This film was originally shot by Lionel Paten of Peterborough in 1939.
It was recorded in Cine Film, and the film transferred to VHS many years ago, including the original titling (which Ive left in this portion of film).
In Nov 2020 the VHS tape was digitally captured into MP4 by Simon Kelsall.
The film documents the Voyage of the Duchess of Bedford, from Glasgow to India (Bombay)
The first convoy of ships assembled at Greenock on the 4th September, SS Duchess of Bedford was among 11 ships sailing.
Whilst waiting to Sail a number of officers responded to the Call to paint the ship, and this is captured within this film, plus a number of stops made along the way.
The "Duchess" and "Britannic" reached Bombay on the 26th September 1939.
