      Hidde -XIIX-, absolute beginners usually start with a bokken or shinai then graduate to a real sword once they get more skilled and confident. Starting with a real, sharpened, sword isn't a good idea because you have greater risk of injuring yourself because you don't know what you are doing. Also joining a dojo is a good idea because you can learn properly from certified instructors who can critique your technique and you have trained partners to spar with.

I"m learning this because my wrists and fingers are damaged and I need physical therapy. This has been great. My wrists are getting stronger and more flexible. It's also fun. Thank you.

    If I use a broomstick, will it be easier when i get a actual confortable sword?

    • @ShinobiCAT1
      @ShinobiCAT1  7 лет назад +2

      Crazy Gamer It would depend on the difference in length and weight. Heavier will be more difficult, and longer might be difficult if your broom is very short. But if your broom is very long then a shorter blade might be easier. It'll really just depend. Good luck!

    Trying this with a 3kg and 102cm katana. It's pretty dam hard, I really don't understand how your movements are flowing like that because after one hour of repeating slowly what are you doing in your video I still can't do this properly. The most difficult part for me is the change of direction when you bring the sword back and you try to do a forward. The forward is not a problem, but I can't do this properly, or just like you did in your video.
    Any suggestions?

    • @ShinobiCAT1
      @ShinobiCAT1  8 лет назад +2

      +~Haricho Try doing the whole thing without a forward spin in there. So, start with bringing the sword across your body as shown at 1:22 instead of starting with the spin. Then bring the sword back as shown at 1:40, but instead of bringing it back into a forward spin just a really wide, exaggerated loop. Practice doing a huge figure eight like that for a while then gradually make it smaller. You might find that you'll add in the forward spin naturally without meaning to. I hope this helps!

      +DJ COOPS I never said I couldn't explain it; I said it was hard to explain. A wise teacher knows when it is more effective to stop talking and start showing.

      +DJ COOPS It's not that I disagree about Einstein, plus I'm probably not even
      close to his level of intelligence, but I think everything is just a
      matter of perspective. some people can imagine them better than
      expressing it into words. like this comment for example, I have more
      sharp response but I can't say it as good as I think. grew up as
      introvert.

    and now start to do your movements from the center of your body , your dantien is the center 3 cm down ur bellybutton - everymovement from your sword have to start there. this must be the center of your movements. if you do that then you do the correct form of martial arts. the point to swing your sword is not in your wrist - the energy the center is down ur belly button 3cm down same as i said before. keep practice like that in ur mind and you do it same a real wu dang warrior
