This is probably Home Free at their very best. Many folks dismiss them off-hand because they are country based...people won't even listen to them, and I have seen reactors who just laugh at them because they think they are unsophisticated country bumpkins....when the reality is they are educated (4 of the 5 have degrees in music theory) and really know what they are doing !!! And they do it brilliantly...it's why we are such dedicated Home Fries
Kevin, you don’t have to validate them. Their talent speaks for itself. If others would laugh at something like this I would say they are the ones that are musically challenged.
Kevin I agree. I’m in awe of everyone of them. Some people just don’t or can’t see the genius about anything that’s not on their level. It’s pretty pathetic when you think about it.
The fact that this is a song written for the Faulklands War between Great Britian and Argentina. Then Arranged by Finnish musicians, and gently shaped for the US Memorial Day. The realization that we are people in belief. The ghosts that are made by the Home Free Men is incredible.
It could be writ about any war. From The Faulklands, to Vietnam, to WW2. The line "We're fools to make war on our Brothers in Arms" could even refer to the political "cold war" we currently live in (AKA the "culture war") Some songs are f*cking timeless- this is one.
These guys have gotten a lot of shit for their patriotic songs/videos. They LOVE EVERYONE!! they don't care what color you are or your religion, they love their country, they love where they're from. These men are so caring, kind and funny. This country needs more people like them. Great reaction ❤❤🇺🇸

Individually they are all extremely talented, but to be honest, great singers are a dime a dozen, they're all over RUclips. Where Home Free REALLY shines is when they sing together. Only one word describes them... Phenomenal!
No other group can match these guy's... This is just haunting and yes, brings a tear to my eye's..Their harmonies are so perfect and Tim bringing in the first lead is a great choice. This is done so well that it makes you feel like your heart is being pulled into the screen, like you're right there with the soldier that just passed. Just love these guy's and can't wait to see them again in concert...Remember the Beatles ? Of course you do.. Well, Home Free is my Beatles... Their latest album " Land Of The Free " is great too. " Every Body Walking This Land " will make you think too.. We are Blessed to get to hear them use their gifts.. Just subbed.
I rediscovered Home Free during lockdown. I had seen them on the sing off back in 2013 and swore if they didn't win I'd never watch the show again. I lost track of them for years. When I found them again I was knocked on my butt that they existed. I've fell into the rabbit hole and have deep dived into them and they still manage to surprise me over and over again. They are definitely magic. Their morals, messages, talent and skill keeps me always wanting more. You voice all the feelings I have about them in every video. Love your reactions. You can always tell when someone is truly a Home Fry....the awe. Welcome to the Home Fry Family!!!!
When I first signed up for Tim's Patreon page, I sent him a brief message and replied back the next day! He started off with "Welcome to the family!". What other person/group considers their fans as "family"? I was totally blown away. Nick, I hope you get to talk to Tim and Austin at the backyard bash. They seem like down to earth guys. I love how they are proud to show their patriotism openly.
Can I call this a work of art? What a masterpiece..My grandfather was drafted in to WWII at the age of 34, and 6 months in, was killed in a tank in Germany, leaving behind 3 daughters (my mother was 3 years old) When Tim sings "We are fools to make war with our brothers in Arms" that hits me in my heart every time..I have Tears from the harmony and the message.
Thank you so much for appreciating our Veterans. My husband served for 23 years and is now a 70% disabled retired vet. a helicopter crash ended his career but his and our loyalty to this country and its people has never wavered. God bless America!
The arrangement was made by a finnish a cappella group called Club for Five. Someone told that Home Free contacted them about the arrangement and they just gave it to them. Of course they have added some of their own spin to it, but they stayed pretty true to the Club for Five -arrangement. This is so beautiful and they are just so talented! I hope you get to their fun stuff soon!
