Tina, check out thermography imaging before you get a mammogram. We are the same age and I just had both done recently (and an ultrasound). Thermography is radiation free and gave me more info than the mammogram did (dense breast tissue can obscure small masses). Looks like Anchorage has a place called Advanced Thermal Imaging. Praying for good results! We homeschool too and I’ve enjoyed your videos so much. God bless!! Sarah 💜

I agree, radiating a breast as "preventative" medicine is not the way to go. There are plenty of cancer books I own that warn against mammograms.

Great upgrades! You might be able to turn the grate the other way and use it when you rinse off fruits and veggies. I have a similar one that I use for that purpose. Also, perhaps Joe can make you cutting boards that fit on top of the sink. That will give you soo much extra counter space, even if just on one side. Then, dishes in soap side until you clean them.

When I was homeschooling I figured out how many hours that the traditional school would do if you took out the 8 minutes between classes to change rooms, the lunches, and recess. And it would be only 3-4 hours of school. So don’t sweat only doing 3 hours of school. If that’s what it takes.
And I am like you, I wanted my windows covered cause no telling the yahoo could be out there looking in. Cover the windows.
Anymore the mammograms aren’t that bad suck it up girl just do it. Lol I’m 62 now and still doing them.
I’m so proud of you guys.

I am 78 and just about when I turned 40 mammograms began being required. At first every 2 years, after 50, every year. Yes, they are uncomfortable, but they don't take very long. Put on your big girl pants and get it done. It will show any issues right away.
    And that is a blessing.

Oh, and I cannot tell you how many couples have said that when they just broke down and really relaxed, maybe had a glass or two of wine, but mostly were not all stressed out, finally conceived. The stress really messes with conceiving, so I have heard.
As for a mamo, the higher your pain threshold, the easier it is. The pain does not last long, just while squishing. Since mostly women conduct the test and have had a mamo themselves, they are usually quick about releasing the pressure asap. Do not stress and worry over it. You will do fine. ❤

Hi Tina and family. A great video as usual! Loads of projects to do and get stuck into. Glad to hear your neck problem may not be as bad as you thought…but take it steady! My wife is 55 yrs old and has been having her mammograms since she was 40. She had one last week. She is always a little fearful as you can expect and has described the experience as..at the time uncomfortable and after with a feeling of slight internal bruising. She says it’s not actually “painful”.so take it as it comes, any discomfort remember is not for ever just for a little time! You’re doing a great job at schooling…I learnt a lot!😀enjoy the sun …I would just have to stand there and soak it up! You’re all living my dream!! Thank you for your videos. Mammogram get err done. I have had several, uncomfortable for a brief period, but never been painful. The staff who do them are very experienced and really put you at ease. I ended up with a biopsy after one scan picked up a dark mass, thankfully it turns out I have “dense breast tissue” and it was a cyst - never cried so many happy tears at that outcome, but made me realise it’s important to put your health first and get all those lovely “lady checks” done when they are due.

Your home is beautiful. Know that a mammogram is like a 10 second shot. While it might be uncomfortable to have a mammogram it isn’t painful. They do turn the squeeze knob one more twist than you think is needed….it’s at that point you start deep breathing and count to 10…That image is over, do the next. If you go with the flow, they can take all views/both sides in less than 5 minutes. Get dressed, go home, done for a year. You can do it. You know what real prolonged pain is and this isn’t that. P.S. I’m an RN and have dealt with other’s pain my whole career. (L&D for 20 years)

I'm sure everyone will tell you about their experiences with a mammogram. I have zero tolerance for pain, it isn't horrible and it's over in a few minutes. Years ago they were not like today. And the machines have such high resolution making the images better at detecting cancer. The feeling of knowing your safe rather than sorry: Priceless! Love your cabin, it's so clean and cozy. I’m in my mid sixties, I have had numerous mammograms. I started getting them early in my 30s because my grandmother passed away from breast cancer. I have never had even a “hint” of pain from any of them. The one thing I will say is sometimes it’s a little uncomfortable, but it’s more of the way they make you stand up against the machine than anything. I know everyone has a different pain tolerance level. So I can’t say it won’t hurt for you, but 30 seconds of pain is worth the peace of mind knowing your doing all you can to detect what could become a serious health issue. Love your videos. Love from Northern Idaho ❤

