This video is my thoughts on Dolby Atmos the best format for Surround sound system today! Why I think it will become the standard of how we connect with the movies we love. I feel studios should really start putting their best foot forward and really make our movie experience that much better.. thanks for watching like share and subscribe to the channel. 😂 MR THX in the comments since it won't let me reply, I'll reply here to you. While I respect your opinion and your thoughts on Dolby Atmos to me, it brings a whole different level of experience. Just remember nothing in this world is perfect, not one thing It is a term that is thrown around. Thanks for watching..
..Lovvvvved that THX bumper back in the day! If u had the right gear… u felt it!!
OH YEAH!!!
Love this video, and the way you talk about surround sound, in general, is how I believe we should talk about home theater, which is from the heart rather than from a place of tech or specs. Good job!
Thank you! Videos like these I believe should come from the heart! I'll leave the tech & specs to the professionals like you! I wouldn't want to go toe to toe with you on audio equipment 😂 TV wise I may be able to get a few rounds in... 😂
My system is a 7.4.4 speaker layout on a Denon X3800H receiver with a laser 4k projector 135 inches screen .I have 4 subs and boy the inmerse was OMG but I went to next level adding bass shakers to my main viewing sofa, OH yeah I'm in heaven now 😍😍😍😍😍😍 and my favorite dolby Atmos movie are the whole Underworld movie saga
Now that sounds like a crazy experience 😀
I have a 7.3.2 setup, and to go to four height channels I would have to buy a new receiver, and I really like the one I have. Maybe at some point , but not yet. I’m glad you brought that up.
I feel it's unnecessary for me to add more when I get such a great sound from the 2 height channels. Plus I too like my receiver as well. No need to upgrade at this point.
Agreed, have a 5.2.2 set up. If you leave out your subwoofer what you out of the movie not the same. When added Atmos was not to convince at first need to well calibrated.
Atmos is not a gimmick. Truly does make a difference.
Heard videos. If you have very small living room or HT space might not benifit from a point four. By the way DTS-X movies often better than Dolby Atmos.
Have close to 500 movies. Most 4k.
Great video. Cheers
One can indeed have too many sets of speakers. However, if the small room is able to accommodate 5 base-level speakers, then it should be able to accommodate four height speakers as well. When dealing with elevated speakers within a small room. Ideally, it is best to try and replicate the positioning of the base-level speakers (basically having them positioned directly above)
With different speaker placements for Auro 3D and Dolby Atmos, the idea is to try to find a middle ground!
I've tried dedicated elevated speakers, and all they seem to do is fire over ones head. Might be ok for middle to large rooms but don't work in small rooms. Well, they might.. in the loosest possible terms. Hence, I finally went with speakers that are able to be aimed directly at the MLP.
After experiencing different speakers and different speaker placements and plus trying to take advantage of both sound modes, this is what seems to work best for my small room..

Just got a 5.1.2 set up with every format accept THX. I learned last night that if uou want proper Dolby Atmos from your gaming systems, you need to plug them into the unit directly if you dont have Earc. Arc will only provide the Atmos/DTS X effects when watching movies. This was a game changer for me. I do have the Hisense 5.1.2 set up and I definitely get all the effects even though it just gas the upfiring speakers on the soundbar itself. Its the best sound system I've ever owned for $300 at Best Buy (originally $350). I believe it's the AX521H model. Spacial sound is such a game changer for movies and games. Even when just listening to music its great. Tool released their last album encoded with Dolby Atmos.
That's awesome! sounds like you got yourself a nice little set-up there. I really feel that just adding little elements to surround sound can really make the experience so much more intensive and enjoyable for movie watching or game playing. Thanks for swinging by and watching...
If you're going to add height channels to your speaker configuration, I would recommend making sure your cables are shielded. Once the novelty wears off, that's where ones attention is usually drawn to the heightened ambient sound to the room (noise floor)
The faint background signal noise doesn't bother most people, but if it does, you'll have no choice other than to do it again.
Buy once cry once.
God, I want a proper Atmos setup so bad! Hopefully soon. I blame these damn kids… I wish I could experience all of these films the way I’m dying to experience them.
one day you'll have it..
