Looking forward to your next video!😊
@@charlesgreen7233 hi Charles - sorry for the delay, hopefully be out tomorrow/next couple of days 👌. I have like 6 weeks recorded just need to edit them 😂. Happy new year and here’s to some good golf for 2025
Hey Jack, I have to say your video storytelling is amazing-I couldn’t take my eyes off it for even a moment! You’ve clearly put in so much effort. I did notice your views are a bit low, though, and as a thumbnail strategist, I think tweaking your title "I Played Golf for 30 Days Without Practice-Here’s How Much My Handicap Dropped!" or thumbnail could really help your content reach a bigger audience. Your work deserves it! Would you be interested in seeing some of my design skills? I’d love to share some ideas with you
Is this a pitch and putt course? Just FYI. Don't ever hit a ball when someone is standing in front of you, even on a simple little pitch and putt course.
Nah all full courses, don’t worry never hit into group or anything - often with our high handicap 4 group some may head to the green etc whilst others are chipping on for pace of play but everyone is well aware when someone is hitting 👌
Thanks for a great year of content. Love watching all your new uploads. Appreciate your honesty in showing all your shots good bad or indifferent. Happy Christmas, and have a great new year. Hope your Dad is well on the road to recovery. Charles from Down Under.
Thanks for your message Charles and constant support over the year 👏 yep certainly had a fair range of shots 😂 happy Christmas to you and Dad has been on the mend 👊 one more video this year then lots to come in 25 👌
lol with that swing the fact that you're 17.6 is impressive.
@@ajalikhanz haha yep not the tidiest, but at impact and my connection with ball is pretty good, had one coach try to change it and another said just go with it and tweak a few bits down the line.
I chip and putt a few balls before I play. As far as the range I hit it great. It does not translate at all to the course. It just wears me out (Senior). It's just fun to go out 3 days a week year round and play.
@@davejohn255 good on you 3 days a week 🙌. Range practice is nothing like course practice anyway, much better to get out on course and enjoy the day
Good golfing mate. Maramarua is lovely. Little gem of a country course. Enjoying the content.
@@andrewdeamerad yep underrated for sure the greens are always pretty solid caught the off day of just before mowing but that was a one off. Cheers Andrew more to come 👌
Hitting the pall “pin high” in golf means that you have hit your golf ball on or near the green level to the distance of the pin.
@@TerenceBiddle that was my kinda guess at it but honestly wasn’t sure - thanks for confirming 👌
Jack, I think you should take a short break from golf. All of the practicing is putting to much pressure on your mental game. I can relate to you as I have experienced the same in my game. Fight on my brother!
@@davecarlson6836 thanks Dave, I did take a small break but it was mainly the build up on editing that stressed me 😂 back to it now, golf hopefully in a good spot and change in format of recording should help too 👌 hope all is well with you 👍
ProV1 may not be the best ball for your average golfer. ProV1 is meant for higher swing speed golfers. A 2 piece ball with a lower compression rating can work better. To break 90 you don’t even need to hit driver. Hit the club that will get you in play.
@@nealhamamura4263 yep in play over distance for sure. I feel the use of a premium ball does help (from personal experience, whether it’s partially placebo also) - but trying to get under 90 the ball isn’t a major factor but just noted it could help someone get a bit of confidence 👌
I just saw this video, I found that exact Taylormade Ball on the 5th hole 😂 at least I found the owner (p.s Im also a high handicapper, lost it at Takapuna 😂)
@crayzee_layzee9013 haha wonder where that ball is at now - probably found a couple a water hazards by now. Poor ball didn’t get it’s desired life with us 😂
Thanks mate, I can see you’re solid with the chipping game 👍🏻
@@garethroberts6988 haha at times yep, but can’t lie need to watch my own video back these days 😂 funny game golf. 100m and less is where the practice should go though 👌
I'm a " brofessional" too
Just a note, put your writing in a more contrasting color.
My NZ Brother. Hope all is well for you out on the Island. Still looking good trying to get into single digits. Keep up the work.
