these units are garbage. Anyways.. appreciate the video- it was helpful!
We are on our second set of Samsung washer dryer. the first washer failed, the flywheel on the washer disintegrated, but not before we replaced the drum seal and the pump. The dryer failed shortly after when we tried to dry an old bath floor-mat and the old rubber backing broke down and stuck yo everything internally (our bad) Of course the color we chose on the first set was discontinued, so now we have two different color blues, a lighter shade for the pedestal and the the washer dryer set. another reason why we decided to stay with Samsung, we already had the pedestals. the original pair lasted a little over ten years. the new set is 17 months old, we also stopped using liquid soap and fabric softener in the new washer. so far so good and no odor or stains on the tub seal. However we noticed the dryer was still running long after it should have stopped. after spending hours on you tube I realized a lot of folks have the same problem, I don't know exactly what I did that actually worked but I tried everything i read or watched and its working again, how long???????? I am really disappointed in Samsung and their lack of care or help, but I will say we have two large TV's from Samsung and we love them! Good luck everybody :)
The rollers that the drum sits and turns on probably went out especially the one over the exhaust vent that gets exposed to a lot of heat. That in turn caused the drum to wear on that metal piece harder. I have a similar Samsung drier that is 6 years old. The first 4 years were great but the last couple years I’ve had to replace the belt tensioner, the drum rollers, abs now something is up with the heating part of it.
I have multiple Samsung products that failed prematurely: TV, refrigerator, microwave, washer, and phones. Samsung is NOT getting another dime from me from now on.
I'm a mechanical engineer. I would design a washer with electronics that have built in surge protection, a traditional universal motor with triac speed controller, and planar transformers if I were to design one. A simple triple digit LED display, digital rotary knobs with LEDs, manual load size adjustment, user stored presets that make it easy to use, and robust 5 volt semiconductors that can take a beating and the circuit boards are encased in plastic to prevent moisture damage. The dyer will have rope insulation instead of cheap felt, and held together with a proper brackets and screws instead of cheap pop can aluminum. The washer outer tub will be drawn stainless steel instead of plastic
My Samsung washer and dryer is brand new so haven't went down that road at all. I bought the steam set top load. I buy nothing but Samsung cell phones and work I for T-Mobile. My phones only tend to get 6-12 months old but have had devices in the past that lasted the industry average of 2 years. Just sold a 3D Samsung 240hz 55" TV that was 11 years old that worked perfect still! Replaced it with a Samsung. It sounds like you have had some crappy luck, or they are meeting the same standard as they all are now days unfortunately.
I got a newer version of Samsung and let me tell you something, belt and idler pully both needed to be replaced in less than 2 years of hardly used. I went to Amazon and replaced both on my own. If this thing breaks again I am totally done with Samsung products for good.
Same problem with our set: Washer works great - Dryer just died (less than 5 years). In our case Drum cracked (a common thing for Samsung machines) & repairs would run to about $600.00 but as you stated - God knows what else is wrong with it & when it will break down again. I was thinking about scrapping the whole entire set & start over. But after some consideration decided to change just a Dryer (going with Maytag) for now. Will use Washer as long as I possibly can. Matching pair - is sure nice to have, but I think its just an esthetics more than anything else, I would definitely would not call not matching set "useless" . personally - I started to give up on Samsung brand altogether: LED TV - died after 4 years (dead pixels started to appear), Samsung Sport Watch died after 1 year (Back button stopped working - so the watch became useless piece of metal), Wireless ear buds Icon-X 2018 (not holding the charge) now Dryer. In my humble opinion - Samsung should stick to making Phones & possibly TV Screens
Unfortunately your original complaint was a grinding noise. It sounds like the dryer was constantly being overloaded. When you hear that, it’s the rollers that are usually the first to go. When that happens the drum begins to come in contact with the bulkhead. Now you have metal to metal rubbing and you keep using the dryer which in turn gives you the paper-thin metal you are showing. I’ve done repairs on Samsungs 10+ years old and have run into this issue a couple times and it was always the customer continuing to use the dryer with the noise or prolonging the repair. Open up the bottom, pull out the drum and see what actually caused it. Curious as to what dryer you currently have.
My thoughts exactly. Are we that petty these days that our dryer has to be from the same set as our washer? Lol Function. The washer works…. Right now. Just change the dryer. If the brand sucks he will be replacing the washer anyway and can get his matching set again. lol
I am an appliance technician. My advice: stay away from Samsung appliances. Looks great, but poorly designed. Whirpool, Maytag, Speed Queen / Hubash machines are much better.
thank you for your advice! It's great to hear from a professional. I was about to buy Samsung washer/dryer, now I'll spend a little more money for a Whirlpool instead.
