Whereas in CSM, they are very consciously choosing this under the influence without misgivings.

  • @PerfectBlack

Falling is such an intense concept and at first i didn't understand why Fujimoto tackled it like this, but then i saw the beauty of it. Falling is a primal fear, but everyone of us think of jumping when very high up. Also, falling in love? Out of love? To pieces? It gives me the idea of something unavoidable and visceral, we can't avoid falling in nature, it's a phenomenon we can only live and try to recover from.
But most importantly, if we fall it's because we're high up. The fear of falling to me is linked to the creeping terror i feel everytime i am happy.
Absolutely i loved this segment. Must read it again!

You're incorrect about something. Fami didn't state that the pawns she controls are weakened by exact 50%. Fami instead says this: "The Devils I summon with my power are weak. They can't use their full strength."
This means that the pawns she controls could be even weaker than 50% of their original strength. This makes most sense since Falling Devil would be unfathomably stronger (It's been established in chapter 65 that the Primal Devil are alot more powerful and destructive than "some Gun Devil" who killed 1.2 million in 5 minutes. Weakened Falling Devil, fluctuated the gravity around the world, killing thousands and causing landslides and caveins. This shows that the debuff from Fami is alot higher than 50%. It likely makes her pawns around 85%-90% weaker or something when comparing the Gun Devil to the weakened Falling Devil who was holding back).

Before Falling, there had already been devils that have been shown or said to encompass multiple similar fears, but I believe she's the first one we've gotten a way more detailed look into. Darkness's fear obviously encompasses the fear of the unknown, as that is why we're scared of the dark in the first place, but we never really get to see how that plays into his abilities. We know Justice, Fairness and Equality exist and overlap, so I'm super curious if the Fear of the Unknown Devil is a thing or not.
With Falling, we see her get people to commit suicide, fall emotionally, leading to falling physically. While her powers are so strong this wouldn't be worth mentioning, I have no doubt she'd also be able to make people fall financially, maybe even able to get people to fall in love.
It's just a neat little thing I love about Devils that I like got explored a bit more here.

    • @We_see_all
      @We_see_all 5 месяцев назад +7

I wish I could send images on RUclips so that I could show you how the unknown plays into the Darkness Devils abilities.
-Apart from the obvious fact that we don't fully know how his abilities function (unknown), in chapter 65 D-devil speaks an unknown language, which allowed him to create holes in the villains fiend out of nowhere.
      - When Denji makes a contact with the D-Devils forcefield (?), his chainsaws created sparks which illuminated in the darkness. Small humanoid freaks then begin to point at the light.
-Then there's the cute little unknown frog (probably a reference to the greek God of Darkness: Kek). Whenever it ribbits, everyones limbs are suddenly detached from their body (We humans use hands to navigate in the darkness. Without them we are truly lost in the unknown darkness).
There're probably more details that I missed which shows how the D-devil incorporates the unknown into his abilities. But that's all I could gather for now.

@@the03k Same here honestly, not to mention how the D-Devils introduction already has the cast in a world we at first didn't know about (unknown). Doors being the sky, a large land of just grass, a mist that shrouds them is definitely something connected to how alien that place is to us humans, adding to the unknown factor.
Plus the characters immediately recognizing the place gives us a sense of comfort, only for it to be immediately broken when they seemed nervous and some outright wanted to kill themselves. It builds a sense of security and comfort in the characters having knowledge, only for it to again be dashed away when we saw how absolutely terrified they were which leads to us to being in the unknown on what's happening. I know you probably know these stuff already, but I just like to spout off random nonsense like these lol.

Her multi-limbed appearance is similar to the Darkness Devil, which I think is on purpose compared to other primal fears. Falling and Darkness were both labeled as primal fears in the same study, which showed that these are the only two things that babies can be considered afraid of without being taught. (Or rather, the only things that can be humanely tested for.) So Falling and Darkness are essentially two primal devils of the same "tier."
(Death comes from a different study entirely, where it is the zenith of a pyramid and labeled as "extinction." "Loss of autonomy" aka Control was on the same pyramid two steps below it, meaning Makima might be considered a primal fear and would two steps below Death in power. Since War and Famine also have powers that involve taking control of someone, they might be under the "loss of autonomy" category in the hierarchy of primal fears, making them the same as Makima and thus also primal fears. Of course it might just be that War, Famine, and Control are considered collectively on par with a primal devil, however since Makima could stand her ground against Darkness and Famine could take control of Falling, I think they might just legitimately be primal fears.)

Something else you can see from a thematic sense is Denji’s further and deeper fall into depression between part 1 and 2, and now what’s gonna potentially happen with him post death by sushi incident. Denji is constantly falling in part 2 and hasn’t had a moment to get back up yet or even hit the ground in the first place.

I think she is a cook because her ability has something to do with trauma and demons get there power from fear
She can take fear to a whole new level

Shes lived for millions/billions of years so I'm not surprised that she'd have a hobby of her own (especially when she has that kind of personality). Also, the fact that she is a cook and also is an ally of the Famine Devil is a fun detail.

It should be clarified that chicken legs do not have more joints than human legs. All vertebrates essentially have the same architecture. The same type of limbs, like hind limbs (aka legs), are just modified for a specific purpose.
Like all birds, chickens are digitigrade, meaning that they walk on their "toes". The part of the leg that juts forwards instead of bending backwards like our knees is actually its ankle. They actually do have knees, which are usually hidden by feathers.
However, I noticed that, like the humans arms, the featherless wings on the falling devil's back also have extra joints (quadruple jointed instead of triple-jointed). Again, wings are just specialized forelimbs, equivalent to arms. It's an impressive attention to detail on Fujimoto's part.

Maybe i`m a little deep on this but, thanks to this vid i get some idea about the primal fears. Maybe they are associated to the end of the world on some kind. Like darkness devil is the death of the sun or the absolute darkness. And Falling devil representing another alternative ending of the world that being the end of gravitation.

The smt music is a real nice touch, lol. Feels outta place, but oddly fitting when gazing upon the designs of the Devils
EDIT: so basically: she's the representation of Asa's journey/trauma, and the result and consequences of Denji's actions. Her being tied to both of them represents a, well, tie they share on a spiritual and emotional level. Their relationship, journey, and consequences of their lives culminated into a perversion of itself, but one meant to be overcame.

I like to think that there are some names in manga meant to be read as a Japanese and English pun.
For example, I wouldn't be shocked if Denji's name being a portmanteau of "tenshi" was as intended as it sounding like "dingy"; gloomy and drab.

for me the "vonla" dish is a mistranslation from japanese, because if they went for a purely phonetical writing, it could be "vont la", which in french means "going there" (plural, 3rd person), so it would fit that the "essence of going there" would be the one moving people the most out of all the dishes