Thanks Bubba - this was a couple months back (lack of time for edit) but still out there chopping away at the ball 😝 hope all is well with you 👌
I play a standard round on a public course in 110. Didn’t stop me having a holiday at the millbrook, I played 36 holes a day Hope you enjoyed it
@@bryceferg5519 awesome yep definitely shouldn’t discourage anyone to play there. Awesome outing only thing I would maybe change would be take my own clubs or choose the more forgiving rental ones 😂
Beautiful views you have there. Not sure if you have had someone look at your grip or had lessons, but please!!! fix the grip. People under estimate how important the grip is and think...I will hold any old way and it will work. Looks like it's in the palm of your hand and not the fingers and you get no wrist hinge. Also the down swing is soooo steep you keep topping the tee shots. Look at the 36:00 minute tee shot and the down swing is almost vertical and it just gets the bottom of the driver. Good luck mate!
Yep the views were outrageous. This round was a few months back but I do have some grip stuff we have tried to address. Will actually put your comments forwards on the next lesson. One thing I certainly have is lots of possible ingrained bad habits. The zero wrist hinge is another one haha. Hopefully get there slowly but surely. Thanks for the feedback
Playing Golf on a course isn't going to lower your handicap, from looking at your swing and results you actually need to find a big field and practice more, basically start again and get all the basics right.
@@tanginicholls207 thanks for the feedback - I do have a coach and going over certain things (I’m not really desperate to get to single digits that’s just the goal - lot of my practice is better than course so getting out on course helps show the coach where I’m going wrong etc). Couple of the earlier weeks I put in more practice clips so will try to include a bit more (coming weeks I was unable to practice that much due to work and other commitments but I still try to get a round in as ultimately I enjoy it 👌)
Sweet as, but yeah hiring a coach can limit your wallet but if you can afford it all good luck to you, Golf has soo many variables on any day, you could be hitting drivers, irons all good but putting could damage your score card, having your game on lock within 100meters helps , but yeah practice more off the course , then knowing you can hit 10 decent shots in a row definitely helps your confidence, Golf is all about misses, the less misses the better, even the Pros say they're lucky to hit 1 great shot during a round, I played Golf almost 25 years ago, I got to 9.0 but I was just a social player I didn't take it too seriously... I've probably played 4 rds in the past 5 years, not good at all, it's all about the 'feel'... I practice a little if I get a chance. So yeah good luck and all the best on your journey while you're still young,
@@tanginicholls207 yep agree with that for sure - this particular video where I just played 2 rounds probably doesn’t show my normal mindset. The comment about the misses is so true and you only really improve by making your worst shot not so bad 😂. I’ve certainly noticed the practice I did on putting has been the best for my score and have been noticing a couple rounds now where I haven’t played good but scored well. Certainly a social player myself really - great to hear your story and thanks for the tips - great for all high handicappers and casuals 👌
I am now a 20 handicap and no longer a 'bandit' hahaha
Takapuna is my home course. I've been tracking you progress with interest. Prior to covid shut downs I was on a 17.7 HC. But since then I've had less chance to play down to once a month, and my HC went out to 23.5! Since August I've played at least once a fortnight. Its made a huge difference. I'm now back to a 17.1 and consistently scoring in the 80's again. Keep with it, you will come right. Im no pro, but to me you seem very toe down on your shots (shaft too upright). Especially with my driver I try to keep my hands lower, I'd rather go left than right and this helps me. Its a shame we wont see you at Takapuna again.
@@peterguildford2133 nice good on you Peter - that certainly does happen if you don’t get out as often (Taka has got much better in the last couple of years I reckon so will be good to see it in the coming weeks). Yep I’ve got a couple things that are identified by a pro - he has touched on the too upright shaft and needing to lean out (kinda came from leaning too far forward then overcorrecting I guess lol) Will definitely have a few rounds at taka over summer I would imagine 👌
Ive been a member of Howick for around 4 years now so Ill keep an eye out for you. Welcome to the club.
@@therealmichaelnz1603 thanks Michael - give me a shout if you see me out 👌
Don't remember if you have had lessons from a pro yet but have you had your grip looked at? Looks like you hold it in the palm like a putter and not in the fingers. Also looks like in your back swing you have the face of the driver pointing straight down at the nine o'clock position and you don't cock the wrist, you scoop it under in the back swing. Cheers mate on getting too single digit hcp.
