Brrr! It's gettin' frosty out there! Join us for another autumn DAY IN THE LIFE VLOG...We're taking ya'll to town with us for some birthday shopping for Kellen. He's going to be 8 yrs old this month & we're so excited to celebrate HIM! + We're doing a supply/grocery haul, sharing Alaska's current prices. Catching you up on the progress of our cabin bedroom addition, carving pumpkins with the kids & more! Thanks for joining us for another video...cheers!
CHICKEN POT PIE RECIPE:
Ingredients: (We always double this recipe)
1 cup cooked chicken, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 2/3 cups frozen mixed vegetables, thawed and drained
1 (10-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 cup Bisquick
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg, lightly beaten
How to make it:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine chicken, vegetables, and soup. Pour into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and egg. Pour on top of pie plate
Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown, about 30 minutes.

The dogs pouncing on the ice is one of the funniest moments in all your videos. Joe looks at them with such love and pride. Tina your hair looks so pretty. Love the color. Kellan is so comfortable and happy there sitting with the cat and dog. You and Joe have done wonders for that boy!

Hi Tina, Joe and family.I have been watching your channel for a couple of years now and appreciate your solid Christian stance and the love that centers your family. The fall baskets you made for the boys were fun for them I am sure. I have been living out my life in Jesus for just over fifty years and am thankful that He drew me to Himself all those years ago. My wife and I have two adult girls who have chosen to be on the mission field; one as a veterinarian in northern India and the other as a nurse practitioner in the Dominican Republic. My "baby" turns 30 in November. Children become adults too soon. I think Joe and I would be friends with very similar skill sets and likes however, I am not a mechanic. I pray that people think before they make negative comments about you. I wish Kellen a terrific 8th birthday.. I imagine this has been a pivotal year in his life and i will pray for God's will for the future. You do exactly what I did with my boys when they were younger. We always carve a pumpkin 👍. Even though are kids are grown we all still carve pumpkins. Sorry the haters just can’t keep their opinions to themselves. So glad you are. Have fun carving🎃

I’m Australian and a Christian and we love to celebrate Halloween. I love sitting out side out house to enjoy the fun with the kids and their parents around our neighbourhood. We don’t see it as a pagan thing we see it as a fun thing. My grandchildren dressed up 1. Female pirate .2. Paddle boat rap pilot 3. Spider and they had a great time trick a treating.
My grandsons was born in the USA when my son was representing Australia serving with the marines in Pemberton for 2 years.
We celebrate all the American celebrations as well as the Australian ones so he knows that we are proud that he was born in California USA.
Anyway it’s a lot of fun so we do it anyway if people don’t agree I say just get over it and lock your doors and hide inside and let us get on with having fun.
It feels like we all got a “havest surprise” too. Thank you for another great video. If i may you absolutely are radiating. The time off definitely was good to you. So happy y’all are back and can not wait for the adventures to come. One question, who was more “mad” at the ice Bradley or Gunner? They are too cute.

The fall baskets are a perfect idea! But we did do trick-or-treating with our kids also🎃
Quick message for Joe: I just noticed your ceiling joists being so high and short and you aren’t running a load bearing ridge beam. I would urge you strongly to run some ceiling joists connecting to the double top plates. I know that you want the vaulted ceiling so to maintain that, you could do a double joist every 4’ and then wrap it in some finish wood to look like beams. The reason this is important is the snow load. Even though your roof pitch is very steep, snow will still build up and that added weight will push the ridge beam down which will cause the rafters to push your walls out. The ceiling beams/joists prevent the walls from spreading forcing the load down the walls instead. I apologize if you already have a plan for it. I just wanted to make sure to pass it along. We built our house ourselves as well and learned that one pretty early before it became an issue.

Great idea with the fall baskets. Halloween has changed, it's not like it was years ago with sweet costumes for the little ones, handing candy out, knowing your neighbors (and trusting they wouldn't do anything to your child or the homemade candy/purchased candy). Families would look out for the kids, each other, and may do innocent little pranks with each other. If I still had little ones at home, we'd be doing harvest baskets. We've got adult children and they have little ones. We worry about our grand kids, and great grand kids with every thing going on in our world today.
Nice work on the master bedroom addition. Your pot pie looked delicious, was that corn bread as the crust? I'm going to have to try using corn bread instead of pie crust, or biscuits. I'm looking foward to watching your earlier videos. Thanks for sharing.
Agree 100% on the Halloween stuff. And with all the scares with fentanyl “showing up” in candy-no thanks. It’s just not worth the risk. They can have candy, but it’ll be candy we bought for them.☺️ The crust on the pot pie was more of a biscuit mix, not cornbread.❤️

Fun fact Amazon is literally like 5 miles away from us in Delaware (we actually have 3 locations in our small state 😂) well when we ordered some things it asked us if we wanted to pick it up? My husband said no bc traffic across town is a nightmare over there. No way..we will just wait a day. Traffic is awful there bc you have shifts changing & then drivers back & forth. Theres a reason we have prime lol & alot of stuff is the SAME as Walmart (which ironically is across the street from Amazon lol) or cheaper believe it or not! I have seen a lot of trunk n treat at churches and fall festivals this year. I don’t hand out candy as it’s mostly retired people here.😂 I hate going on Saturday to any stores! I forgot one time and the line was all the way down the aisles and realized it was Saturday…I turned around and walked out. It’s okay to celebrate Halloween as a Christian 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. My kids were ninjas and princesses, dinosaurs etc…

Of course my kids are grown and have grandkids, but we also went Trick-or-Treating with our kids. Exactly like you, they didn't dress in devil or demon costumes, but they did dress a few times in scary costumes. They actually preferred make their own from things around the house. My husband is a pastor and my kids never once thought of Halloween as "worshipping" devils or demons. I, like you, do not decorate for Halloween, just fall - can't afford that many decorations. Keep doing you and be joyous about it.
Halloween is the day before all saints day. People made Halloween evil, the pagan holiday was about the veil between the two worlds was thin and you were supposed to be able to talk to your dead relatives. Why people get so weird about Halloween is odd.
Here is a recipe for Tuscan bean soup that is so delicious: 1.5 #'s cannellini beans, 1/4 # of bacon fried crispy with the grease,one onion chopped, 6 cloves garlic, 2 or 3 sprigs rosemary, soak beans overnight, add better than bullion chicken broth to the water dump all ingredients into a soup pot and simmer until beans are soft, 1.5 to 2 hours. It's a yummy soup. Great for fall. Goes good with cheese toast or garlic bread.
I agree with you about Halloween! A harvest wreath and one pumpkin is enough on the porch! We don't have many children coming by the house anymore. Of course, we have the sweets, but sadly, we only had 4 children stop by this year. I believe, it's better, if children get together at a church or a mall to stay safe! I've missed you so much! If I ever decorate for an autumn holiday, it would be Thanksgiving instead of Halloween. I don’t mind the pumpkins, black cats and so on. I just draw a line at making everything scary to the point that it creeps everyone around you out.
