I wish it was like Ollivanders (wand shop in Harry Potter) where as soon as you enter the store, the right racket flies towards you.
That’d be nice

Came for racket opinion, left with great relationship advice XD
Came to hear about rackets, left questioning my dating habits?!!?

I so wish I could visit this guys shop. Id be like a kid in a candy store...

Just recently found your channel and I’ve been binge watching your videos. Great job!
Very well said Harry. I have clients come into my pro shop and usually it takes them at least 4 different demo frames to find what’s best for them. If they are a beginner or coming back from a long break from tennis I tend to give them big head size racquets 100+ that are on the light side and thicker beam.
Please do a vid on string basics...for an intermediate.
Excellent advice, especially for players returning to the game after many years. With rare exceptions, best to avoid “baby got back”! 👍
Hopefully most players get such sound advice and service like yours when buying new equipment. This reflects knowledge and long experience of being in racket retail, as well as being a player yourself. Always start back with a tweener stick and go from there.
I went through exactly what you described when coming back to the game in 2015, after a 15 year layoff due to family and work commitments. Previously used Yonex R10 (80s) and Head PT630 (90s). Thought I would demo some “new tech” and the shop gave me a Head TiS2 to try out. I thought, “Wow! This stick is amazing! Effortless power and so easy to use; keeper!”. Bought the stick in my first week back. At this point, I thought the PT630 was a relic from the past - too heavy, slow thru the ball and hard to manoeuvre
3 months of regular play later, shots with the TiS2 were sailing into the back fence and I found myself having to consciously shorten my swing and hold back on my release through the ball. So broke out the PT630, and this time, it felt like the perfect fit once again. As you indeed described, the serve took the longest to come back with the heavy stick.
Now if only I had had such good advice as in your video from my local racket shop back in 2015! The TiS2 is now somewhere in the back of my store room and I’m hiding it from my kids who are learning the game. Granny sticks are exactly that!
11:30 answered a huge question, thank you. I just got a Pure Drive and 90% of my serves were a foot long... but everything else was decent.
Thanks for being here. Great advice. Happy Thanksgiving!
Great tips. It really helps to find a shop that knows what it sells. Strings also make a huge difference when demo racquets. I try to take demos that has similar strings I normally use and maybe even two but at different tensions.
My shop told me the racket manufacturers are forcing them to string with their strings. And they usually go for the middle tension.
For better players it’s worth paying them to use your string and at your tension.
I played, back in the day, with a prostaff from 1995. Started playing again ,after 20 years, in 2018. What a board! Got a pure drive and its way better imo.
It was love at first sight with my Volkl organix V1 pro. We still going strong after all these years!
Absolutely right. Every time picking up a new racquet, the serve become worse. For me only three exceptions, the PD, the PA and the DR100. I felt everything on track with these racquets :)
Great video and good advice. Its a pity we don't live in the same city (or even country) you do! If we did you would be our preferred tennis shop by far!!!
Love the video's. Keep up the passion for the game! The ezone 98+ is out! Woo hoo! PS - Love the T-Shirt... but Go Gaels!
Great reasoning and explanation, thx...

I've never heard "baby got back" referenced in a tennis video before. Haha. Baby got back court, by Sir Mixed Doubles A lot!
Literally posted this as I received a demo package yesterday lol

