      @@quicksilver1752 It's technically just a responsiveness test. Someone up to shady shit, will have to think about it, or get really nervous when they give a false answer. You will notice he asked several times, even though Ty answered already... It's easy to eff up a lie if you have to repeat it. They ask you about your task and reason to watch your body language and how quickly you answer. The answer can be, "I would rather not discuss that".... now that could set off alarm bells in a cops head, but if your tone of voice and body language is relaxed, he might let it slide.

      @@txjeb yeah no shit. The point and issue here is exactly what you said though. Even if the dude just rightfully doesn't want to answer and he shouldn't be asked anyway, he says "I don't have to answer that" and now the cop is going to think some shady is going on or at least think he's being "disrespectful" and write him up for a ticket instead of only warning. Like what if he's coming from a strip club or something and just doesn't want to air his business out there. There's videos of it turning out exactly this way as well where someone is doing nothing wrong and they just don't want to talk to cops but the cops assume and end up screwing themselves over in the end. It's out of line to be asking that question and it's a total setup even if you're doing nothing wrong.

    I’ve been a police officer for 25 years. This is how we want traffic stops to go. We explain the reason for the stop, the citizen explains their side, and both treat each other with respect and understanding. Are there unprofessional and power trip officers? Yes. Do the good ones like the image that those officers convey? No. You can even be a jerk to a certain point and I’ll understand because being stopped by an officer isn’t something anyone enjoys but all most of us ask is to not be an asshole.

    • @thunderstar254
      @thunderstar254 Год назад +36

      Question for you: what do the "good ones" do to actively correct/retrain/reeducate/rehabilitate actively unprofessional, law-breaking, power-tripping officers? Do the offending officers forever change their ways or else forcibly removed from the profession? Or do they circulate through the system backed by your all-powerful unions? In a nutshell, what do the "good ones" actually *DO* about the "few bad apples", besides "disliking them" as you put it? Consequently, what happens to the "good ones" who make a big enough scene where they wish to fully see through the correction and change in problematic officers? Are they and their concerns brushed under the rug time and time again till they grow disillusioned and leave the career altogether, or are they retaliated against and forced out against their will?
      These are all rhetorical questions we all know the answer to, but feel free to chime in with any anecdotal evidence to the contrary!

    If you're rifling through the car when they can't see you well, they don't know what you're grabbing. As far as they know, you could be grabbing a weapon.
    Just keep your hands empty and visible - don't even roll down your window.
    You can see in this case, the cop went to the most advantageous position for if you had a weapon and was ready to unholster his weapon while knocking on the window. • @embedded_software

      I got pulled over for a speeding ticket in January while driving with the flow of traffic. After that day, I made it a personal goal of mine to do whatever I could to end the enforcement of speed limits. That means defund the police. That means put them out of a job. That means don't speed anymore. A few months later, in a desperation move, they reduced the speed limit from 65 mph to 55 on a 19 mile stretch of highway I drove every day to work. For "construction". I was like, "bitch there isn't straight 19 miles of construction on the road." Let me tell you, maybe 5% of the cars I see obey that new speed limit. I routinely get overtaken by trucks, even though I'm always in the slow lane. Now you tell me, is it safer for me to go 10+ mph below the flow of traffic just to obey the speed limit, or is it safer for me to drive with the flow of traffic so I don't need to have all these cars and trucks overtaking me?

Pay close attention to your surroundings and make judgement calls based on the situation. To answer your question tho it is safer to go the speed limit, it’s just that everyone else is being unsafe. I can’t say much cuz I usually speed 5-10 over but I also live in Florida, pretty much everyone speeds down here. Cops are people too tho and you gotta remember they aren’t all bad. A lot of them are saving people’s lives out here, defunding them won’t help them do that. Tho I agree that was a bullshit ticket if it’s how you’re telling it.

    I understand they technically don't have a right to know that. However, unless you're doing something unlawful there's no reason not to just say "I'm coming from work on my way home".
    Heck, only tell what you feel isn't private.
    I got pulled over for not moving over or slowing down enough when they had someone pulled over and there was no reason for me not to say "I'm coming from home, near X area, to go get food".
    You get through a stop a lot quicker by being respectful and easing an officer's concern for possible criminal activity. And most of the time, they just give a warning. Especially if you say "yes sir, no sir" or "ma'am".

What it boils down to is "If you don't have anything to hide then let me/us invade your privacy" - no thank you sir, I like my privacy. Also, nothing you tell an officer will be used in your favor, only *against* you so that they can get their conviction rate up. The cop is fishing for information to get you caught up, NEVER to help you out. Why do you think your Miranda Rights say "... Anything you say can and will be used *against* you"? Although it doesn't seem as dark when looking from inside out, it's because there is more light coming into the car than going out (light = visibility). Also, the closer you get to the window, the easier it is to see through it. Even without tints, sometimes it's hard to see into passing cars at a distance or at an angle because the glass reflects and refracts light, and tints make it that much more difficult, even when they're fairly light. I don't think the cop lied when he said he couldn't see into the car, especially if he meant he couldn't see while driving by.

    This is a perfect example of a RESPONSIBLE concealed carrier. Anytime you have interaction with law enforcement and you tell them its there, it will help your case no matter what the reason is they are speaking with you. If you just tell them, they usually don't make a hassle out of it unless it has become a common issue in their area. This is also a good example of how to properly interact with an officer. Most of the time if you respect them, they will make it as easy as they possibly can on you. Every now and then you get a sour one, but hats off to the officer and the driver.