The glue that comes with the replacement felt seal is not normal glue. It's the same glue that's is used during manufacturing process. So you can buy a new drum that they glue on or you can do it yourselves and save a bundle
I bought a Samsung dryer and washer 3 yrs ago And they still working/running like new. My brother bought a whirlpool washer last yr and he’s been having a lot of issues with it..
@@bobmckay1019 Unbelievable Samsung decided to use sleeve bearings instead of sealed bearings for the idler pulley and drum rollers that would have cost ~$1 in large quantities. Guess what, dryer venting isn't 100% air tight, and moving parts like pulleys and rollers attract dust like a magnet and jams them.
Samsung washer and dryer owner here. It’s been about six years now and we haven’t had a problem with the washer yet. However we replaced the motor and idler pulley on the dryer. So I agree kind of wish we went with Whirlpool.
Thanks for the video. Our drum just cracked and has a hole in it. We debated buying the drum or just buy a new dryer. Although it sucks, but after watching your video, a new dryer it is. Yes the drum runs just over $300, which is cheaper than a new dryer, but now we really don't know if the drum is all we will need to purchase. Ugg, we love Samsung, but now we are re-thinking what brand to purchase. Thank you.
I have a full Samsung Appliance suite. So far, I’ve had no issues with my washer, dryer, fridge or oven. I’ve used my dryer and washer weekly since 2018.
Glad I saw this as someone local is selling one for 80 bucks. I have old maytag that keeps going but needs new motor or I just have to grease bearings.
Matching sets are not all they are cracked up to be. I've always had mismatched sets and they work just fine. I have a Miele washer and both a Frigidaire AND a GE dryer both in gas. The ONLY problem I've had with the GE dryer is the drum guides wearing out. Check them regularly and swap them before they go completely and the dryer will last and last. The Frigidaire dryer has been fine for about six years now. It had a faulty limit switch when I bought it for $20. I replaced the limit switch and it's been great.
I'm having the same issue, I've replaced the high temp thermostat 4x and now keep getting a clg error evn though it looks like a brand new one and it isn't hooked to the vent
I may be couple years late but worth mentioning im looking to move out on my own soon hopefully and looking at Samsung washers and dryers amd this actually helps Maybe they fixed this issue by now BUT the fact this was still an issue at all helps nonetheless
Your dryer was making noise for over a year. It took until you started seeing parts of the felt being sheered off to fix the Dryer. You had a support that froze likely the one next to the heater, and it likely froze while it was still under warranty. Had you gotten it repaired while it was still under warranty, it would still be working today. Basically you ignored a problem until it got so bad that the unit broke beyond repair.
Yes we’ve had issue with ours too Samsung 2015 we are having the same issue. Now we don’t wanna go back to these nice fancy dryers. Thank you for the video and info
I love my Samsung TVs for more than 10 years. I HATE my Samsung dryer, same model as this video. Less than three years and one of the belt rollers melted. I had to take it apart too. What a pain. We have to run a dry cycle twice in order to get clothes dry. That’s more than 3 hours. This dryer sucks!
Amen! The Whirlpool washer we got when we were married 28 years ago is still working (no repairs) but our Samsung is less than five years old and it's kaput. Calling the repairman tomorrow but if it's more than a broken belt I'm going to be ticked. It seems pretty environmentally irresponsible for a company to make something that large that has to go into a landfill that fast.
Also, going to add, our Whirlpool washer from the Nineties is a top loader that uses more water than today's front loaders and that's the way I like it.
What brand is the best for washer and dryer? Seems like Samsung has the highest views on all the websites but I trust what you’re saying.. just want pointed in right direction
This is exactly why you buy the extended warranty. I had a washer from hell, and after 7 attempts to fix it, the warranty company gave me a full refund plus sales tax.🤠
The extended warranty should not have to be purchased. That was just another way to make money. Too many folks lose warranty into. Things used to not sell if they didn’t last.
Australian Consumer Law protects consumers so you don’t have to pay extended warranty. There is a reasonable lifetime care of a product and a washing machine should be 5+ years, I got a full refund of $2000 after raising my issues with Bosch.
The extended warranties often are there for just show. I got an extended warranty on my couch, 3 months in my kid ripped the leather. I called them up, they said I don't qualify since my kid did it. What damage will you have done to a couch that won't have happened from using it? Don't get extended warranties, they are a scam to make up for products that were manufactured (planned) to only last a few years.
I bought an extended warranty. I had to bring the machine in myself to an independent dealer to have it repaired. Upon that, they charge me a $100 deductable. Then I had to go get the machine myself, haul it upstairs myself, and re-install it myself. If you pay someone to do that, it's $350. Extended warranties are getting worse and worse, as they cover nothing.