Yep had a couple now, have one other thing with grip I’m working on where there is a gap in my interlocked fingers which I need to correct. Pretty much nail on the head with the driver, got some drills to work on to help change it, problem with the bad habit of what I’ve done means it’s kinda drilled in 😂. I’m sure in time it will start to click (I hope haha). Thanks for the feedback 👌
Hay Jack, just wanted to say I love the golf videos. I'm a high handicapper and have decided to focus on improving my game, luckily there's plenty of areas to focus on lol. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Micayla, great message to hear to get my ass into gear and finish the edit for week 4 😂. Always soo many areas haha - would recommend definitely getting putting practice in that is something that can make or break a score 👌. Anything technical I would say look at some kind of pro help - but general practice like most things put the effort in and get the reward 👊
thanks man! im a high handicapper whos been shooting 90's all season and had broken it twice, then in the last 2 games i shot an 84, and an 81 on a par 72! playing smart shots has been HUGE for me. 4 iron off the tee, and driver / fairway woods to a minimum have helped me keep my ball in play, and limit those drops!
@@jotb2962 wow the 81 🙌 well played sir indeed. General process for anything score related is think smart at all times 😂 so easy to switch off for a couple of shots or try gain a stroke back and lose more and ruin the round. Ball in play is the way! Same time though still build up confidence and technique with the bigger clubs for when you go to tackle to sub 80’s (I’ve recently bounced back to the other side of 90s trying to tidy up my swing errors 😂 so don’t get disheartened when you have bad rounds 💪). Again good on you 👏
@@JackPlaysGolf thank you man! im now in the Sim season as all my local courses are closed for the winter... definitely been having some on and off days hahaha shot a 96 first day back in the sims
Enjoyed the video, thank you. I live just over the road from Waipu course, would love to have a round next time you're up this way.
@@adamnewton9021 thanks Adam 👌, awesome would love to when im next in the area if there is space 👍
@JackPlaysGolf always space and always flexible to play. Usually go on my own.
My NS brother. Great job and working on getting down. Getting our winter vibes in now, so, can't get out as much to practice on the course. Range time has doubled from course time.
Still a fair amount of work to be done this end 😂. Not jealous of your winter scenario but glad to hear you are still getting some form of golf in 👊
Gotta be patient in your back swing on the driver.
Yep true that, it’s a matter of lack of confidence, multiple swing thoughts and fear of terrible outcomes when that club is my hand 😝 working on it though
Surely you blokes don’t give 2 foot plus gimmes in a club competition? 😂 low single figure markers maybe but with the quality of your groups putting they definitely wouldn’t be given 😂 all your doing is setting yourself up for an inaccurate handicap.
Nah normally we don’t give 1 footers 😂 the other boys think just wanted to get to hole 19 quickly. Majority of putts I will putt out, any form of competition we won’t be giving anything 😂
@@JackPlaysGolf 😂 fair enough mate, great job on the vlogs
Good job of staying calm when your tee shots weren’t great and minimizing the damage.
😂 yep I have a lot of experience from bad tee shots but was fairly happy with the outcomes on this outing
can you please play Akarana
Yeh haven’t played there yet. Seems hard to get a tee time for the most part. Is it worth the outing?
@@JackPlaysGolf yes it's 100% worth the outing. Im a junior member there and it's a really well maintained course with a mix of difficult and simple holes. In the week days there are a ton of tee times but otherwise usually there are some public slots on Sundays.
Well done bro. Love the grind and the work you are doing. Can really tell you are having fun. Keep going bro. See you in the single digits soon with that work. Yeyah!
