- In one of our June episodes of "Off Topic," we have a special guest: @rayfromphilly6969 . In this conversation, we discuss the Baseball Card Hall of Fame and building an epic sports card collection. Ray has an outstanding collection and we discuss the evolution of his collection and what cards he's currently collecting. In addition, we have a long conversation about the RUclips Baseball Card Hall Of Fame. We discuss the cards that got in, just missed, and will no longer be on the ballot. Additionally, we discuss the questions that remain heading into next year.

Thanks guys for having me on. I would do this every week with you guys. thank you
Likewise, Ray. I loved having you on again. So much fun!!
I really have enjoyed this BB card HOF season -- it's has been fun and added another platform to enjoy the hobby & see cards I never would have. Kudos to Ray for his dedication.
Agreed. He puts in a TON of work.
Great video! No complaints on length of video from me. I enjoy the conversation and the three of you are great!
Thanks so much!!
Hey Graig... the links to Ray and Darren's Channels are not working for me. I keep getting an error message... might be worth double-checking? The 4 Collectors link worked fine. Thanks
Ugh. Sorry.
@@MidLifeCards Hey, they're working now! I guess that either somebody fixed it or perhaps it was a RUclips issue. All good!
Great show guys! Ray that 2nd yr schmidt for your pic was one of the 1st vintage cards I picked up when I started collecting vintage
Ray is terrific.
Next year for me should be 90 leaf Frank Thomas, 68 Seaver, 65 Carlton, 68 Clemente 3D, which I wasn't aware of until a couple years ago, but man would I have lusted after that card in 1986. When I was 7.
The 65 Carlton imo is the best looking multi player rookie ever.
Those are some great choices.
Great conversation guys, truly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for listening Orlando.
Fell asleep only twice. Do not give me a quiz. Truthfully always love listening to you and Darren and Ray is great.
LOL. Old guys fall asleep easily. :-)
Super fun guys! Thanks for joining us Ray!!
Agreed!!
So many nice cards to collect it sometimes seems so overwhelming want them all just not reality thanks for all you guys knowledge great show
I definitely want more stuff than I could ever accumulate.
'65 Tony Perez Rookie Card for BB Card HOF!
I think it eventually makes the ballot.
@@MidLifeCards Really?? I was "wishful thinking" and pretty "tongue in cheek", as it's my personal favorite rookie card. But did not know it carried that level of notoriety. Thanks!
Gave a video like. Really enjoyed listening to the great discussion
Thanks so much. We had a fun time.
As a Hornsby collector the 33 Goudey fielding is the iconic card i remember from my childhood. I dont own one, but that is only because they are always available somewhere. Someday ill stumble across the right one and pull the trigger. Ted Williams leaf has to go in, and as much as i get tired of hearing about mantle, the red hearts is a great card. Id like to nominate the 36 World Wide Gum Dizzy Dean. Its not a card on many peoples radar because of it's scarcity, but it looks just as great or even more so than the DiMaggio
I was lucky to pick up the Hornsby fielding card at Strongsville
@@MidLifeCards I know, I was happy to see it, you got a nice one.
I think the 68 Seaver is more "iconic" and recognizable in the hobby than the 67 - the big trophy, which naturally has "eye appeal' and the fact that it is more readily available and affordable is important.
In the 70's and 80's you could go into any LCS and see the 68 Seaver in a showcase front and center - the 67 was much harder to come by, it is out of most people budget and then, being a combo card, it tends to blend in with the other cards.
There is something special about the 68 Seaver. I agree.
Hornsby and Dean suffer from being Cardinals when it comes to the vote.
LOL. And they're a legendary franchise!!
Good stuff, like to hear others collection journeys. You making it to the National?
I'll be there. Ray and Darren will be there, too!!
Would love to see Juan Marichal somewhere in the HOF!
He was voted in the Hall of Fame in 1983
He's in!! And, he's still alive and signing through the mail autographs.
No one else likes it but not sure if it is in but Mariano Rivera 92 bowman for the hall. I love that card kinda makes me think of the show miami vice
It's a unique card, for sure.
Do you think people opening packs in 1975 saw those crazy colors and said WTF. Now we look back and say theyre so 70's.
Fair point!!
Does anyone collect Fred Dryer cards?
I don't. Sorry.
may be cheaper to get non hall of famers. Way too many HOFer's
Certainly cheaper.
OMG !!! i see this video is 1 hour and 34 minutes long… cannot even fathom listerning to the long a video… droppped out quick…. enjoy many of ur videos tho.. but not ones this LONG !!!!!!!!