JMO, this particular dryer could have been dropped/damaged during shipment. But I suspect these drum problems were/are caused by poorly made support rollers. They are made of plastic and rubber. What happens to plastic as it heats up? I took the top off of the same model a cpl of days ago due to some squeaking noise. I inspected the rollers and they were not disintegrating or showing any damage of any type. I put it back together and ran it for 10 minutes. It began squeaking after about three minutes. I narrowed the squeaking down to the roller just above the main drive motor. Will replace all four support rollers while I have it apart. The dryer has no other known problems right now. I noted the rollers cost about $30 on Ebay. Also, if one of the support rollers is going bad the drum will not rotate evenly. That will lead to uneven wearing on the insulation around the drum. It may start out as a squeaking noise due to a bad bearing. It could then turn into a 'thumping' noise that sounds like there is something besides clothing in the drum. If that is the case, shut it off immediately and DO NOT USE IT until the support wheels, and/or other repairs, are completed. The dryer in this video should be dis-assembled and sold for parts, imo. I am certain the good working parts, (door, electronics, wiring, plugs, sheet metal, etc.), will eventually be needed by someone.
We had two Samsung dryer , one when bad , electrical issues , no warranty, second got it to match the Samsung washer , one year and three months died, no heat , bad relay , bad board , too expensive to fix. So enough with Samsung , no more of their appliances, this time can’t care less to match the still working Samsung washer, we got a nice Maytag dryer and when the washer stops working (cause i suspect it will) we will get the matching Maytag washer.
I have that dryer and I’m moving. According to this I should give it to the new owner. I’ve had Frigidaire and GE appliances. All had problems but usually many years out. The Performa brand washer and dryer lasted until they just plain wore out. Subsidiary of Maytag not available any more
I just bought a Samsung dryer today from Lowes. Similar but not the exact same model. I got the extended 5 year warranty with it so I'll try to come back and update how it going in 2 years.
I found the solution to my My Samsung dryer DV330!!! It was simpler than I thought :-) kept blowing the high limit thermostat. I replaced the high limit thermostat (manually reset it as many times as I could first), thermo cut-off fuse, heating element, cycling thermostat, AND the thermistor. They all had continuity but I replaced them anyway, and the thermister was reading the correct ohms when I did resistance test at room temp. I also cleaned the heck out of the dryer hose, filter, and blower wheel pipe to make sure air flow was good. I even ran it with no dryer hose but was still over heating. I checked the relay switch on the main control board and confirmed it was operating correctly. I was racking my brain trying to figure out why it kept over heating and tripping the high limit thermostat. Eventually I bypassed the thermostat with the higher temperature thermo fuse and ran the dryer at 10 minute intervals, but then I figured out the root of the problem! It was the blower seal and the seal on the dryer filter cover. The foam gasket had become so depressed, that gaps in the seal allowed the blower to suck in cooler air from out side the dryer drum. This meant that the air running past the cycling thermostat and the thermister was cooler than it actually was within the drum. SOLUTION: I thickened the seal of the blower wheel and dryer filter cover with electrical tape and covered the gaps with electrical tape, this ensured the blower wheel was sucking in 100% of the hot air thru the dryer filter, and none of the cooler air outside of the dryer drum. After doing this, to my surprise the heating element was cycling on and off in like 2 minute intervals like it should, no more over heating and tripping the high-limit thermostat!! Before I corrected the seal, the heating element would never turn off, it would stay on for like 8 minutes and then blow the thermostate. Not anymore!!
The idler pulley and drum rollers went bad in our 3 yr old Samsung and it stopped working. The good news is it was very easy to take apart and fix ! VERY EASY ! Ordered a kit off of Amazon, fixed in 20 mins.
I unfortunately bought a Samsung set, only my washer was the terror. I called Samsung and demanded a refund. They gave me one and I used it to by a Whirlpool. Oddly enough our dryer still works 5yrs later but the features don't such as the dry sensor. So we have to basically run a load 2 times for 40 mins on high. Ours are both white so they kind of match.Samsung should definitely stick to making cellphones.
Okay, I was agreeing with everything until you talked about a matching set. Do you plan on having parties in your laundry room? Serving dignitaries there?
I have the same washer and dryer set. Right after my warranty (3 years ) is over, my dryer start some making squeaking noise. It works still but I have to fix the noise(awful). I hope that my dryer is not bad as yours. No more Samsung!
The squealing sound is the idler very easy fix.. Dryers require regular cleaning too many people on here bitch but dont service them. Dryers are the #1 cause of house fires..
I have glued those felt to the drums over the yrs. The appliances now days are throw away appliances. Whirlpool even did away with the direct drive washers. There's only about 4-6 companies that make appliances.
