Fantastic homage to the 1968 movie. The soundtrack is befitting of a modern-day remake if ever there is one. Good to see 90% of the locations still exist and are in good condition. Bullitt was one hell of a movie!
Bullitt cannot beremade. Modern youngsters couldn't understand it with a tutor at their sides... And besides, a car chase with silent Teslas is no fun to watch.
Incredible video! I can’t imagine the amount of work it took to not only research the locations, but then to get the camera angles so perfect. And then the panning of the video in sync to match the original movie! Wow. Great editing. Very impressive work.
Thanks! It was a labor of love. Huge shout-out to CitySleuth at reelSF who helped me out with some of the hard-to-get-to interior locations. His website is great (link is in description).
I love these sorts of "passing of time" videos. I have actually done this with still photos, standing in the exact spot where the photo was taken and looking at the changes. It seems a bit more consoling when the changes have been minimal.
Seriously… this is incredible work and as you mentioned, it’s a labor of love and wow, does it show in the details. You should be very proud! Thank you very much for this awesome video. McQueen was my deceased sister’s favorite so this means just a little more to me as I watch. Incidentally, the Mustang sold for $3,740,000 at auction. Iconic.
Nicely done! Very enjoyable! Years ago I, pretty much, drove the chase scenes, jumping all over the City. Love the now and then comparisons on how much most locations have changed; but some have pretty much stayed the same. In the film I liked the editing on the final part of the chase scene on Guadalupe Canyon Parkway where, to extend it, it was shot going both up and down the road before the final crash. Of course you can't tell that in the movie. Thanks for making the video.
Simply excellent. Very well done. The scanning synchronization adds a level of correlation to the original film that makes it much easier to appreciate what was then and what is now. I love any kind of then-and-now pictorials, especially movie locations as well as actual WWI and WWII battle locations. It would be great to see the techniques shown here used at some other locations. In any case, great work. Very enjoyable.
I lived on Sacramento St. across from the Grace Cathedral parking lot where the Mustang was frequenty parked. Thanks for bringing back the great memories.
Really great. Not only was the creator able to FIND the locations but he was able to match the FRAMING to the original shot in the film! This is some great editing, too. It utilizes sequences from the original film to set up the comparison shots! Great work.
I saw Bullitt when I was in High School in Ohio, and I think I ended up in the Bay Area many years later partly because of that dang chase scene. This is the first time I've known the actual filming locations. Thanks so much for this amazing and very detailed video.
Many, many, thanks for a great visual retrospective of the definitive stoic detective film.. Bullitt. I went to undergrad just south of SF and visited many of the sites in the decade following the filming. But to see these sites again, gives proof of the dynamic yet classic nature of SF.
Grew up there, lived mainly in South San Francisco and Millbrae. Was a junior in high school in 1968. Watch this movie every few years just to go back in time!
Yeah, it's incredible on how much has remained the same in SF since the 1960s. I was amazed to discover that the Safeway was practically identical to what it looked like back when it first opened in '59.
Excellent filming locations compilation! Super well done. I love the soundtrack. I wish I could make a spotify playlist of the tunes to find similar others but they're almost as hard to find as these filming locations! Great video work my friend! 💯👍
One of the greatest movies ever made, thanks for posting this, it shows not much has changed with the locations, amazing that the food market is still there on the corner, most have just been modernised 🇬🇧
After watching the car chase of the Bullit movie and then watching the Then & Now filming locations, it is fascinating to see what has not changed in 55 years. It's amazing that the Safeway grocery store is still there. An excellent look at that movie from 1968 and 2023.
I have seen so many of these and done a lot of them myself I go to famous locations to Film but never have I seen anyone do this where you get the shot exactly the way it was. This is absolutely fantastic Work and thank you for posting.
Truly magnificent!!! Without doubt this is the best ever filming locations video I have ever watched. I loved the way it was put together with the spirit of the film in mind. Am now recommending it to my son. Thank you.
The year's roll by people change etc but buildings remain untouched by history as if it was still back in 1968 when buliit was first filmed great movie n a cool actor Steve McQueen... And the mustang fastback ❤👍✨😁
A lot hasn’t changed over the years .great work there .like to visit one day . One thing to mention the cars back then were way cooler than today .especially the 68 F/B
Wow , terrific job. Kudos to you. I was born at SF General Hospital so it was neat to see the old/current shots of all the locations. San Fran such a beautiful place then and now. Fantastic job , thank you.
Great video! Really enjoyed it! I have always liked going to see places where my favorite movies were filmed. In fact, we have a family hobby of shooting our own short films on family vacations. I loved San Francisco, so in 2008 we shot one of our own movies there, including a 'car chase'. It's on my RUclips channel. The film is called 'Where's MacGuffin'.
Hi Gluecement, my hat to you! Thank you for the research and the update(s), great work! Thank you for preserving what is left of this classic movie, not only of the break-through car chase but of what was San Francisco in an era long gone - Peace be with you, Ciao, L (I lived those days - still have my first car... a Mustang!)
When I was in a theater watching this film for the first time, I almost fell off my movie seat during the chase up and down the hilly streets. I was blown away!
that San Francisco general hospital with the long basement hall..I rode that in a wheel chair 1972. Plus, today I live in a tiny town Fillmore where they filmed one scene in Bullitt. I also live by his old house in Santa Paula...love it........HI DOC
Absolutely superb video. Last year some close friends went to SF, and I had them go to the shop on Taylor to take pics of the location. Bullitt the film to this day just the best. 5 stars to the makers of this video. 👏👏👏
Awesome film footage makes me want to revisit san Francisco allover again I probably walked around all these locations without realising it and yes I've got the bullitt dvd!
I’ve a growing interest in film and TV filming locations, I’ve visited a lot of them in the UK. This is a superb, quality, well edited film about the locations of an iconic film. Thank you so much. I’ll be sharing this.
Incredible! 😲😲 Excellent work to find the accurate places to the centimeter 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 A great movie…with great actors…deserves to remembering indeed 😊 You did it brilliantly! 👍👍
This clip was genuinely amazing. Congratulations and well done! I travelled to San Francisco from Australia some years ago and tried to find some of these locations. I wish I had've seen this then. One of my all-time favourite movies. The car chase will never be bettered.
And besides, a car chase with silent Teslas is no fun to watch.
...followed by The French Connection.
It had a great twist at the end, which nobody saw coming.
I watch alot of filming locations but this attention to details is second to none GREAT JOB!!!
Add applause for your use of music. Fabulous pacing.

