I got a set of 706 heads and trailblazer SS intake with throttle body and injectors this exact same way. Paid 350 out the door. Just removed what was on it and put those on didn't get charged any more.
Just clean the pan and slap.it back together. Not sure why you pulled it down that far if it was so clean and great. Letting the magic out bud. Get a junkyard motor rhat spins and just do the cam and springs. No need to spend upwards of 2 grand.
It's a 8.1l. I have that I'm my 2001 silverado. I love the engine. Plenty of power and can pull. If you're looking for one they only can be found in 2001 to 2006 chevy/GM trucks and suburban. They had a short run but they are amazing engines I highly recommend them.
I love the 4.8. I swapped a 5.3 in my Silverado and the 4.8 had way more balls. people talk big on the 5.3 when its not any better then the 4.8. I'm abut to rebuild the 4.8 for my 86 Chevy van
My buddy and I had the same exact trucks with both of these engines. My 2013 had a 5.3 his 2012 had a 4.8. Not only was my truck noticeably quicker, but it was also better on gas. Not doging the 4.8 by any means, it's a good engine, but the 5.3 is definitely superior.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW MOTOR!!!! YOU SCORED BIG TIME AT THR JUNKYARD!!! YOU GOT MY ATTENTION. PLEASE KEEP ME UPDATED!!! THIS IS A BUILD ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY CAN DO!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND EDUCATION. THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
Two random dudes help you pull a motor at a junkyard and you post a video with the caption literal random crackheads I mean even if they do smoke crack these cats helped you for nothing LOL just didn't add to the story man ..cool build tho
Thanks. Uhmm….save a lot of head scratchin RPO codes on the door or glove box will tell you what engine is in the wreck LQ4 is iron block 6.0, LQ9 is the other? Also 8th digit of vin # and a decoder online will tell you what engine.
You don't want the 8.1L. It's not an LS engine, it's just a chevy big block and it's weak. The cranks are weak and the pistons have been known to be weak. Also there's not nearly as much aftermarket support. It's not just a big ol good LS engine. That stops at the 6.0L
@@AmericanDetour its a monster of an engine. However theres hardly any aftermarket for them like the 6.0 raylar performance has been my go to for the 8.1 if youre gonna build something the 6.0 has tons of options
If you had assembled the intake and stuff on the motor they would have charged for just an engine. Tip for next time to save you some money.
Wait can you elaborate please
@@bigreesetv if an engine is assembled and not in pieces , they will charge the one item which is usually cheaper.

I had a 2001 Silverado with the 4.8. Gave it to my son with 523,000 miles

Seen a 2500hd suburban fist time and had no idea they made em
My local lkq has concrete floors. Makes it so easy on that back than rocks

4.8 better than5.3?

4.8 flattops in a 5.3 with gen 4 h beams and a decent cam Your good to go
I mean hey they don't call it the 4.gr8 for no reason lol. Plus you can rev them higher since the smaller displacement
Yours 5.3 was shot.
LS swapping my 98 Impreza wagon, if anyone has any suggestions or tips please lmk!

I’ve seen NV4500 with upgraded clutches last behind a turbo LS so it should do fine with yours
6:03 so this crackhead says "I was about to let you hit my joint."

You can look at the RPO sticker and see what engine is in it.
I want to go to a junkyard and pick & pull up a 5.3 LS but how do I know it’s good?
Put a 24 mm socket on the crank shaft bolt and turn it over. If it spins over without binding, it will work.
@ I’ve pulled about 10-12 motors frm the junkyard now… Lol I’m a regular junkyard dog now, Ls’s , 4.2’s, 5.3’s, Hr’s, DE’s, K series’s, J37’s
How did you clean everything good with
A knocking code to the knock sensors ?
How did you learn to build engines
Just taught myself. Watched a lot of RUclips videos and such and slowly learned what to do and not to do
That was a flex fuel l59 I believe. So slightly bigger injectors anyway
If it’s a Z then it’s a 5.3 Vortech, with flex fuel, fuel injectors
I have an 8.1 in my suburban. It is massive torque for days
Wish I could’ve found one!
@@AmericanDetour its a monster of an engine. However theres hardly any aftermarket for them like the 6.0 raylar performance has been my go to for the 8.1 if youre gonna build something the 6.0 has tons of options
Previous owner could have done frequent oil changes. If they used Pennzoil it will look like that.
Everyone out here wants 900+
z = flex fuel 30 lbs injectors
What city is that junk yard in
How’s the Transmission coming along for the 2500
Currently putting it in as I’m typing this!
Sweet
As far as prices go lkq is based off what state your in cause MD IS HIGH!!!
This was a couple years back, from what I’ve heard, prices have gone up everywhere for gen 3/4 stuff
Nice dude
How much for a built 5.3 ls motor
Did you build you one?
@@mattt5179 I still need a motor
@@Mr-wh6we got an l59
You should leave the corn ball music out
Where's part 2?
4.8-6.0 are practically the same engine regardless of what people tell you
Calling someone a crackhead because he asked you if you wanted to hit his joint you act like he offered you to hit a crack pipe or something
I would have pressure washed the motor first then take it apart
i wouldnt be under that truck with that frame like that
dude gt45 turbo on 5.3 easy 700 hp 💨
Bro never made a part 2
i would like too see /best gas mileage build! not a gas hog!
8.1 isn’t an LS it’s a misconception it’s a variation of a big block
LKQ around my house $474 that's without any accessories.
Right, likewise. Ls aren’t as cheap as they used to be, least where I’m at in the PNW
Project dead or what?
That's a 5.3
Sheep wanna see yet another played out junkyard ls swap on RUclips huh? Rediculous.
please trim your finger nails
the l s is a crap engine but