Thank you for sharing! It’s always a joy to watch your videos. Alaska truly is God’s land! Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! I’ve had a couple mammograms, being over 50. It’s not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it doesn’t hurt. As I say this, I think it all depends on which techs do it and how “gentle” they are. So when you go tell them to be careful lol! I hope it’s tolerable for you when you go. Might I add that it’s beautiful that you are involving the Bible in P’s daily schooling. I went to a private school when I was a child and we had daily bible study class. You take God out of the equation and it’s a mess! We also prayed before each and every meal, even at school before lunch. God is great and beautiful! I wish public schools still allowed praying in school!

I love chocolate with toast too!! Make sure Joe does PSA with his prostrate, because my Dr. sent me to a specialist but he wasn't worried with the high numbers. It turned out that I had stage 4 prostrate cancer in 2018. It has been quite the adventure and a lot of answered prayers and priesthood blessings. My PSA hasn't been detectible for over 2 yrs now. The prednisone I was taking caused the squeamish cancer on left ear to take off, so a long story short I lost my left ear!! So stay on top of your cancer tests it will make much easier!! I am 68 years old. Have faithfully had a mammogram every 2 years since 40. I have never been scared it has never hurt. I have always gone in there with the attitude that it wasn’t going to hurt. This is an exam that is to keep you safe do not be scared. Don’t listen to people that try to tell you how much it hurts it might be uncomfortable but just take a couple of Tylenol before you go.

Snicker, I am the same way with my kitchen sink Tina. It has to be a double sink with both the same size and depth, this way I can do an ‘assembly line’ when I do dishes…wash then rinse and finally air dry.
The only other sink I would consider is a long ‘farm style’ sink that is deep enough for two basins to fit comfortably side by side, my grandmother had a farm style sink and I loved it….

Love ❤️ the video and the new UP grades anything to make the family 👪 a home and comfortable. The one post of the 200sq foot house 🏠 just mean you can move around more to put more stuff and the more STUFF means more cleaning and moving around it , not my cup of coffee , when I have other things to do my wife at times fight migraines do she doesn't clean alot but when she does fill good she'll get things done plus canning or making bread. Good thing you have a BIG lot so Joe can push the snow ❄️ far far away cause it will slowly 🐌 move in and get smaller around . Love ❤️ your dogs 🐕 how they are helpful with Joe fixing things. Have a blessed week and soon a home 🏡 welcoming Christmas 🎄 present 🎁 is on the way .

This message is for Joe. Joe I have married for 45 years, I have realized wives have a hidden talent to look around and remind us men of the things that need to be done or can be done. And that talent normally comes to the surface when we are minding our own business doing our own thing, like toast and chocolate milk. I love both, I will try that.

Yep, mammograms hurt.....alot ! But, as you mentioned, it is all for a good cause. Same with pap smears...no fun and somewhat embarrassing but necessary. If it had not been for my yearly checkups, I would most likely not be alive today. Had to have an emergency partial hysterectomy in 1992 because yearly exam showed very definite precancerous cells. So glad I did not skip that year as I had always had good test results before. Not to scare anyone out there; just a suggestion to also take care of yourself as you would your child, parent or spouse.
Tina, so glad you are doing so well back up in Alaska; I am so envious of you all with all of the beauty surrounding you. I've become wimpy in my old age now and am glad to live in Texas. Love your videos; keep 'em com'in !

Ok sweet lady, yes a mammogram is a bit uncomfortable for a very short time, it’s over quickly then the peace of mind knowing you did something preventative for yourself, and for your Family is way worth the ounce of “uncomfortable” at the moment. Don’t put it off, just “get r done”, then no worries. Between us girls, never have felt violated with a mammogram, just saying😂. Don’t sweat it, you have served our Country, you got this❤. A big Thank You for your Service ❤
