It’s so good to see that AG is collaborating with a Moroccan family business to sell these slippers, unlike the likes of Celine, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Balenciaga who just copied the babouche design and then sold it for ridiculous prices.
Love seeing an outsiders point of view of my country, it renews my appreciation of Morocco's uniqueness, which is something I sometimes take for granted or even find inconvenient. Nice vlog AG!
Riad is a traditional Moroccan house..usually with a court yard inside. It was meant for a family with with more than one wife in order for each wife to have her own privacy and no one could see their doings from the outside. That was the examination I got when I visited lol
Okay great, I personally could not verify any of what mentioned regarding it’s use for a family with multiple wives. A riad has been a thing since Roman times. For anyone interested, here’s what the wiki has to say: A riad (Arabic: رياض, romanized: riyāḑ; also spelled "riyad") is a type of traditional Moroccan and Andalusi interior garden or courtyard associated with house and palace architecture.[1] Its origin is generally attributed to Persian gardens that spread during the Islamic period. The term is nowadays often used in Morocco to refer to a hotel or guesthouse-style accommodation with shared common areas and private rooms, often within a restored traditional mansion.
Fatiemah Benjamin pardon me, ive edited that comment to remove anything that could have been interpreted as impolite. All I wanted to do was add some context and nuance.
@@TheKaurK a riad is just a traditional moroccan home that you would find in all the old médinas of morroco (imperial cities (rabat , marrakesh, Fez , meknes... Have the luxurious version and there's the kasbahs in the southern part ), it is a family home because the sons get married and stay there with their parents (PS: moroccan empires ruled Andalousia for 8 centuries that's why there's lot of moorish (moroccan ) architecture there and not the other way around
Goodness girl, if you were to embody a place it would be Marrakech! Everything design-wise is your style. You must love that place so much! Thanks for taking us along on your trip, it was very interesting. I know someone who travels often to Morocco, it's his favorite place to visit, but I've never seen it like you showed it! P.S. Would love to see those slippers in an aqua or seafoam color!
The Adhan (call to prayer) is profoundly beautiful just on my phone, can't imagine how moving it is in person. I encourage people of all religions to listen to it because it's in Arabic but you feel the passion of it without knowing the translation.
It will be interesting to watch how your slipper line expands in coming years. I can immediately imagine possibilities for the button on accessories; bells or holly leaves during Christmas season, or bows or diamanté brooches for more formal looks
Wow! I can really see Morocco influencing your style now! Beautiful!! Thank you for showing us all the things!! 😊❤ Love the story behind your Pom Pom slippers! Very special
I have always wanted to do this trip (but hesitant because I’m not sure how wheelchair-friendly it would be)… thank you so much for posting! I get to live vicariously through you ❤️❤️❤️
I've noticed that you incorporated moroccan elements quite often in your designs ! You should definetly explore cities other than marrakesh ( i feel like you would love Essaouira especially ) , Fez, Rabat, tangier , chefchaoen (the blue city)....
So fun to follow along on your trip! Morocco is one place I have always been inspired by too, and always wanted to go! I would LOVE to see a team AG makeover inspired by this riad 😍
I surfed in Morocco 🇲🇦 😎 for 2 weeks... The food, the beauty, the kindness, the dogs, the weather, the talented traditional crafter, the people. I shall be getting some pompom shoes once the link is up! .... and now I want to go again!!! Loved it! It's a vibe for sure!
I’m going to Marrakech in October 2024 and staying at a riad with a similar look. So excited! I also love Moroccan food, design, decor, and influence. Can’t wait!
Thanks for giving me early morning vicarious thrills by vacationing in my dream destination! Thanks for the riad tips. One day, I’ll get there and hope to have as much fun!
Alexandra - your channel has the best opportunity to do a where are they now series for us - everyone wants to see how the rooms get changed post makeover so they can be lived in. With so many team makeovers you could show us what no other channel can! Where are they now???
ever since I discovered you it's been all about pom poms (and polka dots)!!! Love your authenticity, your humility doing tiny studio apartments for REAL people. Please don't ever leave T.O. Much love and best wishes for continued success.
Riads are actually old merchants' homes, since a medina was a centre of trade. Normally one building would host a whole family, with many levels and a patio in the middle usually with a fountain, and tiled floors. Many of those riads are now converted into accommodation for tourists.
I am so happy that you like Morocco 🇲🇦, I am so proud to be Moroccan, I live in Florida and most of the people here don't know where's Morocco 🇲🇦, then again most of them are ignorant.
The slippers are so good. I will take a size 5/6 in green suede with two colors of pom-poms. OK. OK. I know you aren't ready for orders yet but squeeee....can't wait. OP...just got to end of video....well, yeeees of course terra cotta suede. Love it.
Hi Alexandra 🌸 - Looks like you had an amazing time in Marrakech, so happy that you took this holiday! Marrakech looks beautiful, I have never been but would like to visit there one day ✈️ Also, I wanted to say that you and the AG team are really amazing as people as well as for what you all do, I love the channel, and I appreciate all the hard work, time and effort that goes into the makeovers/projects, vlogs and creating content 💜 I hope everyone who was ill has recovered and that you are all doing well overall 🙏🏽 Stay safe and well 💖👑
I love your vlog. The riad looks absolutely stunning and I am super excited for the slippers. Always wondered where you got them from. Hope you also ship to Europe. 😍
I would loooovvvveeee a video on how the shop works! Like you just went to them and bought product or are they the ones making AND shipping them? And you are just showcasing it in your shop? I see you tubers make shops a lot these days and I’m so curious how that all works!
I never thought of it that way, but you’re right! You ARE deeply connected to Morocco’s style and decor. It’s so you!! I can’t wait to order those slippers. 🥰
Love the slippers and also the idea of the signature PomPoms - but - I imidiatelly thought it would be cool to have also some kind of leather patch option - maybe with you logo - to clasp on, if it was kind of a “not a Pompom day” ☺️☺️🤪 love your work 🤍
I so much enjoyed this video, so full of colour, pattern, style and beauty... it really added such a burst of joy in my heart. Thank you for sharing 🤗😘
So eeexcittted to get those shoes!! I agree with @Cheryk Reynolds that is so awesome that you are giving that awesome family an opportunity to share those beautiful shoes with the world!!
If you plan on going inland like in Marrakech (away from the Atlantic coast), better to go during the Spring or Fall seasons. July and August can definitely be very hot! Hope you get to enjoy beautiful Morocco soon!
Congrats on the slippers! I personally don’t like pointy shoes but they really cute and smart! Every time I go anywhere or do anything whenever I see Pom Pom decor I wonder if Alexandra would like it and my friend’s say…who’s Alexandra…lol. Glad you had a nice trip!

Everyone copies in fashion, by her showing the samples someone will copy her design.

Marrakech is a dream. Thank you.
Welcome to our country! Hope you enjoyed your time heree!!