Cheers bro, let’s see how we go 😂. If I can get a tad closer by the end of the year that would be great 👍 thanks for the support 👊
Game is really improving Jack! The harder you work, the luckier you get
Haha certain aspects coming along nicely, others still prove to detrimental 😂. But yep more you play the higher the chance the ball goes in the right spot 😝. We will get there one day
some pointer..... take away , arms and wrists are in strange position and during impact (best seen on your iron shots) both your arms are not fully extended. This is swing mechanics and where your issues with consistency come from...... chipping needs drastic improvement. Which technique you end up choosing, is a personal preference. I strongly recommend the Thai-spinner on short chips 0-25y (decreases catastrophic shots by a lot) and lofty chips with load of shoulder rotation 25-70y....... and thirdly I would strongly recommend a armlock putter / style
@@kampfzwergxp yep the bent arms at impact is something we are working to get rid of, like you said only forces inconsistency. Chipping is one of those where a few months back was real solid but then couple of confidence issues dropped in which I need to work through (will look at the Thai spinner 👍). For now I think I will stick with my putter as it’s been saving me for scores quite often 😂 maybe once other parts are smoothed out I will look to putting. Thanks for the feedback 👏
you need to pump those numbers up..... "playing every day until...." Due to Covid and homeoffice and a simulator I manage to play about 65.000 balls / strokes / hits a year for the last 3 years with about 330-340 days of golf per year...
@@kampfzwergxp haha not sure I quite have the time for those kind of numbers 😂. But that’s some solid golfing
Good luck with the swing changes, speaking from personal experience, can be very difficult!!!
Haha yep for sure 😂 the main focus will be on driver in the coming weeks and since it’s already not been great for a long time - essentially can’t be any worse. Won’t be a quick fix for sure 😝
Jack my NZ buddy. Good going and you are on the path. Hope the season out there is good for you this year. We are starting our winter now in the states, so, playing time will be limited based on the weather and the courses. Keep up the good work.
@@bubbajones1035 how did your season end? Ours is just beginning had my first twilight 9 the other day 🙌 we won’t talk about the golf but the conditions were perfect 😂
Awesome video, mate. Not sure if you want any advice from some random on RUclips but I'll offer it anyway. Your grip is the elephant in the room. The club needs to be much lower in your fingers. Not in your palm. The grip you are using is really strong and stops any wrist movement. If I gripped like that, I'd hook every ball for sure. It's a good putter grip. Maybe why you are good at putting. Anyway, great to hear you have a coach now. You'll be in single digits in no time.
Thanks 👍. Nah that’s what this is supposed to be (appreciate it) - people helping each other. My coach has pointed out something in my grip also so will note it all down and see how we go 😂. Some good shots coming along with some bad shots in the next couple of videos 😝.
Yards instead of meters 😁 my mates favorite trick as he goes running in meters and golf in yards ... good video very enjoyable ...
Love this series and input. I'd love to play a real round with you. You seem so chill and same handicap as me with the same goal.
@@gavinoliver8074 😂 I’m fairly chill, nothing worse than being bad at golf and in a mad mood 😝. I will be more active on insta now we are in spring season so will be putting out messages etc to get games in with people so if you are in NZ follow me there 👍. Hope your golf is going well 👌
Woo Hoo! I'm famous!. Keep smashing them Jack. lovely to meet you as well mate. Here's hoping to get out over summer for a hit together.
@@Datson_of_Troy haha not sure famous is the word 😂. Thanks, good to see you in the comments - can confirm watch is even more useful when in the correct unit you are playing with 😝. Hopefully 🤞 don’t rush back until you are ready don’t want a longer sidelining than needed 👌
That round was an absolute Shocker. ⚡
Was particularly buzzing after the final hole ⚡️
Nice video with good tips. However, permanently moving the camera around like crazy makes the viewer dizzy 😵💫
Yeh valid point 😂 I tried filming with the GoPro for convenience but didn’t think about putting everyone through a whirlwind 😂 good feedback 🫡
Great video for me just trying to do 100. Not too many videos of this kind.
The best advice for getting under 100 after playing for longer since this video is focus on position over distance and just play to safe spots avoiding hazards and long rough where possible even it takes an extra stroke to get to the green 👌
ive been done dirty here
I think it was a fair representation…
ET finger at the end, hilarious! Really unique golf video!
Haha yeh the thing had some zap to it, yep was good fun on the golf weekend with the boys (sadly the tournament we recorded footage was lost 😭)
