Questions, Opinions, & More!! MidLife's "Short Winded" Episode 2 With

- I love talking about Baseball Cards. I love it so much, that sometimes I struggle to keep it brief. I get excited and want to share my thoughts and opinions, and that results in some videos that can run on for quite a while. As a result, I've decided to continue my effort to be more "short winded" in this bi-monthly episode. I host guests who ask me twenty questions, and I only have 5 minutes to answer. Starting with this episode, I have 5 questions for my guest, as well. This week's guest, @iconic_baseball has some terrific questions and we have an absolute blast talking about baseball cards. We discuss players like Josh Gibson, Jackie Robinson, and Babe Ruth...and, the hobby itself. I hope you enjoy the episode, and I'd encourage you to check out AL's channel, if you're not already a subscriber.

Thanks so much for having me Graig - this was a blast!
Absolutely my pleasure!!
The two best content creators on RUclips. Outstanding questions and a great opportunity to get to know two extremely knowledgeable collectors a little better!!
That means a lot. Thanks so much.
Al was a great guest.... seems like a super nice guy. Will check out his videos for sure!
AL is GREAT. Definitely subscribe to his channel.
Good stuff. I find myself answering the questions while i listen to you answer them. Fun.
That's great!! Playing along is part of the fun!!
Outstanding episode and conversation. One of my all time favorites 👊🤙🤙
Thanks Dylan. AL is a lot of fun!!
"It's my show, so I can cheat" Gotta love ❤ it !! LOL 😂
Great episode, gentlemen .
LOL!! Thanks, my friend.
Really enjoyed the race against the clock! Excellent questions…the Banks one at the end made Graig sweat
It was a super tough question.
Iconic Al's questions were great and your answers actually short, but the video not per usual which is not a criticism but expected. Always look forward to them. Sounds like Al lives in Denver, a shame I never met him and Darren all the years I lived there.
I know!! They're great guys that hang out during the Denver card shows.
A true collector isn’t concerned about value attributed by others. Finding the cards or items that resinate with you is the key. No one wants to overpay or buy at the peak price. Buy what you love!!!
Thanks for your videos!!!!!
Well said.
Genuine LOLOLOL at the bonus time hahahaaha “It’s my show, so I’m gonna cheat”
LOL. It's what I do...make things up as I go.
Well, this is like a living breathing “manager’s dream” combo card for this commenter. I knew this was coming and was excited…. but you guys exceeded my expectations! Great questions, great answers and great freaking fun. Well done fellas!!!
Thanks Mook. You're the best.
You never disappoint Graig! Thanks for all your amazing videos!
I appreciate that!
Always enjoy your videos Graig. Al has such an awesome channel too. Great Q & A. Like others, I try to think about how I would answer & realize some questions are really hard to give short answers. You do a fantastic job for sure.
Thanks so much. That means a lot.
Great video and Iconic Al is awesome. I really enjoyed watching his MLB G.O.A.T. Position Video as well. It is always nice to see new people in the Sports Card Community. First time I have seen Al and I was very impressed.
Subscribe to his channel. It's great.
5 minutes SQUEEZED into 36! How’d you do it? Lol! I love it. Love the back and forth questions for sure
I know. I can't help myself.
Great episode! Al has an awesome channel and a great collection.
I totally agree, Jason!!
Fantastic 36 minute “Short Winded” video! 😂😂😂. I LOVED it!!
LOL. I know, right!?!
Graig, I loved your video. It was fun seeing your discussion with my son ‘Iconic Al’. I collected Barry Bonds cards exclusively for 35 years. During that time, I collected over 9,500 different Bonds pieces. I was a completist and collected cards mostly as a challenge. Little did I realize the unexpected controversy which would arise regarding the PEDs which Bonds was obviously using later in his career. Although Barry Bonds will never get into the MLB HOF, most knowledgeable collectors know how great a player he was. This is reflected by the high prices of his premium cards. I enjoyed collecting cards with my boys and am proud of them for carrying on their love of the game.
Jeff Mazur
Thanks so much for leaving this message. You're boys are great. I had a terrific time with AL when we recorded this. He's a great guy and is extremely hard working!! You should be proud of him.
Another great show as always.
Thanks so much. We had a lot of fun.
Super great thought-provoking video. Love the rapid fire format. Thanks Graig and Al.
Thanks for listening/watching!! AL is a great guy.
Gave a video like. Enjoyed hearing the answers
Thanks so much.
Really enjoyed this one, keep them coming!
