This bike is going to sell like crazy to all those who wanted a rincon but were on the fence due to the outdated plastics. Those three people are in luck.
No eps no hitch no diff lock crappy 3 speed trans slowest 700 atv. No reason to buy this over a grizzly 700 or outlander 700. Maybe if this was 8k it would be fair but for price might as well get Yamaha or canam.

No eps no hitch no diff lock crappy 3 speed trans slowest 700 atv. No reason to buy this over a grizzly 700 or outlander 700. Maybe if this was 8k it would be fair but for price might as well get Yamaha or canam. The reliability argument is dumb yes Honda is the most reliable but the new canam 700 and grizzly 700 are plenty reliable enough and way better machines. However if someone wants a 500 class atv I’d recommend the rubicon 520 all day.
I own a 2007 Rincon with close to 15,000 km on it and used exclusively on my trapline in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. This is by far the best piece of machinery i have ever owned. Its a true workhorse, and will never let you down. My question to other atv riders would be, " why doesn't everyone own a Rincon" ?? I would purchase the new Rubicon in a heartbeat, but i know my Rincon will last many more years !!!
@JohnSmith-bz4rt actually, you probably never drove a Rincon, it's governed at 75 km per hour. No interest in a twin can-am that will be in the repair shop plagged with electrical problems. You can have it !!!
@remotetrapper8991 Electrical problems? Never had a single issue. You can't compare Can Am to Honda....that's like comparing a corvette to a civic....Nothing against Honda in general but they aren't in same class compared to Can Am.
@JohnSmith-bz4rt You will have issues in time, you probably dont have enough km on yours yet. Let me know when you have 15,000 km on it like my Rincon and let me know how many times its been in the shop. Never replaced a part on my Rincon yet, except tires and regular maintenance, still on original brakes. Now that's unbelieveable. The heavy duty style automotive transmission is excellent. Theres a documentary on you tube about a guy in Quebec who put 126,000 on his Rincon, original motor/transmission. Most other brands are in the scrapyard after 10,000 km
@remotetrapper8991 Yes, I'm aware of that documentary. There's no doubt Honda is a solid brand, that's not what I'm disputing. I'm saying they are in totally different classes and not comparable in terms of high performance. I have 6000 miles, so just under 10K Kms. Besides proactive maintenance, no issues.
This might be a tall ask but I would love to see a video of a mid bore atv shootout. Specially now that can am has the 700. Minimum each model has power steering and aluminum wheels. I feel like this segment has grown massively. It eserves a shootout. DirtTrax can definitely do it justice. Here would be my top contenders from each brand. Probably missing some. KingQuad 750XPZ Rubicon 520 DCT Deluxe Brute Force 750 EPS LE Snarler AT6 S Cforce 600 Sportsman 570 Premium Grizzly 700 EPS Outlander Pro XU HD7 (could be the regular 700 as well)
$9500 CDN, sure. $14.3k CDN, no. As mentioned billions of times, there's much more capable machines for their asking price. Grizzly for example. This is Honda's way to say "we have a big bore machine now". Good video as always.
Nothing new. Many honda owners like myself are done with the lack of innovation. Reliable, yes. But a power steering option, low range and maybe 15-20 more horsepower. This is why i see more CFMOTO, yamaha and canam on the trails. I have seen people leave honda over the last few year's. I do think honda is a great brand but needs to be more competitive in this market.
Why not just call it a Rincon? Selling it as a Rubicon is disingenuous when it's totally lacking under the plastics. No power steering, which is fine without a diff lock I guess? 3 speeds vs 5 with no low range. Low on power. Less suspension travel. No suspension adjustability on a 14 thousand dollar machine. Honestly they should have just called it the Rancher 700. It's the most expensive 700cc atv and easily the least capable.
I hope they make another version of this machine with better suspension power steering and a low range transfer case.i know other manufacturers have those options covered but i like having gears instead of a cvt transmission. I currently have a 520 rubicon and it checks all the boxes for me except for power and top speed.maybe a future update on this new Rubi rincon will have some wanted and needed changes. Thanks for the review
No doubt if it's not broke don't fix it. But on the other hand Honda could make it a 750cc or 850cc. Then add eps more suspension travel. Along with diff lock. That would also sell.
The only thing this Honda has is durability, once that is said, you get an outdated & lackluster ride with very little attributes to get excited about... hard pass
I like it. Wish trucks were simple like that but all this new crap they push only will leave you stranded. I’ll take outdated knowing it’ll start and go every time. And I want a 4wheeler, not an overpriced machine that won’t last.