Yikes! Having a Samsung dryer delivered today and not feeling great about it now. First washer and dryer were Kenmore purchased from Sears greater than 20 years ago. Replaced the washer within the last year and now the dryer. Gonna miss my Kenmore Appliances.
I have this exact set and I'm so disappointed and pissed off!! we had ours for less than a year and our drum did basically the same thing on our dryer, except for the inside the drum itself was breaking apart into pieces and made a huge hole. we contacted Samsung they will not do anything with it they said we could just buy a new drama, but like you said it's just a waste of money. nothing wrong with our washer except for it does stink periodically and we do what we can to keep that clean, but I will never buy Samsung appliances ever again or anything that has to do with Samsung.I am going to go back to the older washer and dryers we had our for over 15 years and never had a problem with it and we love the old ones better. the only reason why we chose this set is because we are a family of 8 and it worked great for the capacity of how many clothes we could put in there, but it's not worth the trouble and money. And for spending over $2,000 for less than a year.... outrageous!! Best of luck!!
Samsung washer and dryer 3 years old. My washer has rust now by the bleach dispenser. My dryer squeals (thinking pulley, not sure until my daughter takes it apart and gives it a look). I know by now you have resolved your problem. Hoping you resolved it by replacing with a different brand :)
We bought a matching Samsung washer/dryer set. A couple years later we got a recall/warning that the lid on the washer could fly off if a high spin level was used, causing bodily harm or death. But no, they were not exchanging for a new model that would not do that. They were offering a $200 credit to buy a new one! Secondly, our clothes started having little tiny pieces of greasy black flakes all over them. I had been running vinegar and/or washer cleaner regularly, to no avail. Now our dryer is making loud squeaking noises and smelling hot. Two repair guys came and immediately said it would cost over $380 to fix it. They also charged us $85 just to come check (which they didn't really do. They just said, if it is squeaking it needs a dryer repair kit.) They could have told us that over the phone. To be clear, there are just two of us in our household, so we don't have big loads of laundry. I will never buy Samsung again. I originally had a Samsung phone which was also a big problem. And yes, apparently we have to buy into extended warranties to protect ourselves from "planned obsolescence".
My Samsung dryer has been a pain in my arse since day 1. I have replaced hi limit 3 times and now the idler pulley. Sad part is the washer is more of a headache. The springs are horrible and it’s been recalled but the website is dead. Never again!
Whenever you replace the high limit, you should also replace the operating thermostat, it is the operating thermostat that is failing and causing the high limit to go bad. This is a free tip for you. You should always replace both of them.
This particular model of dryer that has a 9.2 drum size has that issue. It’s cheaply made. Older Samsung models are better. Most of all stainless steel drums are cracking due to bad welding. I repair at least 15 Samsung dryers a month . But Samsung won’t do anything to refund you. . Lost cause.
I have a Maytag epic z dryer.that thing is a beast and so easy to work on plus all of the parts are super cheap.i put a new element, belt, rollers, and idler in for less then $40.. basically a brand new dryer now..
@@jamesw1659 huh? I picked it up 2nd hand like 7 years ago.the power button was bad on it.then I had the main 12v trace on the motherboard burnout, but i fixed that with a bunch of solder. Past that it's just been a $10 heating element every year, which i view as a good issue to have cause your dryer should be cleaned out every year so that you don't have a fire, and I do that when ever that element goes out on me. So after 7 years I did a overhaul with the belt, rollers, idler ect. I picked my daughter up a newer samsung and that thing is a pita to work on in comparison to this epicz,so noway I'll be upgrading..
@@solidsnake6405 My point was intended to be a little humorous in that your original post listed a bunch of stuff you had to do to it, in the same sentence where you're suggesting how great it is. My idea of a great appliance is more like my Kenmore set (Whirlpools under the skin) that I bought new about 20 years ago and I haven't had to do ANYTHING to...correction: I did have to change the light bulb in the dryer once, but that's it.
@@jamesw1659 yeah well,Crack that thing open and you will find a fire just waiting to happen. No gizmo can get the lint that escapes out of the duct work into the main body of the dryer. I've pulled lint about 6" thick out of dryers in the past from people that don't understand they need to be broke down and cleaned regularly just like any tool.. The cheap ebay elements give me an excuse every year to clean it as they go out every 11-14months.besides the oem maytag elements are about 4 times more expensive but last only twice to 3 times as long on average. It's literally a 15min job once a year, and gives me an opportunity to check out other components in the process.. I also find it extremely unlikely that you are on the same element for 20 years.the kind of thickness of metal it would take for that to happen would also use a CRAP ton of electricity..my epicz is from 2003-2005 if I'm not mistaken and it doesn't use anything that would last that long.