Part of it was.. they changed 95% of the arrangement and tone/key/octaves as well as the overall sound/feel of the song plus the bass lines sound nothing alike at all tims is WAYYY deeper and fuller... go and watch them back to back and you will see what I am talking about... Tim contacted club for five about changing the arrangement of the song and club for five basically just gave the arrangement too then to do with as they wanted
@@richardgrace4500 Oh, well, I did listen to Club for Five version and to me the base of the song sounded a lot alike. But, I'm in no way an expert in music, so thanks for correcting me! The most important thing is that it sounds great 😀
This is an A Capella masterpiece. The finest of Home Free of their entire body of work. Their new platinum standard. I would say their previous gold standard is Helplessly Hoping, which is all singing and no beatboxing as well.
I have always loved this song by Dire Straits but think Home Free did an excellent version of this song. Tim's natural breathy bass was awesome & so were all the guys doing 5 part harmonies. And you are right, these are 5 very handsome fellas with extreme talent. They are all great on their own but when they come together it is perfection.
Home Free can make you laugh or cry. Or just get this weird smile on your face. I love this song but it is very heavy emotionally. You should look for their funny ones..."Honey, I'm Good" "Champagne Taste" "Butts Medley", "Quarantine" or "Workin For livin". Just as a way to lift up a bit. They aren't all serious in their songs. Many of their arrangements are by their producer, Darin Rust but this one was by an a capella group called Club for 5. But Adam Rupp and his brother Chris have done arrangements as well. And yes, Adam Chance (called Chance), Tim Foust and Austin Brown have done solo work or collabs with various other singers/ groups. Rob recently collabed with Chris Rupp and the acapella group 7th Avenue (which includes Adam and Chris's sister!) Rob doesn't do solo work but he does have a podcast about movies! Adam Rupp doesn't sing much but he has been known to show up and play bass guitar for Austin and Tim for special events. It's really shocking at how much talent is in this group of 5 guys....singing, playing instruments, writing songs, arranging songs, writing stories/poems, drawing...it is all there in abundance!
As a group I see how much they all care about each other and they love to play together. They fish and go off roading and Bar-B-Q together. They genuinely like each other as a family. And they're all good wholesome people.
Every single time I listen to this song chills go down my spine and then tears start. It is everything and I dont have the words !!! Just superior talent from the 5 guys, the Best !!
It took this video for me to truly understand this song. I truly enjoy watching your reaction to this song. Adam goes by Chance to not get confused with Adam Rupp.
My description is Hauntingly Beautiful….most fitting. One thing about these wonderful guys….they are are patriotic to the core🇺🇸‼️🇺🇸 “WORKIN FOR A LIVIN”…….Adam does an AWESOME SOLO‼️🔥‼️. It’s KILLER 🔥🥰‼️ Thank You for your great reaction 🥰‼️🇺🇸
These guys have the most beautiful harmonies I have ever heard in my life time and yes the bonus is that they are all very handsome young men. I love how they show such wonderful respect to all veterans as I come from a family of many military service members. Some who never made it home.💔✌
Home Free has a way of connecting you to your humanity with their music and their example of how they approach life. Love these guys more and more. This is such a wonderful performance.
Ok if you want to take turns with each of them taking lead them I suggest: End of the Road (Boyz to Men cover) Rob takes lead When a man loves a Woman (Percy Sledge cover) Austin takes lead I can't outrun you (Trace Atkins cover) Chance takes lead Everbody Walkin' This Land (Paul Cauthen cover) Tim takes lead. This will get you used to how each of them sound. But what ever you do, don't watch Mayday until you get to know their names and how they typically sound.
Home Free guys all try out each song to decide who gets to sing lead, that is, who suits it best. There is no ego in the group. They are building individual YT channels / projects/ hobbies since Lockdown. They support each other's projects and collaborate but there will always be Home Free, the group. Thank you for supporting their channel.
Of the a capella groups, Home Free and VoicePlay have their own music labels and generally will not be blocked. Pentatonix is with Sony or SME and their music is more likely to get blocked. Great reaction! You might want to recover by watching one of their comedic videos next. Two funny ones are a Tim Foust original, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget and the Rupp brothers arrangement of the Butts Medley. Both of these will have Chris Rupp in the lineup instead of Chance.
The last lyric is the most powerful: It's written in starlight and across your palms. We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms. I knew this from Dire Straights but the slow somber presentation here makes every word drive home.