This is one of the best "Then and Now" videos I've seen. No narration and even the music fit the movie!
Great split screen, so many of the angles "camera view" were spot on. Nothing like a Steve McQueen movie.
Incredible video! I can’t imagine the amount of work it took to not only research the locations, but then to get the camera angles so perfect. And then the panning of the video in sync to match the original movie! Wow. Great editing. Very impressive work.

That was pure time travel! Great that Frisco seems to have hardly changed, unlike some cities. They must look after it👌
@@iconicshrubbery: Well... Look at any video about its downtown these days. Very sad.
I love these sorts of "passing of time" videos. I have actually done this with still photos, standing in the exact spot where the photo was taken and looking at the changes. It seems a bit more consoling when the changes have been minimal.
Fifty five years later, amazing how little has changed. Bound to still be Charger hubcaps lying about. Great job, thanks.
Amazing job. Love the split screen, and the attention to detail. 👏
The best one easily. Outstanding!
Wow, this is like a film in itself and deserves an Oscar for all your hard work, can’t give you enough thumbs up 👍
Great job hitting the exact angles. Amazing how little has changed in 55 years...
Great tribute to the late Steve McQueen also. Nice work
That was impressive, matching the filming locations to current day obviously took some time and you did it extremely well. Nicely done!
Seriously… this is incredible work and as you mentioned, it’s a labor of love and wow, does it show in the details. You should be very proud! Thank you very much for this awesome video. McQueen was my deceased sister’s favorite so this means just a little more to me as I watch.

There were at least 2 Mustangs used. One was a right-hand drive ....
4:06 - A great coincidence or excellent sound editing! 😃
Done on purpose.
This one of my favourite movies and one of Steve McQueen's best. Thank you so much for posting this, and all the hard work that went into it.
Nicely done! Very enjoyable! Years ago I, pretty much, drove the chase scenes, jumping all over the City. What dedication to finding and editing the movie locations. That's what I call professional devotion to your art! Thank you!
I lived on Sacramento St. across from the Grace Cathedral parking lot where the Mustang was frequenty parked. Thanks for bringing back the great memories.
Fantastic job aligning all of the shots, they matched very well; even the ones that didn't give you much to go on.
Excellent work! It was also nice to see all the locations and not just the ones from the car chase. You lined all the shots up perfect. Well done!
I AGREE WITH MANY OF THE COMMENTS. THIS IS THE BEST THEN & NOW VIDEO I'VE SEEN!!!!! And music selection is GREAT!!
Really great. Not only was the creator able to FIND the locations but he was able to match the FRAMING to the original shot in the film! This is some great editing, too. It utilizes sequences from the original film to set up the comparison shots! Great work.