Good morning, I watched your yearly updates your Samsung yearly video, I thought Samsung washer and dryer being delivered Saturday and now I am afraid after what I saw on your video. Thank you for sharing have a good day
Just replaced my Samsung washer 2 years ago. Shock absorbers or stabilizers broke on old one. It was cheaper to buy new one than repair the old one. Dryer was acting up last month. It kept making thumping sound. I thought it was the rollers but when I took it apart, the drum was split . I am going to buy Whirlpool next go around.
Never again will I buy a Samsung appliance! Washer leak issues 3x in 5 years, eventually replaced with a Speed Queen set. The Samsung dryer elements repeatedly failed...but the most annoying thing about this dryer is the lint trap is completely ineffective, clogs underneath the lint trap and needs frequently vaccuumed with an extension to get it
Scrap the entire set and buy a Whirlpool Washer and Dryer, both pieces are made in the USA! Both Samsung (South Korean Electronics) outsourced pieces you have are made in China; ours is starting to do the same thing but in a slower pace!
I have a samsung washer and dryer. The washer is fine going on 5-6 years. The dryer's I've had to change a worn out pulley arm and now its overheating and a fire risk.
Well I’m watching this video because we’re just replacing our 25-year-old Maytag Neptune dryer today. You are right.. They don’t make them like they used to. That dryer was moved around the country to seven different homes and all that moving did not loosen the screws. It actually could be repaired one more time but we’re just afraid with the shortages and inflation going on right now if it broke again in four months there might not be anything available to replace it with.
I'm in the exact same position pal. I can't get my dryer to turn off unless I leave the door open and there's no heat. I have seen videos on how to fix but I'm uncomfortable to try. 1 time before the drum did stop turning as well. Mine is less than three years as well. The only difference is I don't have the matching set so I don't have to worry about that but my washing machine needs to be replaced now too so I will be looking at a matching set. I assure you it will not be a Samsung.
I actually called Samsung and would not accept no for an answer had them pass my phone call to managers, supervisors until they told me that they would cover the drum but I’d cover the repair which was $90. My warranty had just expired and I didn’t have an extension on it. So the repair man replaced the drum and had it working in about an hour. It was less expensive than buying a new one or pay for everything myself.
I have a Samsung dryer. It’s a piece of garbage. It shuts off before the clothes are dry. It to smart for its own good. I will never buy another Samsung product.
I just purchased one and delivered today. Did purchase a warranty. I hate buying warranties 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾. I had a Matag washer too noisy the low sud. Got this one for stacking and large drum size.
I have the same set. Opened up the dryer to replace the belt tensioner because the machine was screaming. While doing this I noticed the fraying fabric that you mention in this video. Rather than buy a new dryer I chose to apply some high heat tape along the edge in an effort to slow the decay. Its the last intervention before I buy a whirlpool on sale for $300. This is a defect Samsung should refund.
You are not the only one with this type of dryers problem, many get /have different problem with this fancy ( new world) dryers, the older basic one used to work for a long time. Lee can you tell me did you hook this dryer up to 20 amp or 30 amp fuse or breaker in you panel( i live in North America too) .
I need that dryer! 😄 Those washers have the dreaded internal failure too! The main spindle thingy that's mounted onto back of the drum disintegrate from detergents & bleach apparently that's what's wrong with mine & it's a HUGE job, HUGE expense and that's if you do it yourself. Having it fixed by an appliance repairman - FORGET ABOUT IT! Not worth it and you might as well scrap it & move on. Anyways I'm surprised you stuck with Samsung after that. Hope your new ones treat ya better👍🏼
Planned obsolescence ( expression created by journalists that is not adequate bc it is not obsolete, only broken ). My dryer is a whirlpool and my washing machine is a Beko. Both about 10 years old and still working, but that doesn't mean anything. You'll make the good choice ; I would only buy a new dryer.
I have the same set just took partially apart to replace the tensioner Lully and found a roller gear laying in the back by wall with its nut and washers. Then discovered left front roller is shot also. Less than 3 years old also.
I guess they are made like GM cars? If a GM car is made on a Monday morning you would find coke bottles stuffed in the door paneling and you can't figure out what the banging noises are when driving down the road!
The only cutting edge thing I’ll buy is a phone or cheap smart home stuff. I don’t want a complicated lemon. I do prefer new appliances, but I keep them simple, without fancy features.
I agree 100%. my Samsuck dryer lasted just about 2 years. have replaced many of the components more than once and now it eats thermal fuses like Oreos. NEVER NEVER buy a Samsuck product again is my mantra!
A previous poster hit the nail on the head!! Samsung products look nice and pretty. Trying to repair them (if you can find the right parts) shows poor design. I will never again buy anything Samsung makes.