Great information I love this video
I had the Head Ti S6 when i first started playing great racket!!
I have one now and I feel like if I put any real effort into my swing I'm gonna knock everything out of the park. Way too much power for me personally but super fun to play up close to the net just smashing every ball
Thanks for this, fun video
I still cary a couple of Yonex RDS 001's in my bag in a great shape. Stringing with either Technifibre NRG2 or X-Biphase twice a year. Still going strong.
This is one of my fav videos on your channel. Well done. So much advice and guidance.
I played for 10+ years in high-school and college and haven't played in 20 years. Going to start again because of my kid (like you said in the video). I used to play with the Pro Staff 5.5si, but didn't really have an opp to try a lot of different rackets back then. I am probably a 3 - 3.5 and play much more control and placement than power. Slice bh, volleys, down the line, drop shots, etc. that was my game more than base line power shots. Is there a racket that immediately comes to mind that i should try?
Thinking I'll demo as many rackets as I can using your recos from the video. Thank you so much!
I'm just getting into tennis and just bought a Wilson hammer. Start lessons on Monday and the instructor already told me I shouldn't have gotten it. I took it as trying to up sell me but she is probably right
Amazing video again... And advice is "more practice, less watching and thinking about new lines and colours racquets"...
Awesome content! Ive been watching all of your videos. Could you compare the Yonex VCore 98 to the Wilson Blade v7 16x19 and Babolat Pure Strike 16x19?
Love this video. I played the Kennex Graphite destiny. I’m searching for the modern replacement.
My first real racquet was a TiS6. I could hit 120 mph serves in 8th grade with that thing, but I couldn’t put away a volley.
Good point!
"baby got back" lmao
I would like to see you do a video actually hitting tennis balls and what that process looks like to demo a racket. Love your channel.
great video !!
loved your concepts!!! where did Volkl racquets ended up with their classic feel and their punctual sweetspot???
I like the Wilson Blade/Head Gravity demo I used about 10 days ago. The Gravity played like a light, more open pattern pro staff. It had great spin, control and was arm friendly.
🤔LOL, racquet demo like dating, so, I asked her pro, will she be good for me? I took her home, went to a local park and went medieval for 3 sets. I fell in love and put a ring dampener on it. Now I am hen pecked and have a honey dew list of 3 sets every other day. I like my life and love my racquet.😆
I always just tell people to pick three different weights. Something light, around 11 ounces. Something light, but even balance (or close) like 11 ounces, even balance, and one that's heavier, but head light (like 11.5 ounces, 7 points head light). From there, you'll know if you like to hit with racket head speed or the weight of the racket. Then maybe you can demo a few at that weight point at different stiffness.
If it's worth doing, could you share your thoughts on the Tecnifibre TF40 305? I really like this racquet but I would like to know what you think when comparing it to other plush feeling racquets like the Wilson Blade v7 18x20 and maybe even Pure Strike 18x20. there are not many reviews on this racquet so it's hard to have a grasp of its strengths and weaknesses.
some background info, i transitioned from PS97 because i was still having elbow problems despite using the softest poly strings... however, i had a hard time getting used to the 18x20 string pattern of the tf40 because i couldn't generate spin as easily and had to change my groundstroke a bit. As i was still worried about my elbow, i strung it up with the Volkl Cyclone Tour 18 on low tension (47lbs), I really feel dialed in now and the arm problems are gone, so i really love using this racquet that's a mix of classic and modern style.
Nice info can you review the Head Graphene 360 Instinct Lite thanks
Loved the bear claws you made when you said measuring their grip size. Grrrrr!!!! Hahahahaha
Baby Got Back vs Slim Shady....👍
I would never pick the granny stick no matter how out of practice I am
Also best to hide overpowered granny sticks from kids learning the game. Best for them to use something appropriate that encourages solid footwork and core stability, proper strokes with good racket head speed.
how about a vid about the wide body rackets of the early 90s. I ask that because i broke my racket, borrowed one and was best i ever played. not to mention the 70 year old i was played uses one and whipped me. Felt solid
