For the scene at 01:12 where Hilts takes cover behind the barn, the corner we filmed on is the opposite side to the one McQueen was filmed on, as unfortunately there were maintenance vehicles in the way (they were working on a nearby pylon), however the barn is the same one in the film, still standing 60 years on.
Maintenance workers were working on the same pylon in someone else's location video in a different year ! That must be the faultiest pylon in Bavaria !

Thank you very much. Unfortunately with the barn, we couldn't film on the corner that McQueen was actually standing as there were maintenance workers and vehicles parked next to it working on a pylon. It was a shame, but we still wanted to get something at the barn, so we used an opposite corner. Thanks for the comment! :)
30 years after seeing the movie in a theater, went to Munich in 1994 & rented a motorcycle to see some of Bavaria. Only saw a few of the spots that were in the movie, then went on to ride the great roads in the Alps. Thanks for bringing those memories back for me. Good job on showing the locations then & now side by side!

Lustigerweise war ich einen Monat später auch dort, allerdings habe ich mehrere Tage dafür gebraucht. Mein Highlight war aber das kl. Hotel, in dem die Topstars plus Sturges damals wohnten. Alles ist noch genau so wie damals. Der Sohn der damaligen Besitzerin weiß einfach alles über die Dreharbeiten und hat ganz viel Material, würde dort gerne ein Museum einrichten, doch leider war er vor 2 Jahren schon weit über 90. Ich hoffe er lebt noch.

Not a problem at all. The map coordinates are 47.579812, 10.600624, the lane is situated between the villages of Roßmoos and Benken. From here, if you face towards Füssen and the Alps, you'll hopefully be able to make out the filming location. Hope this helps.
I can understand wanting to double-check that one, I was a bit unsure at first when I first visited. However, it is the same location. In the film itself due to a thick haze, most of the mountains behind are covered up hence why it looks so different, hope this answers that 😁