Thanks so much!!
Enjoyed getting to know the other creators! Good addition, though not exactly short winded 😊
Definitely not short winded, but I'm trying!!
Enjoy these segments! Al had some great questions and it is fun to watch you answer with a timer.
Thanks, my friend.
Hate to see when you throw short winded out the window…😂😂great conversation
LOL. Thanks Lou. You had some really awesome pickups recently. Love that Judge card.
Loved it!! 2 of my favorite guys! I'm jealous of Al's ability to stick to his collecting strategy!! Great Q&A on both sides! Really enjoyed it. The bonus short winded time was great.
AL is a model of how I WANT to collect. But, he has self control.
I always enjoy My pal Al! He's one of the good ones.
Agreed. He's a good dude.
This was awesome! I love iconic Alan! Graig awesome job but you have a long way to go before you get to the Clint Eastwood school of brevity level! 😂 P.S. Me too! 😊👊
I know. I can't restrain myself.
Awesome episode, great content, Al is a great guy!
He's a GREAT guy.
If you only ultimately want 100 cards in your collection, assuming you currently own more than 110 cards, why aren't you actively selling more than 10? Once you acquire your ultimate 100 cards, why would you seek to upgrade them? For potential future monetary gain? If so, why not just put that money in the stock market or in other investments?
That's an interesting question. I'm going to think about that....
Al had some…..ICONIC questions!!
I agree. He did a great job.
Hey Graig, I may have missed it but did you ever show your home set up for making videos? I have been kicking around the idea of joining the RUclips community but don't know what is a need vs overkill unnecessary equipment. Thanks
I've not shown my setup, because I don't have anything. I use my phone, and a small tripod. That's it. Everything else is natural lighting and stuff.
@@MidLifeCards good to know. I didn’t realize that our phones can make videos look that nice. Thanks!
@@TheDadsAreHere And I use iMovie as my video editing software.
Graig, I’m confused as you said in this video the Josh Gibson card looked great in that Beckett slab. Yet when i mentioned a few weeks ago in your comment section you don’t even acknowledge Beckett slabs in your videos anymore, you essentially said the brand is dying. You said you’ve talked to dealers at shows who want even touch Beckett slabs anymore?
Fair point. I can try to explain... Personally (and what I've heard from others) is that VINTAGE cards don't sell well or look as good, in Beckett slabs. As a mostly vintage collector, I prefer PSA and SGC as the slabs I buy, as does the bulk of vintage collectors. I DO think modern cards, especially relics cards, look great in Beckett holders. That's just my personal opinion, however.
Graig I thought you were against anything Beckett these days. Now I am even more confused….your comments are not wholly consistent.
I appreciate the feedback. Here's a response to a similar question I received: I can try to explain...
I think it Could be Curt Flood if he finally gets in for his contribution to baseball and current i agree with Betts
Curt Flood should be in the baseball HOF. Whether they (the MLB) want to acknowledge him though, however is another story.
@@ACD1994 amen Andrew...They always say that it should be for contributions to the game...Ohtani is not making 700 Million without Curt Flood standing up....the Same with Tommy John...pitchers are coming back and having HOF careers because of this surgery....pit him in too....
@@AdamJUlrey I think Tommy John and the Dr. Frank Jobe, who conducted the surgery should be in as well
Andrew you are the man
@@AdamJUlrey I don't know about that lol. But thank you for your kind words
There is no way to finish in 5 minutes when the person asking the questions isn’t quick and feels the need to make even the smallest of comments or acknowledgements after your answer. Look alone at the 30 second bonus round, it took him 12 seconds to get the first question out. The very least you should do is like Family Feud where you don’t start the clock until after the first question is read.
Also, if you didn’t know already, there are many more Megan cards available for GPK. Pagan Megan, Mechanical Megan, Melted Megan, Medalling Megan, Meg-a-Volt and probably others I’m forgetting.
It's certainly tough to finish in 5 minutes. But, it's all for fun.
Ernie in a 2. Signed or not.
I could see that.
CHEATER!!! And I think you owe me 5 questions now. 😉
LOL. I know. You're right!!
I am glad, you asked Al questions. He is a good guy, and has a great channel. The research and time, he puts into his videos, is top notch imo. Probably should have thousands of subs... I would take the Banks. In a ''5.'' But, speaking of autographs...still waiting on the top 10 best autographs though, so Al when you see this. It's your initiative, to get it going!
I totally agree about AL. His channel is outstanding.