This song was written and performed by Dire Straits shortly after the British Falkland Island war. The vocal arrangement was given to Tim by the bass of a Finnish vocal group called Club for Five. But, of course, Home Free stepped it up with the amazing harmonies and the awesome solos. This video came out in time for Veterans Day. A fitting tribute, I think. Thanks for your reaction, I’m subscribing to see your journey.
The song itself is haunting. Dire Straits performed it in 1985 when Vietnam was still fresh. This release coming on the end of Afghanistan is so appropriate.
My favorite of your comments on this one: "We don't deserve this - as a species." Awesome. This song is so beautiful, haunting and poignant. And Home Free did it masterfully. Thank you for your reaction - if it didn't 'get you in the feels', then I would be worried about you.
Dire Straits was used in an Episode of Miami Vice Episode Out where the Buses Don't Run...probably best MV Episode that show was so great for music back then
Well, hell. This is an absolutely beautiful song. Not taking away from that. But I would love for you to see the humor and joy that Home Free can bring. Live it up!
Watching your reaction again today on March 2, 2022 and how pertinent this song is right now with Ukraine and Russia is incredible. PS. I love your reactions!
You'll find that Home Free are all about inclusivity. They never shy away from sensitive social issues and are unapologetic about their patriotism or their willingness to use their platform to spread important messages. Please check out Everybody Walkin This Land and listen all the way through Tim's message at the end! You will love it!
Home Free is my favorite group of any kind. I absolutely love these guys. There talent is spectacular, they're patriotic, humerus, humble and just all around great people. So happy to see you appreciate them as much as we do.
Tim and Chance, when silhouetted against the window light, remind me very much of the POW-MIA remembrance flag we fly in honor of our captured and missing military personnel. I find it haunting and reverent.
The simple fact of the toned down reaction from Saucy on this one from his usual upbeat and comical type reaction shows how well done HomeFree was with this rendition.
Ethereal. Haunting. Gut wrenching. Soul stirring. Angelic. The only thing missing was the seraphic choir backing them up. Excuse me while I track down my soul and stuff it back into my body...
Love this song. I love the original song as well. It has been a favorite since it came out in..... 1985 I think. Dire Straits did it when England was fighting in the Falkland islands. I love the way HF did this. So, so good.....
If you've noticed, Tim uses his hands when he sings. (The others do as well to a certain extent.) When he drops his hand down, then you know the voice is following! Still liking your reactions!
I have heard them sing this song.. But I can't watch it all the way through anymore , Brings me to tears and I don't want to get down today thank you for playing it and respecting it.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Don't worry about getting blocked if the video is with the current lineup that includes Adam Chance. Home Free has had their own label and production company for the past few years. If the video description says licensed to RUclips by Home Free you are good. The Home Free guys are known to comment on reactors channels from time to time too.
This song is gorgeous, and yes tugs your heart. Bless all our Soldiers, ALL of them. That being said, if you wish to hear Tim sing another deep song, check out his collaboration with Peter Hollens when they sing Misty Mountains from the Lord of the Rings.
The breathy quality of Tim's beginning vocals draws you in and the harmonies keep you there. This is beautiful! Their cover of Boyz2Men's End of the Road is another you shouldn't miss
Home Fry here! :-) They really are just awesome at everything, eh? You mentioned about Tim's grey hair. He said in one of their little FB videos or someplace that his hair actually has been grey a long time but pre-COVID he was coloring it. During lockdown he didn't and then just decided the awkward, growing out, part was over so he would just go natural now.
Yes! They did a phenomenal cover here! I get chills every time I watch the video or listen to it on my phone. Home Free is always my “go to” music when I need to feel better physically or mentally, or any other time I want to hear really good vocals. They just put me in such a great frame of mind. I don’t know where you live, but if they are ever in your area or in close proximity to drive there, you should really check out their live show. You will not be disappointed. It’s an experience that you’ll want to revisit over and over again. Loved your reaction to the video! Your eyes said it all when Tim first started singing at the beginning!
