@@itzme1on despite the fact that this was a 1988 recording of the Federal PA300 siren that was from "Die Hard", a siren which was not used in this game outside of the menu screen. In case if you're wondering, the yelp siren for the cop cars in this game while you play was the Unitrol Omega 90, a 1990s LAPD siren that can still be heard on a few older Crown Vics and the one older Tahoe.

this game is nearly 13 years old by now and it still gives me the chills when I start it up

I dunno why but Hot Pursuit feels like an apocalypse for the racers
With that intro music and cinematic and whole thing focusing on cops getting technology to be so advanced to be able to catch the fastest racers it feels like Hot Pursuit is the end of racers in this version of NFS universe
After playing rivals this feels like the prelude to the apocalypse, cops in rivals are no joke.
I agree, bc of the open world nature of NFS Rivals the cops seem a lot more threatening. Not meaning that the hot pursuit ones aren't as dangerous/badass
But if you actually play through Hot Pursuit (which I'm doing right now on the remastered version), further into the game, even the racers acquire technology similar to police (they already have system jammers, besides this they also obtain spike strips and EMP)
As someone who's completed both the racer and cop stories of Rivals, the cops are overpowered, really, really overpowered, so I agree
@blainedonahue8974 rivals was basically called police brutality the game for a reason
I miss this so much… that one song was getting us into the right atmosphere. Cruising at 200mph down the long desert straights and pushing ourselves up the windy, narrow mountains covered in snow.
I got Hot Pursuit remastered on switch, this game is fucking insane
I've completed the campaign like 3 times, and after watching the E3 trailer and intro of the game, Edge of the Earth is hardwired into my brain
And I couldn't be happier about that
Really glad I was able to experience the game finally
you wouldn't have wanted to miss it. I completed the campaign around 30 to 40 times I'd guess. simply because I replay the game twice a year

me too its unreal how this game was released in 2010 it was truly ahead of its time
Sometimes I would sit here at the menu just listening to this until the cutscene would come up and just listen to it over and over. I have tears in my eyes.

1:49 goosebumps after the cinematic cuts to black and you see main menu with the sirens in the background and an empty road in front of you. I felt like I was being chased in the main menu too. They nailed the ambience

@@KingLich451 Some of the bugs are still there, but graphically it has improved and it looks and feels smoother overall. Handling is the same. Sadly the Mercedes McLaren cars were removed due to licensing. Roadblocks are still pretty janky with the hitboxes though.

1:15 this part onwards literally shows the real life rivalry between Koenigsegg, Bugatti and Pagani
CCX, Veyron, and Zonda will always have a special place in my heart even though these cars arte old by todays standard, but you're exactly right, back in the day their rivalry was fierce for the right reasons
@@sonoricardomusic you're absolutely right. I've seen the origin story of all these three companies, which were pretty inspiring tbh. Pagani was inspired from Lamborghini, Bugatti and Koenigsegg are known for often competing for the top speed records and Bugatti and Pagani have intense rivalry. I'm honestly attached to these cars because of NFS Shift, which I played A LOT on my Xbox360 back when I was very young.

How I remember this game. 7 year old me about to drive a Bugatti Veyron out on the streets of Seacrest County and run from the cops. Never thought I would see the day where they remastered the game, but here we are. Although there were some differences I noticed, for the most part, it still gives me that old NFS vibes. I wish I still had my Xbox 360 to compare, but now I’m only on the PS4.

Man i remember playing this game on the Xbox 360 when I was 5. Even tho i was young, i still remember staying up late just to play this game. Still wished I could complete it back then. The good news is I just bought an RTX 3060 gaming laptop and I'm just installing NFS HP as I'm writing this comment, so I'm damn excited. Time to bring back my memories :)

I played the original on a intel 1st gen. Now i can relive my childhood on a 8 core beast with 30 series graphics. i would barely get 30FPS, but now definelty 120+
