This is our monthly collaboration between Graig @MidLifeCards and I! We talk about our collecting status and strategy at mid year. We hope you enjoy!
I’m still listening! Great mid-year check point! I hope you guys get your Jackie and Yogi in CLE, And I love that Darren is buying off-list cards to keep us viewers entertained!! This is my kind of channel!
I love to hear this team talk about "Lists".🤣🤣 I haven't looked at mine since Strongsville. GREAT LIST Darren!. Full disclose: Not sure it saved me many hobby doll hairs since!!!😁
I enjoy the content guys first of all! I myself think once a year you get one big card ( for your budget) , then you can revel in the success. The rest of the year can be spent gathinging lesser desired items being content. There is also the thought to make a little profit to splurge a little also!
Love it, fellas. I don't care if you stay on topic ir not. I just live listening to you guys talk about baseball cards! This ties in perfectly with some of my recent conversations. Lists, and do I buy 4 cards at 500 a piece, or do I buy 1 card for 2,000. Enjoyed, fellas!
Best one yet! Great cards, great ideas. I collect very similar to both of you. However, I can’t compete with your calibre of collecting Darren. My budget is more similar to Graig’s .
I don't have a specific list, but i have been collecting redman, post and jello, and 59, fleer Williams set. Recent pick ups, jello kaline, f robinson, ashburn, drysdale, mathews,. Redman Reese, Keller, mize, lemon.
My list keeps growing. I was recently invited to an Ozzie Smith collector group. I’ve learned of more cards that I didn’t know existed. Of course my list of probably never own has grown too.
Thanks for watching Jon! Its always great to learn about new cards for the players that you collect! I agree, its rough when those new cards are on the "never own" list.
What I love about this is it just shows the reality that most all collectors are dealing with when there are certain cards we would really like target, but … squirrel! Got it! Another squirrel! Got that one too!! Oh! Squirrel! 🤣🤣🤣
At the beginning of the year I copied both of yalls idea of the 3 tier system. Currently have 6 of the 15 and hopefully getting my second top tier card later this month. Keep up the great work!
Over the years going to the National the only lists I had was the sets I was putting together. Otherwise I bought what grabbed me and got me excited. I had cards in mind but many times just picked up something else. There are so many unique items out there that are not cards. Since I am retired these days I scroll the many auctions and if something grabs me and affordable I bid. When your collection with cards is more complete you will turn to other items, like memorabilia, game used, photos, pins etc. Its a great hobby.
Off topic or off the list? I think it was interesting to hear Darren so, no list next year or a list of 50, it seems like the 12 cards for 12 months was helpful this year, so that’s why it’s surprising. The 52 Jackie would be an awesome pickup this year, but don’t settle Darren, find the one you love! Graig, if you don’t get the Banks this year, I’m gonna scream! This is like Pam and Jim in the office, constantly flirting with each other but no pay off!
Darren, not only your daughter collects; but your wife does, too? Finding a woman that shares that kind of passion, or even open to your collecting is like, finding a unicorn. You're killing it, though when it comes to cards, you've been picking up this year. The National is basically the Super Bowl of card shows; whether you and Graig end up buying from your lists, or going, in a completely different unplanned direction. I am sure you'll have a fun time . Hope you liked my questions for the next Q&A episode. Thanks Darren.
Like #24 Barry Bonds in the house, Willie Mays or Ken Griffey Jr.!...lol Stuck around for the whole thing guys, even through all the boring lists with cards I will never most likely be able to afford and that will also most likely get shuffled a few more times until they are completed 😂😂 Love the bromance between the two of you and it is great to connect with people. Real friendships are so hard to come by. I get in to the same habit as you Graig or is it Criag 😂 I will set my sites on a goal card of mine and then buy enough $50 to $100 cards that also caught my eye and it kind of sucks being so unfocused at times, but I love so many cards and so many players from all 4 major sports and I went down the WWE rabbit hole a few years ago with my two sons as well....lol Anyways, in all honesty, I love watching both of your channels and continue my support of your channels and all list whether 5 cards or 100....lol Have a wonderful day boys 👍👍 and ✌out my fellow collectors
@@returntocollecting I agree, cards are just materialistic things as much as we all love them. You can't put a price on a friendship and love that about this community. Hope that someday I can finally get some content on here as well, but until then I will continue enjoying this community from afar. Have a great day Darren and good luck on your quest, you and Graig both have great collections. 👍