Can you compare the wilson blade and wilson clash in terms of best for tennis elbow
I'm still trying to "grow" into the relationship with my RF97 Autograph...Obviously I'll never be worthy of it, but I will keep trying. Unrequited love is a bitch 😔
what's your playstyle? and what issues are you having with it. the RF is my main racquet and I'd love to help. (although i too am still trying to be worthy of it)
Lmao same with my vcore 95, I already know I’m not gonna be a pro might as well not be a pro with a racquet I think is badass
I played 10 years ago with a k six-one 95 And I bought another one a few weeks ago, think it’s a little too heavy for me now after a few hitting sessions, what would you recommend
How about you do an episode on the evolution of a racket franchise? Wilson Pro Staff, Head Radical, Yonex ... comparing pros & cons and witch is the best.
All the best.
Can you do a review on the Wilson Blade 100L V7 and compare it to the 98 16x19?
Awesome channel, really appreciate you sharing this here. I played with prestige mp for 15 years. Then switched to blade 98 18/20 last year just to get something lighter since my overall shape decreased over the years and my ball didn’t go anywhere anymore. Now I would like to get even more power so I dropped my tension to 43 from 50 (playing with polyester and plan to stick with it). I hate the stiffness on power rackets like pure drive, the feeling is just awful for me personally. What do you recommend for even more power? Maybe put some lead at the tip and counterbalance it in the handle on blade or try something else that has similar feeling but gives more power. Great content, keep it up.
Great videos, thanx! I play the Babolat Pure Drive (300 grams) and I feel great control and manoevrabiliy, but decent power . When I change to the Babolate pure strike 100 once in a while, I experience more power but less control ans manoevrability. Can you recommend a racket that combines the advantages of those two rackets? Many thanks!
What's the name of your store and where is it in the US? I'm from the UK but would be good to flag up your business as a go to for sales and to recommend to friends if they visit the States 👍
wondering if you guys can help? i string racquets but yet to string with gut, so picked some up for a regular customer. he wants it in a hybrid and i have heard that its not good to leave a 1/2 set of open gut lying around for to long. is this true?
*customer walks in to demo racquet*
“Basically it’s like dating” lol thank you my RUclips tennis expert and relationship guru
So a racquet is going to ghost me... great lol
I just started back after 13 years away from the game and went straight to the slim shady - I was looking for a Volkl C10 Pro but the shop didn’t keep them in stock... so I went with the RF97 Autograph and have had three weeks of fun.
How are you finding it? Not too heavy? What level are you?.
Andrew Winters it is heavy, but I’ve always played with heavier frames. My level, I used to be around a 4 - 4.5 - three weeks ago I was back at a 1, but this week (after hitting with a buddy about 7 times) I’m probably edging back into a 3. I used Gamma Synthetic Gut 16 at 55lbs - feels great. I just picked up another frame and I’ll try another string/tension combo. Good luck on your racquet search!
@@BenjaminLoving thanks for the reply Ben. Yeah ive used the head radical tour since I was 16 so a heavier racquet is all I know. I did demo the rf97 but did only about 20 seconds and I hit the best backhand of my life (my backhand sucks) but may have been a fluke. I'm keen for another longer play test. Cheers
That's a tough frame to begin with...you must have very good fundamentals.👍
This is also sharp advice on dating
I feel demoing racquets is a bit of a waste unless you get it freshly strung with your preferred string.
Enjoy your video's. What string at what tension would you recommend for Wilson Clash Tour for maximum power please?
48 lb for both power and comfort.
I play with a vintage Yonex r7, what other raquet comes close to feel and power? I hit flat
Please review tecnifibre tflash 300.
Cool I like head radical
babolat pure aero team seem the perfect racquet to start with
How can you tell if you like the racquet or just like the strings in the racquet?
Hey just got my clash strung with tourbite at 48 lbs...I like the crisp feel and surprisingly the pop I got from it!!! I just hope I don’t wreck my arm/shoulder
Got my 95D strung at 37lb with lead tap at 3 n 9, it's amazing

