The negro GIs shared their recipes with the folks of S Korea back in WW2. I truly appreciate their spin on them. I love seeing the merging of food cultures. The pies look amazing.
SMFH While black Americans have had an influence on food in America, many other cultures have also. Black Americans have had an influence across the country, not just in the South, and there are great cooks of multiple different colors, races, etc, across the South.
@Steve-jo9cl What exhibit A? Your baseless post that is incorrect? Japan occupied Korea from 1910 until the end of WWII. There were no black GIs there. Now, there were black GIs there during the Korean War, and there are claims that they taught some of the Korean soldiers about fried chicken. Pecans weren't readily available in Korea at that time. Pecan pie had been considerably different until just a few years prior.
@@marcgarrett5427 Sir. I will take the account of the black GIs reported sharing their recipes with the Koreans (like fried chicken and pecan pie) as proof enough (exhibit A). The same way that the Chinese shared their Peking duck recipe with black sharecroppers in South Carolina which is now a staple in certain parts of the low country. Sorry your feelings are hurt because culinary history.
@Steve-jo9cl Factual Culinary history doesn't bother me at all. It's actually very interesting. Intentionally false or misleading "history" on the other hand should be called out. There are stories about black GIs showing Korean soldiers how to fry chicken during the Korean War, but I haven't seen anything about pecan pie. I have repeatedly searched since you insisted there was proof. There may be some obscure claim, but no credible ones. The only "proof" you've shown so far is your baseless posts. Provide proof of pecan pies originating in Korea due to black GIs during WWII(according to you) or even during the Korean War(when they were actually there).

Gorgeous!! I’m from the southern state of Georgia where pecan pie are famous! Those look so yummy. 😊❤️🙏🇺🇸
Maravillosa elaboración y limpieza, felicitaciones desde 🇨🇱 Chile.

And what exactly is your point? Give credit where credit is due. Exhibit A ☝🏽
@Steve-jo9cl What exhibit A? Your baseless post that is incorrect? Japan occupied Korea from 1910 until the end of WWII. There were no black GIs there. Now, there were black GIs there during the Korean War, and there are claims that they taught some of the Korean soldiers about fried chicken. Pecans weren't readily available in Korea at that time. Pecan pie had been considerably different until just a few years prior.

Sir.
