Great scene featuring dance. But the dance scene in ANY Black movie that I found to be the most Mesmerizing is the first big dance scene from the film Idlewild! When I think about it, it makes my eyes flood tears and I am so esteemed to be a part of Black America!! We are a beautiful people and can dance, dance, dance! Like NO other people! I will love us beyond the grave!
That was fantastic. Nobody can jive like the beautiful black folk. Great choreography. Great band. Thought I was watching MGM or Universal from way back. Thanks for sharing.
look on youtube for ANOTHER one of "our culture" dancing like this TODAY, like we saw in this movie? NO black people seem to want to teach this, or do a youtube video dancing with this sort of class anymore. its all white people doing it.
Back then when the club means having good non-violent/non-violence times without shooting, fighting, arguing, and kh3lling. + Just some good old regular awesome fun. (my generation sucks 🙄😕😐😑😒🤦🏽♀️ and I would love to go back in time and party with these people)
Go to a place that has partner dancing, and live music. Some of them will give basic lessons if you get there early and pay a little extra cover charge. Partner dancing is a social skill many of us lack so it gets awkward, but it is also fun. Mass media has created a mythological yesteryear that looks more pleasant than it actually was. Dance clubs in the 1950s had problems with violence too. Watch out for your safety, but find people you trust and have fun with them. If nothing else, learn some solo dances to do by yourself where it is safe. Shim sham is a dance you could learn by yourself, and it connects to Lindy hop (the dance style they did in this video).
this isnt true. clubs have ALWAYS been shady. there was no "good old days" of club life. its ALWAYS been drugs, drinking, debauchery. and yes, violence would happen. we used guns. they used knives.
Você pode até estar certo, mas me baseei na década da morte do Malcon X para entrar nessa conclusão que essa dança era dos anos 50's. Obrigado pelo comentário!
Actually no. Zoot suit era was the 50’s. The 40’s was when the world war II was going on, the suits were mostly military, and the zoot came with the boogie oogie, post war.
@@deboraazevedo4709 No. Zoot suits were a creation of the 1940s. The fact that the war was going on and some people were wearing zoot suits despite the rationing of fabrics is why the Zoot Suit Riots happened. Well, that and racism.
The closest thing I can say I've experienced to dancing like this was the golden age of underground raves. Late 90s early 2000s. We would dress up, hunt down the events... And run into the fence floor. You always saw the same regulars and friends. It was a cool culture of dance and expression. Until it was commercialized
My fav dance the Lindy hop originates in 1928 Harlem the dance is still popular today, and has is a direct ancestor of B Boy dance and hip hop. its originates from the Charleston.
Yes Zukes looters were from the 40s.and I remember seeing them in the 40s in Long Beach California. There were always fights between sailors and the Zoot Suiters...
Now that’s a ball yes mammmm !!!! Real music , real singers and good booze lol one good jam would sweat your press and curl out and the guys coked hair would be standing up like alfalfa at closing lol 😂😂😂
De la película malcom X, con de dencel Washington, historia del líder musulmán, Mohamed... Que te nfluyo en casius clay para cambiar a Mohamed ali, eso cuenta la historia. Saludos.
This would have been early to mid 1940s during the war years. Not the 1950s. Unfortunatly most younger people today have only vauge understandings of American history, culture, and historic timelines.
I don't think I can enjoy this without the cussing lol. What happen to this. The closest I get to this is the corner store backroom with the pinball and jukebox in the late 50s and early 60s, but we weren't dancing like this. But the dancing was contact dancing like this.
This is not dancing from the fifties this is more so the forties a matter of fact I know because the song in the background is Lionel Hampton's flying home or flying high I can't get the title right and that came out about 1943 on Deca
🫡Thank you for sharing👏🏾 They wants receipts 🧾 here you go in your face Busta talking about FBA don’t have no culture . Please.. . The jitterbug created hip hop and more… All FBA Facts 💯. FBA /BGR /FOI /B1💯✊🏾
It's okay when black people are dancing around and jumping and having a good time... But I don't think people want black folks put as much emphasis on economics and academics as they might do on entertainment
Please...the dancers of this era were no saints. My grandmother used to talk about women literally dancing out of their panties and just kickin' 'em to the side and kept on.
The big band is the one of Lionel Hampton and the tune is Flying Home with the tenor saxophone solo by Illinois Jacquet.
1940s 1950s 1960s have the best music and dance.
certainly see why everyone tries to copy black culture. exciting and fun filled.
Black culture today is exciting, why it's copied all over the world.
khem127 have to agree. Black people seem to add a much needed flare
People are obsessed with black culture, but refuse to give black people the respect and credit for their own work.
Raining Pigs modern black culture is great too 👍🏾
I prefer the 40's than today.

