    Ayyee nice setup man!! And awesome to hear that your DBX units are still going strong after 30yrs. I took the advice you gave me from your last live stream and started investing in 500 series gear. I got the DBX 560a for my 500 channel strip and it sounds great! Looking forward to keeping it for a very long time!

    That is an awesome set up! I play dobro/weissenborn/lap steel guitar and sing and am looking to upgrade to the smaller antelope interface from a roland octacapture interface and also get better microphones for recording the acoustics maybe the Neumann KM184 set . What would you reccommend to get the best recorded acoustic sound with the least amount of gear from your experience?

    • @WarrenHenry
      @WarrenHenry  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching. Without knowing your budget you can't go wrong with a two channel interface by either Antelope or Universal Audio. Also, check out the KM84's by Warm Audio they sound pretty good. Don't forget to acoustically treat the room.✌🏾

    nice video. Have you thought about adding a control surface to your workstation.

      Hey brother thanks for watching. I used to own a MACKIE control surface and sold one month after purchasing it. I found myself reaching for the mouse too often 😄

    What audio Card do you use Warren ? or you only use the Orion ? What do you think the Series 500 have the same quality of an RACK pre or EQ ? DONT you think the rack version the sound its more big ? regards from PORTUGAL Lisbon. good Videos !! you must make avideo how you connect all equipment, the Signal flow.

    • @WarrenHenry
      @WarrenHenry  2 года назад

      Victor! My Brother! Thanks for watching. Currently I am using the Antelope for most of my work. I also use a Focusrite Scarlett with my Logic Pro X workstation. When livestreaming I use the new SSL interface. When it comes to using the 500 series, I'll share with you what I was told long ago. The shortest audio path is always best. Making them the ideal choice when you want a more "in your face" type of sound. Your suggestion about signal flow is a good one. What exactly would you like me to cover?

      @@WarrenHenry Thanks for your Feedback ! One Thing its your Signal flow in your Studio how you connect all your equipment on back, cables and how you connect everyhing, people need this i think. Onder Thing is you need to talk about Focusrite Rednet and the tecnology of Ethernet connect everything with Ethernet its the Future i Think. regards from Portugal.

    Maybe a new table so your gear all remain in the sweet spot if you do mixing also.
    Hey Warren do you have any opinion/experience to share with recording steel membranophones: steel drum re: mic,pre-amp, room best choices? Thanks.

    • @WarrenHenry
      @WarrenHenry  3 года назад +2

      Miguel, thanks for watching. The table suggestion is a great one. Problem is... a brother is short on dough😜. To answer your question, years ago I did a session with a steel pan artist using the Neumann TLM 103 and the Focusrite Pre. The Neumann mic was a bit too bright for my taste. It worked out but I had to back off on the EQ come mix time. If I had to do it again I would use a Ribbon like a Royer In combo with the Focusrite. The reason the Ribbon would be my choice is that although they are a bit darker in tone, ribbon mics take eqing well without hassle come mix time. Hope that helps ✌🏾

      @@WarrenHenry yes l will look into that ribbon mic soon. Thanks Warren.

    have you ever used the Otari IZ RADAR system?

    • @WarrenHenry
      @WarrenHenry  3 года назад

      Never did. Loved the concept as Otari was an early adopter of digital audio. There were so many new and cheaper options available at the time with ADAT, DA88 it must have been a really hard sell for the company marketing wise.