Back off. Mr. Gizmo is hitting the mark closer then the rest of you experts. 1) The better looking the wife, the better looking the dryer and washer. Something Mr. Gizmo and I understand. It must be a matched pair because Mrs. Gismzo is likely a babe. 2) No, you do not need to laser balance your dryer or washer. The problem with the newer systems is that they are not as robust as the older ones and cannot handle the over loading. My guess is that Mrs. Gizmo does not like to do laundry and fills up the washer and dryer with as much as they can hold. The off center force is torquing your tin can and fatiguing the metal, and tearing up your felt. Sure, you can fix it, but it will just fail again. If you are going to buy low to mid, you cannot over load, try about half of what you are doing now. 3) I looked up this video because I just bought a new one and it did not even start. It had to go back.
Just had same model diagnosed with main electronic control panel is out. $700 repair, so going to replace with basic non-electronic controls. Mine was purchased 2017…
I was on the fence fixing my 10 year old Maytag or buying new. Someone just hit me with an ad of someone selling their 3 year old Samsungs. I DON"T THINK SOOO! I'll just buy the humidity sensor/Timer and in the mean time use timed dry. The way I wash, I don't want a front loader anyway. I find stuff to throw in while it's running, and I need something washed in 15 minutes, not 60, and dried in 20 min like I have now. I don't need glass to watch things go round and round. They may save water and heat, but there are no resource savings when you add the difference in price, maintenance, or lifespan, so for the inconvenience, cost, and trouble, you spend a quarter to save a nickle, and far more resources are used because many times that are lost to the repair cycles, and making new machines 4 times as often. Nearly all of the US made appliances are located around my side of the state, such as Maytag, Amana, Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, GE, etc., and I can still get parts for 20-year-old units today, so I'll fix this one and run it for another 10 years and buy another one of these US brands.
Just replace4d my 12-year-old He3 dryer after replacing the heating element 6 times. Got a new Samsung dryer that sounds like it's full of tennis shoes the first time I started it. Maybe I should have kept replacing the He3 elements.
Bought our Samsung VRT steam set I think 5 or 6 years ago used for $600 Canadian. So like 4 or 5 bucks US. I believe they were 2 years old. After 2 or 3 years the dryer started making noise. Fortunately it was a 20 or $25 part from amazon. So I repaired it myself. Now a few years later my dryer is not wanting to start on most pushes of the start button. Will this be then end? I'm not sure as I'm looking into it and its the reason I came across your video. If it is the end I have a replacement set of Samsungs in my garage that I purchased used recently for $400. I just can't bring myself to purchase new appliances, at full price, which may only last a few years. One thing nice about the Samsungs, that I have found, is that there are lots of used units available on marketplace for cheap. So since I have the stacking kit for this set I'll keep using them for now. Also I should mention that in some ways I've been impressed by the Samsung units as we are a family of 8 which runs an Airbnb for up to 10 people out of part of our house for the summers and rents out our basement in the winters by the month. These units we have have done so many loads of Laundry. But from what I have heard they are crap in most peoples experiences. Thanks for the video Lee
I feel your pain. If you need a matching set scrap it and buy LG. I had the same happen to my Samsung set. It would have cost the same to repair as to replace. So I made the choice ti replace both with LG products.
I have different issues but similar attitude towards Samsung however your pricing on the dryer drum is way higher than I see online and what I paid but still that does not take away the fact of the machine is garbage because of cheap manufacturing! The cheapest I found the dryer drum was $90 but that was through a local appliance company here in Oregon. But really upsets me is when someone like a friend of mine opens up an independent refurbished and place to bring your old appliances and or call on them to come fix it get pushed out of the business because they are not name brand appliance company backed. I guess better said is Mom and Pop appliance repair /cheap used appliance places are getting pushed out of the business because big business is in for selling new ones not so much to sell you the parts or tell you exactly what is wrong with it rather they just want to nickel and dine the hell out of you for the life of it. I bought the extended warranty and a guy from Lowe's repair place where I bought it from came and replaced heating element on my dryer and when I decided to do it myself the next time it was crazy because the guy did not even clean it out or did he put all the screws that it came with back together right. Probably was a fluke I don't know but the thing is these machines are really not that all technical I am not a rocket engineer I have some mechanical backgrounds and a little bit of electronics however once you get the gist of them it's really not too hard to understand how they operate the big thing is is how cheap they're put together and why it costs so much to replace a part is beyond me. So my question is is so you bought a new set I'm going to probably be doing the same thing within the year how is yours doing and what name brand did you choose?
I literally just bought this set today (should be here in a few days) an paid for the extended warranty $160. With the manufacturer 1yr an extended I'll 4yrs total. If it last longer then that I'll feel like I got my money's worth out of it.
I brought mines 4 yrs ago with the extended warranty too.and it started after 2 years making noise and it stared again yesterday I orded the parts this time because my extended warranty went out just be aware it wil probably happen every few yrs.
