Homeschool with me + cook with me! We're cookin' up some delicious MOOSE stew with homemade dinner rolls from fresh ground flour. Joe takes a solo trip on the frozen river to check out our remote cabin for the VERY first time! Thanks for joining us for another video!

📚OUR CURRICULUM: We use Christian Light Education for Math, Language Arts & Reading:

MOOSE STEW & DINNER ROLL RECIPE:
2lbs moose meat (or beef) cut into 2-inch chunks
Salt/pepper
2TBS all purpose flour
2TBS olive oil
1 small onion chopped
About 4 garlic cloves minced
2-3 large carrots peeled & sliced
2-3 medium potatoes
2-3 cups beef broth
1/4 tomato paste
1TBS worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
2tsp thyme (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 325F.
2. Season meat with salt/pepper. Sprinkle flour over top & mix to coat well. 3. Heat oil in dutch oven over med heat. Add the meat & brown on all sides. Don't worry about cooking it all the way through at this stage. Remove meat & set aside.
4. Add onions, garlic, and carrots to dutch oven, cook stirring occasionally for 2-3 min.
5. Add potatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, bay leaf, thyme, and worcestershire sauce. Use wooden spoon to scrape brown bits from the bottom of dutch oven.
6. Bring mixture to simmer, stirring occasionally. Return meat to pot. Cover the dutch oven & transfer to the preheated oven.
7. Cook for approx 2-2/5 hours. Remove the bay leaf before serving. Season to taste with salt/pepper!

Tina , is there cursive writing in there teaching? Let me tell you why I ask, my grandson when he started depositing his paycheck I said go ahead and write your name on back of check, and he printed it, I said, do you know cursive,? and he said that he was never taught in school so I was wondering if the bank would deposit it and they did so I was shocked how his generation didn’t know cursive. It may not mean anything to anyone and I realized that computers don’t care either they print with a code . Public schools took out art and changed the history books and now no cursive. I felt so bad that I was not on top of things, but I felt like I was living in dark ages 😂. But like I said you may not find an issue with it, it’s so hard to teach them when they are 21, my grandson just turned 21. God bless you all, I love most of all that you teach the word of God 😊

That's the nicest outhouse I've ever seen. The only one I've ever seen with pictures in it. I love that little cabin. The boys argue like real siblings. That's awesome. Y'all are so blessed.

Omg 1 Kellen is big for 1st grade and I'm so happy he has an additional family in you guys.. 2 Joe doing all that chattering had me like what the heck is going on here lol. 3 I'm so glad he made it back home before dark. While I'd also love more than one video a week, Tina already has her hands full being a wife and Mummy. You can tell by the high standard of her finished videos that each takes a lot of time to create, edit and upload. And now she has little Kellen to care for and home school. BTW, I would bet that little chap's educational level is going to rise several notches in double quick time, now he has Tina to coach and urge him on! He's adorable. But so too is Parker, the doggies and the pussycats and Joe and Tina herself!

Ms. Tina, as a retired educator with over 3 decades of teaching under my belt, I was pleasantly surprised to see how well you were explaining the lessons. Your two boys are blessed to have a wonderful mama and daddy (and "special "mama and daddy). Tina and Joe...y'all are doing amazing things. First off, even though it's known "he's someone else's kid" y'all treat him as if he's your own. The values you're teaching both of them will take them far in life. Secondly, siblings are gonna spat and I like the self-regulating. My mom taught me at a very young age to fight my own battles. I've always had that...I'm 62 and she's gone, but it's carried me through. Even if it only ends up being the year, y'all have changed lives...both boys. And Kellen...you've made such an impact already. He's seen things, done things, eaten things, experienced things he would never get here in Virginia. I'm sure his mom and grandma are missing him, but are happy for this opportunity you've given him. I love watching your videos. Keep up the great job!

I'm sure Kellen's family is beyond thankful that they get to see him via videos and see how well he is doing just randomly throughout the day/week without it being facetime conversations or phone calls etc.

In a later video Tina mentioned changing the oil- fed heater for a wood stove. In the current quick peek at the new cabin I notice the stove pipe meandering through out the cabin and being alarmingly close to the bed clothes. The oil stove gives off minimal heat and the pipe would provide some heat in the loft. A wood stove would generate a lot more heat and be a fire hazard unless you routed the pipe through the side wall next to the stove making sure
any wood it goes through is sufficiently insulated. Joe could make any changes safe with his innate talents. Stay safe !👍👍🛠🛠

Hi Watson family when Joe gets more comfortable. He will talk more and show what he has been up to. I can see he thinks so much about what needs to be done to get ready after the snow has gone. He is focused. On mission. That will never leave him. He has a nice voice to listen to. The cabin will be amazing in summer time.

So enjoyed this... when at Ft. Stewart we took in a 14 yr old and went thru legal channels but after about 8 months he decided he wanted to return to his family he thought he could lead them all to the knowledge of God. I was devastated. One never knows what God has in store. Having the home study and all the paperwork done we adopted one of the airlift babies that came out of Vietnam and there wasn't anything the state could do since the paperwork was accomplished. The Gov. had said he didn't want the children adopted in the state. Long story short he is now almost 50 and we are very close probably more than my two daughters because they live so far away. We all adore our Mike he grew to be a good soft hearted man.

I felt your concern for your husband, I couldn't believe he went out there by himself, he's a brave one for sure. What an awesome remote tiny cabin, you guys will have a blast out there I about fell out of my chair with laughter when Joe said he pooped in the outhouse, he said it like he was proud. hahaha, so funny. I loved the day in life of the pups. I love seeing that breed in a well rounded family home situation. I’ve only see videos of them being trained as military, police and hard working dogs. In the right hands and the right situation the can flourish in a home as a pet… my dream breed, but not the right time in my life to have the time needed to put into raising one. Great job guys!!!
Eventually Kellen will have his own special things that he can share it will all balance out. Special times for sure...💙😎💙😎
One thing you can do to get splinters out, especially small ones, is to put elmers glue on the area. It will dry white & as you pull it off hopefully the shard will come with it. Love seeing the boys play ouside & making their own games.

I’m truly happy for your family and what God is doing in the midst of it all. Loved this week's vlog. I love watching the home school journey. The boys are getting along well. They are good for each other, even when they squabble. The remote cabin is so cute and quaint. Joe talked and talked, lol. As usual, the outtakes are great.
