"She's exhausted from the day's work. Not that it was too much. We quite enjoyed it." I don't know why that line is so funny, but it always gets a giggle out of me. XD
It’s more sad when you read the Bible it says that Moses biological mother was a servant to the queen and helped raise Moses. Imagine seeing your child from the distance, grow up and not being able to tell them who you really are.
Actually, she raised Moses in her own home until he was of a certain age. I have a feeling he knew exactly who she was. Certainly by the time he wrote the account of his life in the Pentateuch, he knew.
I can imagine Miriam watching him growing up since he was adopted by the royal family. Like, he must have been playing and running wild with his stepbrother around the kingdom while she and her family work as a slave. Just imagine her watching her youngest brother from afar, happy that he's safe, growing up strong and healthy, but also sad that she's not part of that moment and might never be. Waiting all these years thinking that her brother is aware of his origin and will come back to her someday to deliver his people. And this is what she gets...
Little hints of foreshadowing 2:41 he bumps into old man and he is terrified that he'll be punished by prince of egypt. Later in the movie moses kills a guard to save that mans life 🤯 goosebumps
2:23 when it zooms into Miriams face, as she finishes the lullaby. I just love it so much, brings flashbacks to when the veil and the wind begin to cover Yocheved's (their mothers) face as she ends the lullaby. so powerful

The historical Miriam had her problems, but she was basically a good and very strong-minded woman. She was her leader's big sister, and she never let him forget it.
i think when moses saw his sisters tears and the last lyrics she sang from that lullaby, he seen the revelation through her eyes and couldn't bare but to get out of there as soon as possible cause he knew that what she had said was deep enough for him to see and know the truth
Oof everytime I see that sibling reunion it is so tense. The arrange of emotions is insane for all of them. Facts real quick: There are no really distinct features. It is believed that skin tone and hair as well as features varied in Egypt. As well as sizes. And if anyone was wondering why they didn't have hair, one word: Lice. Most wigs were made of horse hair and or human hair. They shaved their heads to prevent lice. If anyone has anything else to add, I'll gladly read it.
Moondancingdaughter i saw part of a tv series in Spanish about Moses and it siad that the pharo's daughter adpted Moses, because she couldn't have kids. Which version is more accurate about his adpotive parents?
Moondancingdaughter Yes the show is called Moses and the ten commandments, from videos i looked up the show was originally filmed in Portuguese but later dubed in Spanish.
Aaron: “Miriam, do you want us flogged?” whispers: “Miriam.” & tells Moses: “She’s exhausted from the day’s work.” She pulls away: “I know to whom I speak, Aaron.” She’s persistent. Aaron tries to stop her. He falls on his knees & begs Moses to spare her. Moses was curious, when Miriam said his mother sent him adrift in a basket to save his life. He was storming away, but paused, hearing her soft voice. He recognized the song. He had been whistling that tune as a prince. He fled. He paused, catching his breath, & ran for the palace. He fell asleep, & his dream revealed she had spoken the truth.
It's still amazing how Moses only harshly grabbed her and forced her down not like Ramses and Pharoh would of hit or done worse to her. It at least shows he has some kind of heart before knowing the truth. Maybe I'm just looking for a positive but he could of hurt her instead of threatening her.
+Isabella Tianjin Don't you think it odd Moses would remember his mother's lullaby when he grew up? I don't remember anything my mom sang to me as a baby.

This movie just brings back the memories. After it was broken after many many years of use, when I saw it in a secondhand bookstore, I just HAD to buy it. It was SUCH a good movie.
Love the movie! One of my favorites in fact. But in the Bible, he actually knew his identity since he was a kid. Because Pharaoh's daughter asked a Hebrew woman (Moses' own mother) to nurse him. And according to history, she taught Moses who he trully was. It's more like the plot of Narnia's Prince Caspian.
Such a beautiful scene, one of my favorites from the movie! Also- super bonus points for actually uploading the clip properly, so that the song's tempo isn't sped up. It drives me nuts when the song only exists on youtube that way!
Yeah, and Val Kilmer (Batman) is Moses. Rameses is Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), and Aaron is Jeff Goldblum. The first Pharaoh is Patrick Stewart (Professor X). Steve Martin and Martin Short were Hotep and Huy. Such an amazing cast. They got a bunch of big names in this movie.
When I saw the movie, I was like “holy shit this is good” then in bible class (I had it when I was little, because...I don’t know, religious Jewish family) they said it actually happened... I don’t know about you but if I was there throughout the plot in real life I would shit my pants, and have a fucking heart attack. I can’t deal with this kind of shit 😱😂🤒
Scorpio no lol, it didn't. And it for dam sure wasn't during Ramesses The Greats' time. However, there has never been any recorded evidence about a massive Hebrew slave force occupying the delta. The Hebrews that were there, lived there.
it didn't specifically says that he has a stutter, but when God was speaking with Moses in the mountain, he did mention how he is not good at speaking, thats why God send his brother to go with him
She's acting like he knows what happen in his youth. He was a baby did she forget that? Plus he doesn't know he's the deliver, he was just following a girl.
She assumed he had been brought up as an adopted son (I mean, damn, they even animated the difference between Egyptians and Israelites in appearance, including Moses), rather than what actually happened, which was that Seti and the Queen told him he was their genetic son.
There is something very silly in this clip, he was a new born when his mother set him adrift right? So how can he remember that song? Unless he has a really vivid memory. Mind you the dream showed him what happened.
It has actually been shown that memories can go as far back as while in the womb. Within reason. That is why babies tend to calm down when held by their mother. The sound of the heart soothes them. In this case, he may be a baby, but the exact age was unclear. He was too big to be a newborn; no less than a month probably. Going by this movie at least. While he may not remember the song consciously, it may be his subconscious. It is like how something feels familiar but you never heard it. Turns out you did, just a long time ago and you forgot about it. Another thing to consider is that she may have used either the song or melody a lot for lullabies.
To add to what Donelle said,he didn't remember the song, he remembered the melody. If you listen closely you can hear him humming it to himself earlier in the movie. That's why her singing the song gave him such a strong reaction. She put words to a melody that he's known his whole life but never had words for.
I can't believe that's Brenda Chapman, the director, singing the lullaby! She actually has a good singing voice, brings so much emotion when Miriam's desperate to prove Moses is their brother!
I love how they used the same hair movement from the mother at the end of the lullaby. It gives a nice parallel.