I buy dryers at an appliance store that sells older ones that have been fixed. My husband is severely disabled so we did a lot of laundry. I buy white appliances, easier to match them.
Never Samsung, My fridge lasted 3 years, dryer 4 years, stove 4 years. waiting for my washer out. They are all out over warrentee and no service at all. Stay out of Samsung.
My lasted almost 4 years, The heating element went out and the rollers were shot.(Made a lot of noise during its last 6 months) It's only my wife and I, with a normal family two years would be average. My last US made dryer lasted 23 years and still worked when I replaced it. The dryer I have now is a US made Whirlpool and the cheapest I could find! I don't have a matching set anymore but who cares! I don't normally give tours of my laundry room! :-)
I've got a Samsung washer that, I think, the drain pump just went out on it. It was 10+ years old. I just purchased a new Samsung set. My friend has a Samsung set and I am taking the dryer apart for squealing noises. I think it is the rollers. I replaced the pulley and belt a couple of months ago. It could be my handy work. I'll find out in a little bit! I'm hoping that it's the rollers that, at the time, looked OK to me.
My Samsung front load Washer made it about the same amount of time (2 or 3 years) and started to leak all over my beautiful laundry room. Did not get a repair on it because there was no warranty and after some internet research it sounded like the tub and/or tub bearing had failed, meaning it was going to cost way more to repair than just replace. So I did!
I have a whirlpool from 1992 and all it needs a bearing and it's good. Just bought this Samsung Pair.....😬

My wife wants this washer and dryer. I have a kitchen aid pair from the 70's and they still work great.
Wtf kitchen aid made dryers?
Don’t do it!
Whirlpool makes good washers and dryers. We had our first set for 15 years and if you know is good for today. We got a new one after he dryer died.
Keep the old. They work soooo much better than this crap they make now. I would love my old washer and dryer back
If your old appliance are still satisfying, do not replace them. You are going to be really sad if you do that.
I have had my samsung washer and dryer for 6 years now. We have one of the older models. We had to replace the heating element twice ($20) and the front panel on the washer ($70). I love my washer and dryer! However, I would not scrap the whole set, I would just get another dryer.
"This washer is pretty much worthless without the matching dryer!" wut....??? #firstWorldProblems
I died when he said that. XD
Same thing was thinking
I think he’s coming from the standpoint he’s married and it’s more of a headache to hear the griping of the fact the washer and dryer doesn’t match.

Thanks for this video. I was very close to buying a Samsung dryer until I saw this video. Decided to go with Bosch instead. Thanks!
I'm in the market for a new dryer but I really don't care if it matches my washer or not just so it works.
I am really disappointed in Samsung and their lack of care or help, but I will say we have two large TV's from
Samsung and we love them! Good luck everybody :)
People washing those rubber backed mats cause more washer issues than anything. Also the washable face masks use a laundry bag people
LOL YEA...I TOTALLY AGREE..THAT SUCKS! THANKS FOR YOUR REVIEW AND YOUR TIME.
What is a necessity to have a matching appliances? Just buy a new dryer and you are all set
Stan Kustov to afraid they will be judged
Exactly. It's in the laundry room not the living room. Who cares.

Replaced it with a Samsung. i completely agree with you! i am dreading taking this dryer apart again, last time it was the rollers this time its the heating element
I got a newer version of Samsung and let me tell you something, belt and idler pully both needed to be replaced in less than 2 years of hardly used. I went to Amazon and replaced both on my own. If this thing breaks again I am totally done with Samsung products for good.
Why? you got it handled buddy great job!
Same here bought samsung washer and dryer and in less than 3 yrs I had to replace the washer motor then replace dyer wheel rollers twice in 2 yrs
When it's like that, you buy a new one
I’m not a tech but that’s what I was thinking. He looks like the type that will throw 30lbs of cloths in a single load.
I would just get another dryer of the same color and nearly the same style, even if it’s of another brand and better quality. 🤩Great video.
My thoughts exactly. Are we that petty these days that our dryer has to be from the same set as our washer? Lol Function. The washer works…. Right now. Just change the dryer. If the brand sucks he will be replacing the washer anyway and can get his matching set again. lol

thank you for your advice! It's great to hear from a professional. I was about to buy Samsung washer/dryer, now I'll spend a little more money for a Whirlpool instead.
Almost impossible to work on! Operating design looks good but they use too many cheap parts. My rollers had no bearings!
Agree. Nobody cares what your washer and dryer looks like 😂. Thats 100% OCD.