I loved the way you did the split screen. Well done!
Excellent attention to detail. this is not easy, well done
Outstanding job! The matches are fascinating, amazing how some details remain the same after so many years. Love this movie.
By far the best film location comparison I’ve seen! Absolute perfection!
I see locations stuff all the time and have made some myself so I knw what goes into this stuff effort wise. This was fantastic, superb job dudes 👊
Awesome effort in this video, matching it down to camera angles and movements.
Wow. My favorite San Francisco movie.... then and now. Thanks for creating this!
This has to be the best then and now that I've seen. I like how the now picture so well aligns with the movie.
I've spent much time in SF and I love this film. Thanks for doing this.
Great filming it's one of my favourite movies, nice to know that a lot of the locations don't look too different. ❤
Definitely the best one of these I’ve seen! Excellent work!
Grew up there, lived mainly in South San Francisco and Millbrae. Was a junior in high school in 1968. Watch this movie every few years just to go back in time!

Agreed! Great soundtrack, perfect for the video and to listen to by itself! I hope they make it available!
More style and more class in the '60's!
This was very well done. One of my favorite movies.
Probably one of my top 5 movies of all time. 20 years lived in SF which is a place I love. Amazing job whoever you are!!
One of the greatest movies ever made, thanks for posting this, it shows not much has changed with the locations, amazing that the food market is still there on the corner, most have just been modernised 🇬🇧
Superb piece of 'before and after' - well done, supreme effort. 5 stars for a great film of its time

Great editing, research and music. Not much has changed since the 60's in regards to roads and architecture. 👍
Yes, I would say San Fransisco is one of the most preserved cities in the USA.
Great production! One of my favorite films of all time and you did a bang up job!
Amazing video like watching the movie then and now. Music is fantastic too.
Wow , terrific job. Kudos to you. I was born at SF General Hospital so it was neat to see the old/current shots of all the locations. San Fran such a beautiful place then and now. Fantastic job , thank you.
Guadalupe Canyon Parkway from Daly City to Brisbane CA - drove this stretch everyday on my way to work for more than 20 years
Did you know it was part of the Bullitt chase?
Great video, I love this film

Thank you for this excellent content. Love the upper/lower image comparison format. Please keep up the good work.
Excellent presentation!! Nice to see "The King of Cool" Steve McQueen. RIP BULLET

Great video! The BEST car chase ever put on film. A wonder no one was killed in the process. Steve was and still is the King of Cool!
Absolutely brilliant video
Awesome video 👏
Very Nice Job !!
Thanks for all the effort it took to make this content.
Amazing work
When I was in a theater watching this film for the first time, I almost fell off my movie seat during the chase up and down the hilly streets. I was blown away!
Brilliant work
My favorite line in the movie, "You sent us to guard the wrong man Mr. Chalmers."
great job , especially framing the correct perspective.
One of the best location matching videos I've seen. Great work. Quite interesting how some spots have changed very little since 1968.
Thanks for all the effort you put into to this. Great job, really enjoyed it 👍
Fantastic job highlighting so many memorable locations, got the sf hooks in me from 50+ years ago
that San Francisco general hospital with the long basement hall..I rode that in a wheel chair 1972. Plus, today I live in a tiny town Fillmore where they filmed one scene in Bullitt. I also live by his old house in Santa Paula...love it........HI DOC
Amazing, so much time and effort must have gone into putting this together. Brilliant
Absolutely superb video. Last year some close friends went to SF, and I had them go to the shop on Taylor to take pics of the location. Bullitt the film to this day just the best. 5 stars to the makers of this video. 👏👏👏

The attention to detail, the additional information provided, the shots themselves. This is amazing. Thank you for your time and your meticulous work!
The research, effort, and time taken had produced a very impressive documentary. Well done!

Fantastic work! Plus, it was fun to see Steve McQueen again in his prime.
Fantastic job! And this is one of my favourite films too!
Superb work and music selection! Many locations got preserved surprisingly well.
Impressive piece of work finding and re-creating the location shots. Bravo!
This clip was genuinely amazing. Congratulations and well done! I travelled to San Francisco from Australia some years ago and tried to find some of these locations. I wish I had've seen this then. One of my all-time favourite movies. The car chase will never be bettered.
some of the best shot line up work ive ever seen !.. kudos👍🏻