It's written by and for Dire Straits, released after the Falklands war, and the original has a lot of guitar where we have voice humming. I think HF nailed it, it's so hauntingly beautiful. And I am glad you noticed the wind, not everyone does. Thanks, SD! A new subscriber here, a proud vet and I love your HF reactions. Not a horror fan, but I'll watch all the HF you can dish up.
Hauntingly beautiful. It’s so good. Loved Tim’s low notes. Loved the echoes. Loved the black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. Stunning! Yeah it’s beautiful and wears you out at the same time. God bless our soldiers. Good reaction SD!
Not a fan of country music so when they do a country song it's the first time I've heard it. This song right here shows they are so much more than a country vocal band. Really liked your reaction to the song and their vocals that this song deserved.
When yousaid "we all are human, we all are people..." I instantly thought about Jeffrey East and Home Free doing a song called "People". Jeffrey East is a friend to the guys in Home Free and have done some original songs to Home Free. Check him out also, he have his own channel on RUclips and Spotify. He have such a beautiful voice and I really like his lyrics of his songs.
A master class in perfect harmony . And you will appreciate it even more after you listen to some of their more light hearted songs like The Butts Medley ... these guys are goofy and enjoy having fun ! Glad you have become a Home Fry !
Loved your reaction and your wife words. Yes, I'm also not religious, but I'm very spiritual. Energies and human existence are my passion together with loving my life from the depth of my heart and soul. It's working out way better than not being in my heart where our life force comes through. 🥰 We are fools to make war on our Brothers in Arms. To me that includes everyone, including myself. The biggest wars are those we fight within ourselves and if we instead accept, appreciate and love ourselves the fighting outside of us would lessen too. Thanks for your reaction! New subscriber here. 🙏🥰
This is an amazing song and Home Free did it justice. The haunting and ghostly way this is done is beyond good. It is tough to get through, but so well done. Agree with those below on other songs to react to. One of my favorite is Honey I'm Good. Lot of fun. Butt's Remix/Medley is a lot of fun...Friends in Low Places...Garth Brooks cover...Whatever you pick will be great. Thanks again, I really enjoy your reactions.
This is a beautiful song that is sung so well by Home Free! I love Tim’s and Chance’s voices. The harmonies in this song are so beautiful that I could listen to them all day!
This video is one of HF's best, a masterpiece! Your first reaction to the song describes it very aptly - WOW! Having Tim and Chance perform the solos has a stunning effect. Tim's voice is so clear, so smooth, despite the super low notes. And when Chance steps in with his fantastic voice, that's just phenomenal. The two of them create the perfect atmosphere for this song with their deep voices. Thanks for another great reaction!
I love watching your reactions , your very funny, and a real man can laugh at him self and love another man for his talents at the same time .stay real bless you, love and light to you.
May I suggest “Everybody walkin this land” next, and listen to what Tim says after? Their last album Land of the free sounds and are in a way very patriotic. As a person not from the US I did first not know what to think about that. Not after everything that has been going on the last years. But now after listening to it many times and hearing the guys talk about the songs I think it's a positive kind of patriotism. An including unifying kind. We all have to work together, not against each other. We are fools to make war on our brothers in arms....
Speaking of earning it, have you seen Austin's video of his song called Earn It? That and Off the Grid were immediate favorites with me. And Take the Night Off showed the wonderful spark between Austin and Amberly and went right to my faves playlist.
Thank you for the best reaction I've heard so far of this song. Your reverence for the song, as well as our guys is appreciated. I'm sure you've heard this before but Adam Chance, front left, is called "Chance" so there is no confusion with Adam the beatboxer. Awesome reaction, thank you so much!! I'll be coming back and re-listening to it many times. FYI, you're not the only reactor who's run out of words describing HF... (I use MAGIC a lot!!) & 'Gift" was perfect!!! I know of a team of guys who quit reacting to them because they would say the same things over and over. I hope that that is never you! Have a wonderful day!!

For a fun song I recommend The Country Fried Pop Medley or The Butts Remix
Home Free is my favorite group of any kind. I absolutely love these guys. There talent is spectacular, they're patriotic, humerus, humble and just all around great people. So happy to see you appreciate them as much as we do.
Such a heartfelt song as only Home Free can do.! Love your reaction!