Samsung never again. 3yrs old and I've replaced almost every part. The heating element failed/broke 3x's
you got that right. I do the samething
I'm having the same issue, I've replaced the high temp thermostat 4x and now keep getting a clg error evn though it looks like a brand new one and it isn't hooked to the vent
I may be couple years late but worth mentioning im looking to move out on my own soon hopefully and looking at Samsung washers and dryers amd this actually helps
Maybe they fixed this issue by now BUT the fact this was still an issue at all helps nonetheless

That sounds like the ducting. dryers dont take that long.. Clean ducting and your good

Thank you Robert!
Very cool... congrats on finding a fix for you dryer. It is so expensive to have to replace them or get more parts.
Congratulations. That's a real repair.
I am having the same problem you’re describing, but have no idea how to do the fix you came up with.

Amanda Roybal so sorry you had the same bad experience. We went back to top loaders as well!
Did you see there’s a recall on a Samsung washer or dryer this week… might want to check
But no, they were not exchanging for a new model that would
not do that. They also
charged us $85 just to come check (which they didn't really do. They just said, if it is squeaking it needs a dryer repair kit.)
They could have told us that over the phone.
But Samsung won’t do anything to refund you. . Lost cause.
I do the same, and I agree with you.
Replacing my drum wheels and tensioner pulley now.
They're all so computerized too.
$350+ mean you just buy new dryer.
he married a high maintenance wife that demands a matching set.
rotoclip yup!!!
Lol
I have a Maytag epic z dryer.that thing is a beast and so easy to work on plus all of the parts are super cheap.i put a new element, belt, rollers, and idler in for less then $40.. basically a brand new dryer now..
But, of course, you had to put in a new element, belt, rollers, and idler...
I agree with most comments here; why do you need to scrap the washer if it is working in order to have a matching set?
Probably the wife, you know how wives are.
The Samsung dryer elements repeatedly failed...but the most annoying thing about this dryer is the lint trap is completely ineffective, clogs underneath the lint trap and needs frequently vaccuumed with an extension to get it
Clean the ducting that will help
Scrap the entire set and buy a Whirlpool Washer and Dryer, both pieces are made in the USA! Both Samsung (South Korean Electronics) outsourced pieces you have are made in China; ours is starting to do the same thing but in a slower pace!
I have a samsung washer and dryer. The washer is fine going on 5-6 years. The dryer's I've had to change a worn out pulley arm and now its overheating and a fire risk.
Those look like DELIBERATE construction flaws that you point out. These things fail BY DESIGN. Engineers always know the points of failure.
You could go to places were they recycle washers and dryers and get these part really chip, itelling you this cuz I work on on of those places,
Well I’m watching this video because we’re just replacing our 25-year-old Maytag Neptune dryer today. You are right.. They don’t make them like they used to. That dryer was moved around the country to seven different homes and all that moving did not loosen the screws. It actually could be repaired one more time but we’re just afraid with the shortages and inflation going on right now if it broke again in four months there might not be anything available to replace it with.
Looking to save money? Don’t match the set! New dryer meet old but good washer! Done!
Put it on time dry. mine works perfectly
Dis-
You are not the only one with this type of dryers problem, many get /have different problem with this fancy ( new world) dryers, the older basic one used to work for a long time. Lee can you tell me did you hook this dryer up to 20 amp or 30 amp fuse or breaker in you panel( i live in North America too) .
I need that dryer! 😄
Those washers have the dreaded internal failure too!
Ripping the felt off and using high heat industrial adhesive to glue on works. Held on with clips for 24hrs to secure and it worked
I agree 100%. my Samsuck dryer lasted just about 2 years. have replaced many of the components more than once and now it eats thermal fuses like Oreos. NEVER NEVER buy a Samsuck product again is my mantra!
The Oreo compare is funny!
David Chambers thank you! You get it!
lol
The harvest gold refrigerator in my 1969 Airstream still works fine.
Had a Samsung set. Washer went bad in 2nd year, dryer in fifth. Replaced the washer with a Maytag and dryer will be something other than Samsung.
@Kenneth Woods what part's did you have to replace?
I buy dryers at an appliance store that sells older ones that have been fixed. My husband is severely disabled so we did a lot of laundry. I buy white appliances, easier to match them.
Never Samsung, My fridge lasted 3 years, dryer 4 years, stove 4 years. waiting for my washer out. They are all out over warrentee and no service at all. Stay out of Samsung.
I buy Samsung and all ok, must be the user.
TV 11years
Washing machine 7years
Dryer 6years
Laptop 11years
And all going ok.
I have the same one and inside the housing it keeps filling with lint and water. I will fix my set and buy speed queen washer and dryer asap
My lasted almost 4 years, The heating element went out and the rollers were shot.(Made a lot of noise during its last 6 months) It's only my wife and I,
with a normal family two years would be average.
So I did!