hey, what strings do you put in your demos?
What advice would you give to someone who has been playing tennis for a while and is trying new racquets? I was given a ProStaff 90 in about 2007, been playing with Prostaff 90s (ncode & k-factor) ever since. Yesterday I fell in love with the Yonex Ezone 98 305g (2018), which is almost the polar opposite in terms of racquet.
The racquet was much easier to swing, much more forgiving, but I really had to adapt my style to play with the racquet. My arm loved the vibration dampening, I didn't have any arm pain after playing with the racquet to my surprise. Spin is absolutely sick on Ezone. My only concern is that balls would fly a bit long if I didn't put extra topspin on the ball. I couldn't chip and block as well with the Ezone. Any advice for us who have been playing a certain style that fits a certain type of frame and want to switch to something radically different? What do we need to look out for and is this a case of the "honeymoon" period with a new racquet?
I am 5'8" (173cm) and 147lbs (67.2kg). I have tried the Vcore 310, Vcore HD, TF40, PS 97L, RF97A, SX 200 Tour, none of which stood out to me in the past. Happy for other racquet recommendations or suggestions.
Honestly, if you like the Ezone 98, I'd wait and demo the new Ezone 98 Tour coming out in like a week. It's like the 305 you liked, but with more weight and supposedly lower flex although there are conflicting reports of this. That extra weight should help you chip and block as it will be similar to a ProStaff in that regard. However, as ProStaffs are usually stiff and heavy I'm a little surprised you like the Ezone, but disliked the VCore HD that plays somewhat similar which is why I hesitate to offer any suggestions. Did you try the newest HD (emerald green) or the older one? Good luck.
Baby got back vs. slim shady. Nice! lol
A blue ti s6 only seen black and grey
looking for a new racquet, i need you
How do you know if a racket has too much power or not enough power for you?
Too much power, you are hitting the ball long our of bounds
Too little power, your shots are fallinf short into the service box.
Of course it also depends on your swing mechanic and string type/tension
115 sq inch... jeez they don’t even have to move
What do you think of VOLKL rackets vs the WILSON CLASH as arm friendly rackets ! greetings and thanks for the great info on equipment ...
Pro staff 97 review plsssss
What is your store called
where is the store?
4:21 Why do you only allow 2 rackets?
I have a 100 clash, 48 Pounds and I need more power, I feel that I rarely manage to hit the ball hard. What do you recommend me? Go down the pounds or change the racket?
The quick fix would b what u said...bring string tension down. Fyi, the recommended tension for Clash 100 is between 44-48 lbs. Another option would b to add lead tape to the head. The expensive solution would b to buy another racket. I think Clash Tour/Pro weighs in at 310g. Compare to Clash 100 at 295g.
One question I play with Yonex VCORE 100 and I love it but I feel it’s too stiff it hurts my arm
Same here, struggle to find another good racquet.
Yonex have a totally different feel from other requests. They are very popular in Asia/Australia and players who grow up with Yonex stay with it. I find them stiff and tough to control. I use Dunlop as they feel good on my elbow, but they have so many models you could fill a shop with Dunlop alone. Look for the stiffness rating below 70 and not too heavy, but not too light either unless you are a small person.
First person to watch let’s go
let's go
I usually buy because of the colour. I don't like yellow, so Aero's first to be eliminated, along with Head extreme and Volkl C10 pro.
Now black racquets usually look understated and a rather stealthy weapon, so they get moved to the top of lists.
Very hard to play when you're not happy with the colour of your stick. That's mere psychology 101.
Feel, power etc pales into insignificance when compared to the paint job.
Starting (re-starting rather) adult? . like I am
Get a used Head Ti s6 off ebay.....Huge sweet spot and U can get swinging for 40 bucks
wow... I didnt watch the vid and he confirms at 2.06
your store location please
No demo system where I live in europe. Just bought Prince 100X 305 to try it out and it's the best racket I have played with, up til now.
After playing with Prince 93P for a year, I tried, Head Gravity Pro, Yonex 97 HD.
The Prince 100X was well balanced, with good spin, good power and low stiffness.
I think if someone hasn't played in 15 years...they probably would hate most of today's racquets.
I hadn't played in 23 years why you say that about new racquets, I brought new racquet but feels to bulky and heavy on head and my old 340 gm prince feels better balanced
Andy V I recommend the yonex ezone 98
@@Dubinski2382 thanks I wanted to try that out just got to go out of town to try out, my head instinct mp feels to large and heavy on head and slow to serve fast
@@andyv6299 Try Clash 98 or Prince new 97P, Soft & Head light.
I returned to tennis after 20 years. I bought a Clash tour 100 because I'm not the player I used to be. Two friends also returning to tennia after the same absence did not buy new racquets. They both now have arm problems. Technology has come a long way.
Which Head raquet (the one with the thin beam) are holding? You had a Wilson in your other hand.
The red/navy blue looks like the Head Radical MP which is like 10.7 oz and 21 or so. If you're talking about the one in the start and end that is like weirdish red and teal, it looks like my Head Gravity Pro. 12 ounces, 20 inch beam or so, 18x20, very flexible racquet. Basically the opposite of the blue "Baby got Back" haha with the thinnest beam Head makes if that's what you're looking for when you say thin beam. Gravity is nice and plush and Radical is much stiffer imo.
@@sasukesarutobi8431 I am playing an old Head iprestige. Prior to playing with that raquet, I was playing with a pure drive. I liked it but is was too stiff, the beam was too chunky and it felt heavy. As a result, I never thought that I could play with a raquet that weighed over 11 ounces strung. What freaked me out is I love the weight and fell of the head but it's right at 12 oz strung SMH. I guess it must be the flex in the raquet that makes the difference.
@@fenderjazz5710 Ahh yes you are a man after my own heart. As a junior I played with the Head prestige 600 until the local sponsor became Babolat and I also got stuck with a Pure Drive strung up crazy high tension with a poly. It was chunky and gross through the air like you said (especially as mine was extended), but I think the Gravity Pro might be a great demo for you. Will feel a ton like your old prestige but with a bigger head as I am not sure I could still play with the old 90 inch prestige and cuts through the air fairly well. If you don't like the 12 oz weight the Gravity Tour is a fair bit lower around Pure Drive weight. I think you'll be fine though. Also if you like the flexy feel, I'd humbly like to suggest maybe also trying the Yonex vcore HD and maybe a Prince 97p as the 97p in particular only has a 16mm beam and swings super fast despite being quite heavy and very plush with a good bit of spin. The only problem I might see you disliking with the gravity and Yonex is that 18x20 isn't super friendly like the pure drive is, but then again you used to play with a prestige...
how much money would be in all those racquets hanging on the wall? must be over 50k

any recommendation if i wanna heavier upgrade from pure aero lite? I tried pure aero team, but the feeling is just not the same and the groundstrokes that I hit with it just didnt work out as good (basically i had a hard time to play with my pure aero team even after several practices - it just went out of control, not doing everything i wanted...)
This is 2 months late but if you still haven’t gotten a new racket try to add weight on it you can increase the weight by 10 or 20 or sometimes even 30 grams just by using weight
Lol putting the speed to 1.5 and it still sounds normal
When you start smashing with your “racket” then you’ll know if the chemistry is there...if you can grow with the racket 🤣