Tim and Chance, when silhouetted against the window light, remind me very much of the POW-MIA remembrance flag we fly in honor of our captured and missing military personnel. I find it haunting and reverent.
This is hauntingly beautiful as only Home Free could do it! Anyone who remains untouched when hearing this has no soul!🇺🇸❤️
Home Free are fantastic!
Love this song. I love the original song as well. It has been a favorite since it came out in..... 1985 I think. Dire Straits did it when England was fighting in the Falkland islands.
I love the way HF did this. So, so good.....
Beauiful
Love all their songs. Right now Dreamer is my favorite.
If you've noticed, Tim uses his hands when he sings. (The others do as well to a certain extent.) When he drops his hand down, then you know the voice is following! Still liking your reactions!
I have heard them sing this song.. But I can't watch it all the way through anymore , Brings me to tears and I don't want to get down today thank you for playing it and respecting it.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This video is Haunting, Mesmerizing, Magical and a Beautiful Masterpice.
Amen, young man, Amen ❤
Thanks to Our Men and Woman!
Thanks for this one....it is so hauntingly beautiful! Home Free did it again...perfection at its finest!
Don't worry about getting blocked if the video is with the current lineup that includes Adam Chance. Home Free has had their own label and production company for the past few years. If the video description says licensed to RUclips by Home Free you are good. The Home Free guys are known to comment on reactors channels from time to time too.
I loved your comment about..."The whole world needs to hear this". Such a profound message put to beautiful harmonies.🙌
Home free “everybody walking this land”. Love your channel
This song is gorgeous, and yes tugs your heart. Bless all our Soldiers, ALL of them. That being said, if you wish to hear Tim sing another deep song, check out his collaboration with Peter Hollens when they sing Misty Mountains from the Lord of the Rings.
As with all their music, just close your eyes and let their voices take you on a journey unlike nobody else can. Pure magic.
that last line!!! holy crap!! Tim seems to sing this from the grave, maybe his???
The breathy quality of Tim's beginning vocals draws you in and the harmonies keep you there. This is beautiful!
Their cover of Boyz2Men's End of the Road is another you shouldn't miss
Time to discover their funny side, Butts Remix next
Majestic!
Good reaction SD!
i have a suggestion Everybody Walking This Land has a good message and is one of my favorites like your reactions thank you smiles and love
When he started turning grey, Tim was asked about the hair cut.
"I'm not ready to look like Willie Nelson."
A master class in perfect harmony . And you will appreciate it even more after you listen to some of their more light hearted songs like The Butts Medley ... these guys are goofy and enjoy having fun ! Glad you have become a Home Fry !
love your reaction,
Loved your reaction and your wife words. Yes, I'm also not religious, but I'm very spiritual. Energies and human existence are my passion together with loving my life from the depth of my heart and soul. It's working out way better than not being in my heart where our life force comes through. 🥰
We are fools to make war on our Brothers in Arms. To me that includes everyone, including myself. The biggest wars are those we fight within ourselves and if we instead accept, appreciate and love ourselves the fighting outside of us would lessen too.
Thanks for your reaction! New subscriber here. 🙏🥰
Should be played at every soldier’s memorial.
Thank you, what a wonderful reaction! You are such a pleasure to follow you, and I look forward to your next HF reaction!🤗❤️
My earphones vibrate when Tim sings
Thank you for being here, Saucey Dad.
A cover of the English band Dire Straits. They had a massive album released in 1985, called, "Brothers In Arms".
Go awesome I love them
Another request: Everybody’s walking this land.
Speaking of earning it, have you seen Austin's video of his song called Earn It? That and Off the Grid were immediate favorites with me. And Take the Night Off showed the wonderful spark between Austin and Amberly and went right to my faves playlist.
No matter what they do is great❤️
Thank you for sharing your thoughts...
Blown away every time...
“Amen!” Indeed! They can make me laugh, think, cry, etc. I saw them in concert a couple of weeks ago. Oh, my goodness! Just as awesome live! Their catalog is vast and I have been through it several times. Enjoying your discovery of them.
Terrific, beautiful reaction, thank you! They are, indeed, magical together.
