    This tutorial made me want to get Bitwig LOL. Very nice. I love the way you explained everything in detail and didn't simply just gloss over the small bits. Most would assume folks knew what they were talking about and end up leaving people behind due to lack of detail. You didn't do this! Thanks again for another great post.

      Trae McCombs thanks a lot for your kind feedback. Yes, I thought since some of my tutorials are quite advanced and with many topics I wanted to step back and make a more focused tutorial on one device and explain it a bit lighter. Happy to see you!

    How to use Bitwig Tutorial - Polysynth Device - The Basics. In this video we explore the Polysynth Device of Bitwig. I explain the features of the plugin and take you through synthesizing some simple sounds. If you are new to Bitwig, you will discover how to make sounds in Bitwig. Polysynth has evolved since previous Bitwig versions, and we now have some serious sound shaping capabilities with things like wave shaper, and osc mix variations....and some FM.

    Been testing Bitwig for about a week now, and ABSOLUTELY will be buying it today from Guitar Center here in Dallas, Tx. Have been using Abelton for a long time, but Bitwig solved the crashing issues with the sandboxing ect.... My only issue is as I am playing with the demo, and I load a 32 bit synth the sound is distorted, but not with 64 bit synths. Not sure what it is, but it didn't crash Bitwig. I'm on a Windows 10 quad core 64 bit machine by the way. Great tutorials as well... I'm ready for the full version. Thanks

      @MattiasHolmgren  6 лет назад

      Boris, indeed it's a very swift synth to get some simple sounds going. And when you start using Instrument Layers and layer Polysynth with samples and the other Bitwig Devices things really start to roll! Happy to see you around, and good to hear from you! =)

    I am very grateful for your videos. You said something at 8.29/8.30 about a section. I could not really understand the word you said before you said section. I am sorry, and if possible can you please tell me what you said in your reply. I think it is the button next to the velocity button. I really would appreciate your reply, and your videos have helped me a lot. Many thanks.

      Happy to hear you enjoy my videos. In the small buttons: First (left) you have the Amp Velocity (vel input from the keyboard). Second(right) is the overall Gain knob. Then the bigger button below is the master Output (Volume) for the device. Hope the info helps. Thanks.

    yet another great tutorial. Thanks!! I have one question, when you have made your sound in the polysynth, how do you save that setting as a new preset?

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  4 года назад +1

      Hi thanks. Just drag the device over to your browser panel at the right side. A popup will appear where you can enter meta-data. Remember if you want all your sub devices to be saved with the preset, make sure they are "chained", put in the FX slot of the polysynth. I did a video on this because its not that obvious how you get a complete "set" of devices saved in One preset.
      I also sometimes put them all in a Chain device or instrument layer container depending on what I want to do. Did that work out for you? //Mattias

    Thanks Mittias. The polysynth intuitively difficult for me. I'm used to 3xOsc from Fruty loops.

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  6 лет назад +1

      Hehe, yeah the 3xosc is cool. Sometimes I miss triangle and pure sine in the Polysynth. But then again there are of course other devices in Bitwig handling such, like Phase-4, Organ... and FM-4. A native wavetablesynth like Ableton would be cool. But we got Serum, Omnisphere and Massive for that ;) Thanks for watching David!!!

    Hello ! How did you created that midi clip with fade in line ( I can see the midi is not square at the start )? thank you

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  3 года назад +1

      Hi Szymon, that's not a fade-in on the midi clips. It's probably an "old" design in Bitwig Studio 2. This is one of my older videos from 2018. 🌞

    Are you able to make your music in a certain hertz ?

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  4 года назад

      I dunno, I make music in many keys, it doesn't matter. Some keys work better with my voice though. ;) But I never think about the actual hertz value, except when working with sub-bass / kicks.

    At 3:20 you say "So let's first add some notes so we have something to work with while we are exploring the Polysynth." Suddenly I have no idea what's going on. Somehow you create a blue rectangle in the Polysynth track. What is it? How does it relate to adding notes? How is it created? There's knowledge expected here that I just don't have.

      Hi Jesse,
      1. Press the device name (Polysynth). Now you get info on the device in the left inspector.
      2. In the inspector for Polysynth device set the Voices to 1 = mono.
      3. In the Polysynth devcie parameters, bump the glide to 30ms.
      4. Press the little "L" button besides the Glide param if you want "Legato mode".
      5. Glide n slide. ;)
