    thanks man! im a high handicapper whos been shooting 90's all season and had broken it twice, then in the last 2 games i shot an 84, and an 81 on a par 72! playing smart shots has been HUGE for me. 4 iron off the tee, and driver / fairway woods to a minimum have helped me keep my ball in play, and limit those drops!

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  2 месяца назад

      @@jotb2962 wow the 81 🙌 well played sir indeed. General process for anything score related is think smart at all times 😂 so easy to switch off for a couple of shots or try gain a stroke back and lose more and ruin the round. Ball in play is the way! Same time though still build up confidence and technique with the bigger clubs for when you go to tackle to sub 80’s (I’ve recently bounced back to the other side of 90s trying to tidy up my swing errors 😂 so don’t get disheartened when you have bad rounds 💪). Again good on you 👏

      Not a bad place to be stuck in - best thing about our kind of level is you can take 5-10 strokes off your score with just smarter play, worst thing about our level is we can add 5-10 quite easily too 😂 let me know how you go (letting go of scoring and just playing accepting bad shots were probably the biggest mindset changes that helped me)

      No problem 👍 yep its more playing to your ability and realising golf is more about how good your bad shots are opposed to how good your best are 😂 1 amazing shot doesn’t make up for 18 terrible ones, but 18 damage controlled shots can probably make up 9 shots if not more lol good luck on your next outing

    This is such good advice. I've been playing like this for a while and have broken 90 a few times. I think there's merit in this mindset, all the way up to single figures.
    I think it's important to really get you're head around net bogey being ok. It's obviously what we're trying to avoid but it's not the end of the world.

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Rob - yep certainly is. Most people play/practice once a week then expect to go round better each week 😂 pros and top players still get bogeys playing it for years and most likely daily. All the best for you getting below 90 more frequently 👍

    Great video. Loved the tips. One tip that might also help is that par 4 where missing left is worst and missing right is okay, you could have tee'd up on the right side of the tee box, taking the tree on the left side out of the equation and allowing more fairway to be visible. This is something that really has helped me before and I hope it can help someone else

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  4 месяца назад

      Yep this is definitely something that has helped me also - didn’t do it so much before when I made the video 😝 sometimes you do have to take the firmest spot if the tee box isn’t in great condition 😂.

    Hey mate well done.. Ive started using irons only as i hit my irons very well and only pulling at the big dog on par 5s

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  10 месяцев назад

      That’s what I did for a long time definitely works very well for breaking 90. Definitely worth practicing on the big dog in the meantime as it certainly is beneficial to hit further and leave a nice approach in (but not at the cost of OB etc 😂). But sounds like you have a great set up based off ‘your’ game - which where so many people fail 😂 best of luck on your golf 👍

    Great video,hate when pro's tell us how to break 90, someone like yourself I would listen to and I have subscribed. I struggled with my 5 iron(59yrs old), daisy cutting etc.., so I bought a ping 425 9 wood(€300), expensive but a great club, now when I have a 165 to 170 shot, I get it up there, not always on the green but near enough. I can't use hybrids, I find woods much easier to use. And your right about the score,only count up after you finish, get a good playing partner that wants you to succeed and not one that wants you to explode.

    • @JackPlaysGolf

      Thanks Dermont - from what I’ve heard it’s very case by case basis on pros and lessons. For people that want to play more casually/less often think all these tips are pretty beneficial. Finding people to play with where you have a good time regardless is what’s it’s about. All the best in your future rounds and keep at with the 9 wood 👍

    23:30 On par 3 why not hit short of bunkers and chip on. Especially if cannot get out of sand first time. This is a better strategy for a bogey golfer.

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  7 месяцев назад

      Certainly an option for sure - with that par 3 in particular the 2 bunkers are front of green and you hit down a little valley whilst going short would be safe of bunkers you can end up with a pretty bad lie angle or chip uphill to green - whereas long of green is very flat and safe (but I wasn’t really able to explain everything on the hole 😂) then the wind just caught it up too much. I think if you are looking to break 90 you have a couple more options on a par 3 - breaking 100 hitting short is a go to if you have doubts. Great point though 👍

  • @Malikot911

    Once you have a decent swing and mostly consistent, then breaking 90 is doable. Some folks are missing their approaches multiple times.

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  4 месяца назад

      Consistent is key (most people go wrong by trying shots they can do 1 out of 10 opposed to the 9 out of 10 - the 1 out of 10 shot does look good when it comes off mind 😂) - people also often think once they have broken 100 once breaking 90 is a couple weeks away 😂

    ProV1 may not be the best ball for your average golfer. ProV1 is meant for higher swing speed golfers. A 2 piece ball with a lower compression rating can work better. To break 90 you don’t even need to hit driver. Hit the club that will get you in play.

    • @JackPlaysGolf
      @JackPlaysGolf  25 дней назад

      @@nealhamamura4263 yep in play over distance for sure. I feel the use of a premium ball does help (from personal experience, whether it’s partially placebo also) - but trying to get under 90 the ball isn’t a major factor but just noted it could help someone get a bit of confidence 👌
