Trout fishing/fly fishing. One of my most favorite fishing locations I have ever found was completely destroyed by forest fire back in 2021. The California Dixie fire. Good memories vs bad memories, I was camping/fishing there one month before the fire.

Careful…we had two guys who ended up ledged up when they took the trail in from the middle fork of the kings back in toward Kings Canyon after a real rainy season back in the 90’s. It’s got that clay, then I guess the trail gave and one ended up at the river side (over 300’ down) and dead. The other hung upon a branch part way down, somewhat minor injuries.
I know exactly where you are, but won't give away the location. I have been there many times. Such a cool spot. Did you see the bridal-veil waterfall coming out of the rocks just above where the two rivers meet? Super good shower spot on a hot day.
At least they made a nice sign saying the trail maintenance ends :) How far do you think you ended up hiking? Seems like quite a ways. Nice meeting you last weekend!
Beautiful area. My plan, go a little later in the season and waders, lol :). I carry a handgun and a 12g shotgun just in case. Have fun. Thanks for the tour.
Great video Jason, although it wasn’t the fishing adventure you’d planned, you still brought us along into some stunning central Oregon scenery. Man I need to get down there soon. Long over due a fishing trip on the metolius or the dechutes.