Great conversation, thanks for sharing
Thanks Orlando! Thanks for watching!
You guys are creative and imaginative!!! Awesome!
Thank you James! Glad you enjoyed!
Gave a video like. Always enjoy these. Great conversation
Thanks Brian! Glad you enjoyed!
Well done my friend 🎉
Thanks Ken!
I love to hear this team talk about "Lists".🤣🤣 I haven't looked at mine since Strongsville. GREAT LIST Darren!.
Full disclose: Not sure it saved me many hobby doll hairs since!!!😁
100% agree Mike! Lists make decisions easier, but don't necessarily make the hobby cheaper!!
I listened to it all! That is how you actually LEARN! Be a good listener and LEARN from the experts!!!
Thanks James! We really appreciate that!!
Listened to the end! Great talk guys. Just like a talk over a beer about cards. Good luck in your quests!
Thanks Brian! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for listening to the end!!
I’m liking the 50 card list idea. Stealing it and running with it for next year. Thanks guys!
Thanks Scott! I just created my 50 card list. I'm sure I'll modify it at least 10 times in the next month...
Long time lurker of both channels. I always listen til the end.
Thanks Brian! We really appreciate your support!
Great topic. Applied to all collectors
Thanks Brad! Glad you enjoyed!
great video guys. I just won one of darren's 3rd tier goal. the 33 goudey hack wilson. should be here in a week.
That's awesome Ray! Congratulations!! Awesome pickup!

Great conversation guys. Darren’s list sounds like mine, always moving and shifting. My list changes daily lol.
Ha! Thanks Jason! Love the moving target!
GR8 SHOW + THAT SPAHN LEAF CARD IS SPECIAL =GR8 GRAB
Thanks! Graig picked up a huge card with the Leaf Spahn!
I had a blast, Darren. I’m so glad we’ve become friends.
Thanks Graig! Me too! Its my favorite video to make each month!

That's awesome! Keep up the great progress!! Congrats!
Just for the record I stayed till the end.
Great discussion overall though. Really enjoyed it
Thanks Drew! Glad you enjoyed!
Sweet discussion guys. 👌
Thanks Cloudsey!
Loved hearing your list updates. My main list is about 1,000 cards. Ive picked up 69 cards this year. Just pluggin away. One common at a time.
Nice job!
@@BringingTheHeat-VBC I bet I have the cheapest card in Graigs next monthly show and tell.
Thanks Robert! Good luck with your pickups!

good points, as per usual.
@@BringingTheHeat-VBC Thanks!
I 100% agree Larry! Its always fun to manage our strategy!
2 of your 3rd tier are national targets of mine! Less competition in Cleveland!
Yes sir! Good luck with your national pickups!
Great chat. Loved the list discussion, but lists assume interests and priorities don’t change ….. and they always do.
Good point.
Thanks! I 100% agree! I need a broader list!

Maybe if you tell Graig, not to buy the Banks this year, he will do the opposite. 😉
Thanks Theo! I need to plan for the second half of the year... Hoping to get the 52T Jackie at the national!!

Thanks Andrew! I agree, I'm a lucky guy! Looking forward to the National!! Thanks for the questions for next Q&A! Really appreciate your support!
@@returntocollecting You got it. Great pick up again with the Clemente SGC 7 1971 Topps.
Graig, did you see the Cobb 1.5 that recently closed in Goldin? Hard to find a flaw, perfectly centered, and it went super cheap!

What I learned from this : never have children and buy more cards. I can do that
never a bad strategy. 😜
