@@tanicha All was going well until you picked up the glycolic acid and lactic acid. These are a no no for skin of color girl step away this is why not everyone shld be giving this kinda info on a public platform with no disclaimer!? Ahas are formulated for Caucasians and not melanated people cause its a small molecule it will cut thru skin and cause hot spots. For more education watch Dr vanitta rattan here in yt. She is a specialist in hyperpigmentation, she is an actual doctor, she is also a cosmetic formulator. This is not a diss but we all learn something every day. Have a great day everyone.

I used to use the Glycolic Acid too until I found out that those with darker skin tones need a less intense AHA. The glycolic acid goes the deepest into the skin so it triggers the melanin cells to overproduce in that certain area resulting in more dark spots over time. Mandelic acid, lactic acid or glycolic acid no more than 5% is recommended for the melanated peeps from Black derms!

AMAZING video!!! Love to see black Women recommending SUNSCREEN! It’s especially important for POC because of our ability to hyperpigment at the drop of a hat! BUT I do want to say that for POC we need to be careful using AHA’s as it has the possibility of burning our skin and causing further hyperpigmentation. I also use the Glycolic Acid 7% however I use it max 2-3x per week ONLY AT NIGHT as it can cause hot spots on the skin (leads to hyperpigmentation) and I would advise against exfoliating everyday whether that be chemical or physical exfoliants 😊. BHA’s are more gentle for the skin and can be used a little more frequently, ex. Salycilic acid. Once again I LOVE this video and hope this comment further helps!

Just finished my 3th course of accutane and at the end I stil had this acne in my jaw and neck area. So I started to use the ordinary in the last week of my course.. WOW within a week those stubborn mf's were gone! I never had anything that would work on my skin and I have been searching for 10 years what I was doing wrong. It seemed to come from the inside out. So now I am 1,5 months of accutane and it's such a difference from the last 2 times! I will be sticking with these products and hopefully for the first time in my life, my acne won't come back. And yes I tried a lot of stuff on my skin. I could have bought a brand new car.. So if this will continue I'll be a loyal customer on my poor white knees singing hallelujah to the ordinary. LOL

    hyaluronic acid- first step moisturizer
niacinamide- second step helps control oil production. must be used with a sun protector
glycolic acid- step after cleanser but before hyaluronic acid. chemical exfoliator do not mix with other aha’s.
lactic acid- more sensitive than one above. alternative to glycolic acid. less intense of an exfoliate.
Magnesium phosphate- vitamin c. helps get rid of hyperpigmentation and dark spots. after serums but before moisturizer.

Be careful with glycolic acid esp if you have darker skin tone! If you’re not sure how sensitive you are to acids, please start 1-2 x a week. You do not want to get irritated or burned because you are at risk to scarring over a lot and hyperpigmentation. I learned the hard way.
To be safest start with 5% lactic acid or mandelic acid a few times a week.

It's great that it's affordable too because lawwwd knows, active skincare can be hella expensive🙈. *What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
      Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
      Romans 10:9
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
      JESUS CHRIST can come anytime!
Just Believe ❤️ Love you and GOD BLESS

I can just cry right now, All i can say is thank you. I have spent so much money with dermatologist and paying stuff to try to fix my Face. THE ORDINARY has totally changed my life in just a week. God bless you.
I am allergic to alot of products. Coconut allergies n nut allergies. My pimples n pumps are dried up n clearing up
    My skin routine
Day: With cotton pad Wipe face with Neutrogena oil absorbing toner diluted with water(Dilute the whole bottle- 1 parts- water 1 parts- Neutrogena toner)
Differin daily deep cleanser for massage for 1 minute, glycolic acid, while face is still moist apply hyaluronic acid +b5, niacinamide zinc, then I spot with azelilaic acid, then last Differin oil absorbing moisturizers with spf 30 before I leave my house ( I never knew the importance of sunscreen- Need need need)
Night routine: With cotton pad Wipe face with Neutrogena oil absorbing toner diluted with water(Dilute the whole bottle- 1 parts water, 1 parts Neutrogena toner)
Solimo daily acne control cleanser with benzo peroxide, then I use lactic acid(patted on), a drop of mandelic acid (patted on) then Solimo oil free moisturizer. Then lastly VASELINE HEALIMG OINTMENT(helps with scaring)
Drinking more water, more fruits and vegetables, staying away from fried foods and working out 5 x a week.
I am more confident in my skin, mostly my face. I don't even need to wear make up.
God bless you abd thank you Ordinary.

AHAs and Peeling solutions ARE good for hyperpigmentation. The reason people say it makes it worse and it will come back is because Black people are bad at using sunscreen. Any acid is going to make your skin vulnerable to the sun, so yes any acid (especially in the morning) is going to lead to more melanin production IFFFF you don’t use sunscreen. Saying dark skin shouldn’t use chemical exfoliants is the new black people shouldn’t use sunscreen.

Question, so when the ordinary mentions "brightens skin tone", is that strictly for hyperpigmentation or will it as well affect my natural melanin levels? I do not want to see affects on my skin as if I had bleached my skin.

    • @tanicha
      @tanicha  4 года назад +492

Totally valid concern! So when they say brighten the skin, what the products will do is brighten the dark spots and hyperpigmentation and also make your skin more radiant - it doesn’t bleach your skin in any way so don’t be worried about that. Overtime it will basically brighten it so that it appears more youthful so you glow from within!🤩✨

Glycolic acid can actually worsen hyperpigmentation because the molecule is so small, it can cause irritation which leads to inflammation which leads to hyperpigmentation. A better option is lactic acid or mandelic acid because it's a bigger molecule, causing less irritation which lowers the risk of hyperpigmentation. Dr. Vanita has spoken about this on her channel. And, I think Susan Yara on Mixed Makeup has a recent video with a black female dermatologist who speaks about this as well. Just wanted to let you know, I used to love and religiously use glycolic acid, and then I realized it could actually be worsening my hyperpigmentation. :)
Another two products to mention from the Ordinary, Alpha Arbutin + HA and the Ascrobic Acid and Alpha Arbutin. Alpha Arbutin is a tyrosinase inhibitor so prevent the overproduction of melanin in one area. Vitamin C and Arbutin are a great duo!

Hi! New subbie here 🙋🏻‍♀️ This is the first video I watched of yours and I subscribed right after ☺️ Your recommendations are really good and I want to look more into them for my skincare routine. I have been using the niacinamide and the hyaluronic acid for about 3 weeks now and I see subtle results! I am going to keep at it to see if it can help my skin even more. I also learned new stuff from you like not to use the glycolic acid toning solution and the lactic acid at the same time, I was doing that so I will stop 😳 also I was mixing the niacinamide and the hylaruonic acid, not giving each product enough time to sink into my skin 😳 so now I will layer them and let each one do its thing lol. Loved your personality and video and I look forward to seeing more content from you in the future ☺️

    • @tanicha

Yes! I think your routine looks great!
And exactly! You definitely don’t want to mix the L-Ascorbic acid powder with the glycolic on the same night so you’ll be fine if you alternate the days/nights when you use them. Its also recommended to mix the L-Ascorbic acid powder with their Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic acid 3% - also provides amazing results, so try that if you want something new!