You are 100% correct!!!! The Bowtiedance scenes from Idlewild brought me here!!!!!
@@khem127The "Bowtie" dance scene from 'Idlewild'......need I say more?
The film is Malcolm X starring Denzel Washington 1992
1940's. Still a nice piece.
This scene is the start that lead to shuffles, line dances, and dances that kids today do
Here for some dance lessons, wish I could have been at this one, we sure lived, loved & laughted!🥳💃🏽💖
A year later im here for the same ones
That was fantastic. Nobody can jive like the beautiful black folk. Great choreography. Great band. Thought I was watching MGM or Universal from way back. Thanks for sharing.
This is what we have been missing all those years.
This depicting the swing dance era of the 1940`s.
This up there with the dance scene from Idelwild staring outkast😎
Yep!!!!
Like no one could EVER know!! Idlewild bumdiggetty FOREVER!!
I love my culture!!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. The BEST
You are not the only one. I love my cultural heritage.
The best and one and only 👍🏿
This is the 1940s not the 1950s. Big difference in music and dance.
Music and dances of the 40’s
Denzel Washington and Spike Lee in the Movie “Malcolm X” Great dancing, music, movie!! 😀
Wow, such energy. Love the choreography! Talented dancers.
Too cool. These people are superhuman.

Many clubs are still like that though? What ones are you top plus hating this whole generation as diverse as it is is a bit of a stretch

People wore Zoot suits in the 50s! Mainly by Black Americans. but they wore them!

They had big fun doing this.
The Jitterbug was a difficult dance to master. Teens did it. They practiced a lot. Very rhythmic, athletic and musical. Choreographed by the couples.
I'm a fat old white man but I recognize fun and style. Thanks for the video.
The 40s, for sure. Saw a nice nod to the Nicholas Brothers dance in a Glenn Miller Movie.
I thought that type of dance was in the 40s.
My fav dance the Lindy hop originates in 1928 Harlem the dance is still popular today, and has is a direct ancestor of B Boy dance and hip hop. its originates from the Charleston.
I wish I could "like" this a million time.
This is how my parents danced n partied back n the day...

Yes Zukes looters were from the 40s.and I remember seeing them in the 40s in Long Beach California. There were always fights between sailors and the Zoot Suiters...
yeah that happened in the 40's
A man fighting in a zoot suit had to be a sight to see.
But Zoot suits first came out in the 30’s back east
Zoot suit
The energy was unlimited, gosh this is so awesome
SWING DANCE. 🤪🎺🎷🥁🎙The era of the Big Bands,🎵 from the mid-30s to the end of the 40's !!! not 50's ! 🎶🎵
I was looking for footage that showed more footwork, and didn't cut away every 3 seconds. Also, this was filmed in the 1990s and not the 1950s.
So much talent ❤❤
This looks like fun in every sense.
That looks more like the 1940's with the zoot suits for the men and the updated Gibson hair style for the women!
Why can't life be just a great big dance hall?
These people from another galaxy🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️
My people true indigenous of earth...
the name of the tune is Hayride which was also used in the film 'A league of there own' starring Geena Davis and Madonna

Maybe if they studied and read as much as they dance and play basketball they would have produced more doctors and scientists.

True and very sad about the young people!
Would love to see the Nitty Gritty even update with African American I want to see how we would do it