Nice presentation, thanks for sharing your insights on this. I love the Honda brand and its products and reputation, however I hope they will continue to improve on this model . Power steering and differential lock is pretty standard across the range of ATV’s these days . A long day of trail riding and you’ll feel it in your shoulders especially riding tight technical terrain without power steering And the differential locker is absolutely imperative here in the north country where I live where there’s a lot of sloppy slippery mud and sand slippery hills and even snow . I want the Honda primarily for its dependable reputation and more specifically for the rock solid transmission system, I hate CVT transmissions and belt drive systems. I’m even considering the Foreman with the solid rear axle and foot shift / manual transmission with diff lock and power steering. That thing will run forever and never let you down , but the ride is not as comfortable as the IRS .
The 700cc machine I really want from Honda is the TRX700XX. If they could bring it back with a larger fuel tank than the Raptor 700, I think it would sell much better than a lazily reimagined Rincon. Speaking of which, why did Honda get rid of all of their sport machines except for the 250? They represented better affordability and overall more fun than their utility machines.
We use our machines for work. Id get one in a heartbeat if our foreman ever gave up. No need to upgrade till then. But I do think in this age Honda needs to add another line up of something sportier to keep business going in the atv space. Just make a real big bore machine for all the people who need a machine for fun while keeping the hard working machines as well
I have a Rincon and would rather have it than any other atv offered just because of reliability of honda and it being the most powerful model the offer...i really hope the name change was to free up the rincon nameplate for a bigger 1000 model i wish they would make it a little bigger with the 1000 motor from the pioneer or talon with the 6 speed dct trans and it would still be reliable and that would be a hoss of a machine
I'm a die hard Honda guy but holy hell. Where's the 1000cc to compete. They can make some of the fastest street bikes and highest performing vehicles but no 40 hp quads. 😂😂😂
Had a 07 Honda rincon 680 with 34,000km on it ran like top , lil disappointed that they made the rincon look like the rubicon, wish they would have made it look different
Love my Hondas but they definitely missed the mark when this could so easily be improved by: 1) add lower 1st gear or low range 2) power steering 3) adjustable shocks. 4) diff- lock. These are 4 basic features and this unit would be nearly perfect. Wake up Honda!!!
The Rincon came off the Honda website for like a whole season as I think they were doing these updates. It is an underwhelming overhaul, but these machines do last and Honda owners seem to like them.
Does the front differential have a switchable differential lock? To me that is the only thing missing on my 2009 model (which has been absolutely bullet proof), but maybe power steering would be of use if the front differential locked…
@keithlynch3086 Yamaha, Kawi and Suzuki all offer non EPS models, but this is the only 700 model Yamaha has. If this is offered, they need one with all the features too.
Im honesty changing my mind on this machine. After going over it at the dealership and watching your take on it, its not pointless. Its not stupid. It's exactly what honda intended it to be for the buyers who want a honda with a bit more thump. People need to realize that you're just not going to get something to compete with an outlander 1000 japan. Let alone honda. And the guys who want this machine dont want that. They wont sacrifice reliability on something with 100hp spinning a belt. If you want one go buy one. Id love an outy. But i ride 30km a day. It just wont take it. For the city boys loading up for the country once or twice a month , buy a big bore. Make your weelend count. We get it. Should it have power steering in 2025? Absolutely. But im betting it will in the coming years. Maybe a midlife refresh. Honda isnt stupid. They're not brining it out for one year. Im sure they'll tweak it. Will i trade my 520? Not yet. Only because my wife will shoot me. Nice vid DT.
I’m ok with how much power it has but it needs a different transmission, either with more gears or low range. As it sits I can’t haul firewood with it and it will struggle plowing snow while my smaller 520 is good at those things.
@nseric1233 a low range and power steering would be welcomed i would agree. My 520 is a tank but I would love for it to shift less and have more top end. But it's a dozer in the woods with a trailer behind it.
Honestly you dont need the power steering i own a 2007 version and i never have a hard time steering it. Just becasue other quads have it dont mean this needs to have it steering is effertless already. Also they did alot of nice updates. The tires and rims look amazing and there 26s! Like honestly think about it its the best riding most powerfull honda you can buy. Its not outragously priced either. Im fine with it. Lack of a locking diff is my only grip
Great review. Despite the apparent gaps in amenities, the Rubicon 700 seems a capable and comfortable machine. how many of these gaps are fixable via aftermarket mods? Surely the suspension is doable. Is a front locker? Is eps? Is a hi-low transfer case? These are all "addable" in the truck aftermarket space (with enough cash or know how, jr both!). What is doable on a Honda atv? That would make a great series, come to think of it.
Nothing beats a Honda. For someone likes me who duck hunts and is always in water and mud in rice fields. I have pulled out a lot of Polaris machine because there belts slip due to sitting in water but never had that problem with a Honda. Hands down the best machine on the market for the last 25 plus years.
My rancher is the most boring ATV i’ve ever ridden in my life and the DCT feels like I’m driving a tractor from the 70’s. Will get another Yamaha next unless maybe they bring back the trx450r but we know that’s never gonna happen.