You will be disappointed by how poorly most movies utilize Atmos
One of my favorite atmos tracks is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Props to Eealan Osborne for pointing this one out.
I haven't watched Harry Potter in years only own them on DVD box set and for me that's not a franchise I'd double dip for!
Great video man I’ll be honest I have wanted to get a great sound system on my tv only thing holding me back is the price and watching the older movies on my computer but that scene of the umbrella you talked about just as an example def sounds like an amazing experience
Price is always a thing so I understand... It took me a long time to build my setup but it can be done. One or two pieces at a time. If you ever want to build something send me a message or email and I can help you if I can. Thanks for watching looking forward to your next video.
i have 5.1 and Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and all so a THX systems
and all the dvds and vhs tapes and lds , and real arcade machines and dj gears so i really dont have to go out
for music or movies and owning them dvds is really a smart move and i didnt do what many others did sell or give them away
and i knew when giving up all the formats was a bad idea ....and streaming is not the way to go owning is way better and not paying every 30 days to watch
and not own is not good
Dolby atmos is great, but until the studios get more height mixes on newer movies it only a few Atmos movies so far. Right now a 5.1-7.1 DTSHD-MA or DTS-X,DTS:NURIAL-X sounds great on Blue rays or 4K/blue ray UHD.
I hear you on that! I really think it has to do with budgets from studios as well. For me I love to have it all but one can only hope for an all in one. Dolby Atmos & Dolby vision thanks for watching
I've been rocking an old-school analog set up with Dolby Pro-Logic for years and just a pair of regular house speakers. I should be moving soon, and hopefully, upgrading within the next year. Thanks for the info!
When you're ready let me know I can help with a great setup for a good price!
@@movie_av_impulse Cool!
@@dellonmovies1702 without my tv included for my entire set-up I spent $1,100 for my 5.1.2 setup
@@movie_av_impulse I will keep that in mind. I'm going to have a few other things I have to do first, but I'm definitely anxious.
Hulk start is when soldiers are chasing him in to college library & bust out the walk way. Crazy scene
Yes awesome scene & great movie! I actually prefered Edward Norton as the hulk..
In my space l am more than happy with 5.1 for movies.
2ch music is more my passion
Once you go atmos (and dts X), you just can’t see go back to not having immersive audio. Certainly can’t watch through tv speakers
Agreed 😂 when it's done right Dolby Atmos is a game changer!
Nick over here acting like I'm not running a 14" sub, and wishing for a second 🤣
5.1.4 by the way! I love the 4 height channels.
I would love to have 2 subs but the one rattles my entire living room as it is 😂
7:54 I need to step my Dolby atmos game up and get some equipment up
It was tough but worth the headache in the long run! 💪🏽
Ambulance
Crazy movie for Dolby Atmos...
went , i did projection 1989 CIC/UCI cinemas , tower park that used experimental overhead surround in all ten screens , also warner bros 1998 and then finished quit , ( now retired ) a very deep THX listener , literally
err what , its been around for 11 years and atmos is seriously technically flawed , i guess you don't pay attention to real sounds even in your room its easy to hear , guess you never been to a professional THX sound system cinema before with JBL professional cinema
besides i have the real actual , lucasfilm ltd THX sound system
those blu4k discs , oh those are just tamped near field remixes , for theatrical mixes got use laserdisc that contain theatrical mixes , pioneer laserdisc
atmos , please , its a mixing encoding decoding deliver format dolby truehd , but it is flawed , rain ? please rain is freefalling literally silent ! until those raindrops land on random surface objects and atmos is flawed there literally isn't enough encode/decode channels which would literally be in the millions , atmos is a watered down format , same with all past sound system speakers watered down , the speakers give hot-spots of sounds nothing close to real world sounds , just a small proximity and atmos has only added more speakers , waste along the sidewalls , and few on the ceiling , but none for actual below surround or in-floor or placed on the floor
shoestring ebay Dolby CP850 been around for 11 years and prices are on some cheaper than trinnov , even stormaudio or JBL , but you still be disappointed as it can't do ( below floor surround ) so sound objects that move off , oh just watch my ranting videos on this , atmos simply bores me now , plus i use CIC/UCI experimental overhead surround that makes atmos literally boring , can't say i'm naturally disappointed with atmos
